SECTION 8 HVAC SYSTEM

8.1 AIR CONDITIONING
8.1.1 EXTENT OF CONTRACT`
The work under this section of the specification shall include for the supply deli!ery to
site installation testin" and co##issionin" and settin" to work the new Air conditionin"
and $entilation syste#s for the Reno!ation of %one&'( Park as "i!en hereunder)
All air conditionin" and !entilation syste# co#plete with all accessories and controls as
per specifications schedules and drawin"s*
Co#plete air distri+ution syste#, and !entilation syste# as shown on the drawin"s and
as specified*
$arious controls instru#ents and their connections electrical works related to air
conditionin" and !entilation syste#s as detailed in the specifications*
All other works which are necessary to co#plete and insure "ood perfor#ance and
inte"rity of the installations*
The Contractor shall pro!ide all the #aterials la+our carta"e plant and appliances
necessary for the supply installation testin" and co##issionin" of the work and all other
#inor and incidental works necessary for the syste#*
The specifications and drawin"s are intended to indicate the nature and scope of the
pro-ect* The Contractor shall +e responsi+le for the installation of plant of the correct
capacity and shall "uarantee the efficient perfor#ance of the e.uip#ent*
8.1.2 EXCLUSIONS
Ite#s necessary for the co#pletion of the plant +ut not included in the tender are to +e
listed as e/clusions* It will +e assu#ed that any ite#s or ser!ices necessary to the air
conditionin" plant and not specifically e/cluded will +e pro!ided +y the Contractor e!en
if not #entioned in the tender*
8.1.3 STANDARD OF WORKS

Appro!al of pro"ra##e +y the En"ineer or Client shall not relie!e the Contractor fro# his
o+li"ations to e/ecute and co#plete the works in confor#ity with the directions and
re.uire#ents of the En"ineer*

+uilt= drawin"s and loose ite#s if any to the Client +efore practical co#pletion* The
co#pletion certificate will +e issued +y the En"ineer after o+tainin" the Operation and
7aintenance #anuals*
Reco##endation for release or the release of Practical Co#pletion Certificate would not
a+sol!e the Contractor of his responsi+ility to pro!ide the installation co#plete in all
respects and in satisfactory workin" order* If any ite# is disco!ered later durin"
co##issionin" #aintenance period or at F*C*C* sta"e to +e short supplied or not in
workin" order the Contractor shall +e lia+le to #ake "ood the sa#e to the satisfaction of

with one coat of under&coat and two coats of ena#el paint finish appro!in" colour*

The work descri+ed on any shop drawin" su+#itted shall +e properly checked +y the
Contractor for all clearance field conditions #aintenance space and proper co&ordination*
E.uip#ent layout is to +e detailed on drawin"s showin" the e/act #ethod of installin" and
clearly illustratin" co#ponents to +e used in #akin" all connections*
The Contractor shall su+#it to the En"ineer shop drawin"s for appro!al +efore work is
fa+ricated and installed*
All "eneral layout drawin"s are to +e drawn in : ) AD scale* 9etails of han"ers #ethod of
fi/in" of pipes and ducts ducts and risers details of control and pipin" connections to
e.uip#ent are to +e drawn in : ) <A scale*
In case the Contractor fails to produce the shop drawin"s and co&ordinated shop drawin"s
in accordance with the specified4a"reed ti#e schedule the En"ineer reser!es the ri"ht to
en"a"e an outside a"ency to undertake this work and de+it the entire cost to the
Contractor=s account*
All drawin"s prepared +y the Contractor shall +e su+#itted in the for# of three sets of
+lue prints to the En"ineer for appro!al who in turn after #akin" his co##ents will return
one set of the sa#e to the Contractor for necessary re!isions if any* Thereafter the
Contractor shall su+#it fi!e sets of +lue prints for the En"ineer=s final appro!al* Once the
drawin"s are finally appro!ed the Contractor shall su+#it in reproduci+le copy ne"ati!e
for En"ineer=s si"nature and the sa#e shall +e kept on site for e/ecution*
It is the Contractor=s responsi+ility to co&ordinate all other ser!ices to +e affected to allow
a co#pletely sy##etrical proper and neat installation*
The Contractor shall supply to the En"ineer a set of =As&installed= drawin"s showin" the
works =As&installed= to"ether with any other infor#ation necessary for operation and
#aintenance* Si/ copies of each such drawin" shall +e supplied* In addition two sets of
copy ne"ati!es for each drawin" shall +e handed o!er to the Client*

The Contractor shall #ake pro!ision for the supply of three copies of the Instruction
7anual +efore issue of Practical Co#pletion Certificate* This #anual shall include the

