Air Raid Offense

Passing Plays

This offense was created expanded by Hal Mumme, Mike Leach, Tony Franklin, and Chris
Hatcher. All four broke passing records together in the 1990's at Valdosta State University and
then the University of Kentucky before branching off into different careers. Mumme was the
Head Coach, Leach the offensive coordinator, Franklin the running backs coach and then the
offensive coordinator, and Hatcher was the Quarterbacks coach. Mike Leach went on to become
a record setting offensive coordinator under Bob Stoops at Oklahoma and then to Texas Tech as
the Head Coach, where he currently resides. Leach has changed the face of the college passing
with his record shattering seasons at TTU. Tony Franklin went on to have success as the
offensive coordinator at Troy University and now at Middle Tennessee State University. Chris
Hatcher returned to Valdosta State to win a Division II national title as the head coach.

Some of the notable record-setting college QBs who have had enormous success in this offense
include: Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, Dusty Bonner, Josh Heupel, Kliff Kingsbury, B.J. Symons,
Graham Harrell, and John Parker Wilson.
