WAGE RANGE: $9.14-$13.39/Hour

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facility Repair Assistant is responsible for assisting in the general upkeep, repair and maintenance of the University Student Union.

JOB DUTIES
• Assists the Facility Maintenance Engineer in the general upkeep, repair and maintenance of the University Student Union
• Performs basic non-skilled tasks in the field of carpentry, ceiling tile repair, wall repair, framing, demolition and interior
construction and repair work
• Performs minor repairs on plumbing system
• Performs minor repairs on circuits, small appliances and audio-visual equipment
• Performs minor repairs to doors, locks, safety and security hardware, cabinets and office furniture
• Completes and processes work orders in a timely manner
• General knowledge in installation of surface conduit, wire pulling and fixtures troubleshooting
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
• Must be a currently enrolled California State University Northridge student

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES


• Basic knowledge in the proper use, care, operation and safety procedures of hand tools and power tools such as saws, grinders,
drills, etc.
• Mechanical aptitude and background skills in one of the maintenance fields a plus
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proven interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS


Work is typically performed both indoors and out and in possible inclement weather conditions. Ability to work under pressure and
adhere to deadlines is required. Ability to work with others in a shared office space required. Frequent public contact required,
including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests.
