Oracle EAM Overview

As described before to run all the operational activities, a company uses tools, machines and other
resources.
For example :
To produce product a manufacturer uses pump, boiler, compressor, conveyor, packaging machinery,
sterilizer and etc
To transmit and distribute product a company need trucks, pipe lines, transmission lines, roadway,
railway lines and etc
To support their activity a company also uses infrastructure facility such as plant building, office
building, warehouse, etc

All the above tools, equipments, machines are assets for a company. The assets should be well
maintained to make them in good condition and prevent them from shutdown or breakdown during
their operations.

Oracle Enterprise Asset Management enables you to schedule and plan asset maintenance activities
and track all the cost during the maintenance.
Oracle EAM will help you to create a good preventive maintenance strategy to decrease unpredictable
asset breakdown which can cause a problem on company's operational activity.

Types of Maintenance devided into :
Reactive, a maintenance activity performed when an asset suddenly fails to operate
Proactive, planned maintenance activity based on interval days, asset's run time or list dates
Preventive, proactive based on manufacturer recommendation. for example a car should be maintained
every six months or every 10.000 km running
Predictive, proactive based on conditioned. Predictive normally is a modified preventive maintenance.
All the historical asset maintenance activity will be analyzed to determine the schedule of maintenance.
For example, based on manufacturer recommendation a car should be maintained every six months or
every 10.000 km running. But after analyzing historical maintenance activity, it should be maintained
every 5 months or 8000 km. This can happens cause on daily operation the car should go to difficult
roadway
Reactive Maintenance Process Flow :
when asset fails to operate, operator or custodian will create work request to report the problem
asset's owning department approver can approve or reject the work request
approved work request will be converted to work order by planner
then planner will estimate the material/sparepart and operation required to repair the asset. this can be
based on technician information or planner's knowledge and experience
techncian will pick the material from warehouse to execute the work order
incase the work order need to be executed by third party a requisition will be created. then it will
converted to purchase order
certificate of completion will be signed off when third party finishes the repairment
based on the certificate of completion, planner or executor will receive the purchase order. then invoice
to payment can be processed
after asset operates normally, the work order can be completed and closed
Preventive Maintenance Process Flow :
preventive maintenance can be scheduled based on :
meter or runtime asset, for example a car should be maintained every 10000km
interval days, for example a car should be also maintained every 6 months
list dates, for example on january 1, 2013 a turbine should be maintained
planner runs the forecast for a range of date, system will suggest the work order for asset already
reached the the runtime, interval days, or list date on the range of date
material/sparepart and operation required already determined on the maintenance bom and
maintenance routing
executor will pick the material based on maintenance bom and perform the operation based on
maintenance routing
incase the work order need to be executed by third party a requisition will be created. then it will
converted to purchase order
certificate of completion will be signed off when third party finishes the repairment
based on the certificate of completion, planner or executor will receive the purchase order. then invoice
to payment can be processed
after asset operates normally, the work order can be completed and closed