Co#plete list of e.uip#ent controls and accessories as actually supplied includin" serial
nos* and all na#e plate details*
A set of =As&+uilt= drawin"s showin" e.uip#ent layout* The drawin"s shall show plans and
sections necessary to show all re.uired infor#ation correctly*
A set of #anufacturer=s catalo"ues wirin" dia"ra# and installation drawin"s rele!ant only
to the particular ite# of !entilation e.uip#ent concerned* ?eneral catalo"ues will not +e

8.8 TEST AT SITE
8.8.1 GENERAL
The Contractor shall su+#it to the En"ineer one #onth prior to the date of
co##ence#ent of the tests si/ 5'6 copies of the co#plete test procedures to +e used*
The procedure #ethod of calculation etc* shall +e appro!ed +y the En"ineer +efore any
test is carried out* Si/ 5'6 copies of the test results shall +e furnished to the En"ineer for
his appro!al*
The Contractor shall supply skilled staff and all necessary instru#ents and carry out tests
of any kind on a piece of e.uip#ent apparatus part of syste# or a co#plete syste# if the
Consultant re.uests such a test for deter#inin" specified or "uaranteed data as "i!en in
the specifications or in the schedule of e.uip#ent filled in +y the Contractor*
Any da#a"e resultin" fro# the tests shall +e repaired and4or da#a"ed #aterial replaced
all to the satisfaction of the En"ineer* In the e!ent of any repair or ad-ust#ent re.uired to
+e #ade other than the nor#al runnin" ad-ust#ent the tests shall +e !oid and shall +e
reco##ended after the ad-ust#ents or repairs ha!e +een co#pleted* The tests shall not
+e !oid due to circu#stances +eyond the Contractor=s control*
8.8.2 E7#&89(*$
All !entilatin" e.uip#ent shall deli!er the specified air .uantities indicated on the
drawin"s*
8here the e.uip#ent or syste#s depend upon controls for proper operation functionin"
and perfor#ance the latter shall +e operated si#ultaneously with the e.uip#ent or
syste# durin" tests*
Other tests as specified under the specific e.uip#ent headin"s are to +e co#pleted to the
satisfaction of the En"ineer*

All electrical e.uip#ent shall +e cleaned and tested on site +efore application of power as

After finishin" the a+o!e tests and ad-ust#ents the Contractor shall +e responsi+le for
runnin" a relia+ility trial test for the whole plant installed* The whole of the trial of the plant
shall take place durin" the appropriate seasons when desi"n conditions are #et or
appro/i#ated* The trial shall take place at any reasona+le ti#e su+-ect to the appro!al of
the En"ineer* The trial shall last for a period of thirty one 5@:6 consecuti!e days durin"
which ti#e the whole of the plant shall operate continuously without read-ust#ents or
repair to the satisfaction of the En"ineer*
9urin" the relia+ility trial test perfor#ance tests shall +e conducted on the refri"eratin"
and air conditionin" e.uip#ent* The test data shall not de!iate +y #ore than three
percent fro# the "uaranteed capacity data* Te#perature readin"s shall +e taken for the
enterin" and lea!in" air of each air handlin" unit* Should any part of the apparatus or
syste# fail to #eet with the specification re.uire#ents it shall +e ad-usted repaired or
replaced to the satisfaction of the En"ineer* The co#plete perfor#ance test shall then +e
repeated* The date of co##ence#ent of the a+o!e said tests shall +e su+-ect to
a"ree#ent with the En"ineer* As soon as all tests prescri+ed in this clause are carried out
satisfactorily in the opinion of the En"ineer a for#al letter of co#pletion shall +e drawn up
in three 5@6 copies and si"ned +y the En"ineer*
9urin" the #aintenance period the Contractor shall de#onstrate that all e.uip#ent and
apparatus fulfill the re.uire#ents of the specifications and he shall operate all fans
refri"eration and air conditionin" e.uip#ent for a sufficient ti#e to ad-ust all da#pers
ther#ostats and controls and shall pro!ide the En"ineer with a co#plete lo" and report
indicatin" air .uantities fan speed etc* throu"hout each of the !arious syste#s for the
operatin" seasons*
8.8." M.&*$(*.*+( T(%$
9urin" ;DD days #aintenance period the operation and day to day routine #aintenance
of the e.uip#ent shall +e carried out +y the owner=s staff whereas the defects 4 failure in
the e.uip#ent not as a result of inade.uate #aintenance shall +e part of the Contractor=s
responsi+ility and shall +e rectified free of cost +y the Contractor*
9urin" the last #onth of the 7aintenance period the Contractor shall de#onstrate to the
En"ineer that all e.uip#ent is operatin" accordin" to the capacities and the #anner set
down in the specifications* On co#pletion of these tests the En"ineer shall issue a
for#al letter of acceptance for the e.uip#ent and syste# or parts of the syste#
satisfactorily tested and appro!ed*
The 7aintenance Certificate will not +e issued to the Contractor +y the En"ineer until all
plant has recei!ed the a+o!e #entioned letter of acceptance and4or unless a +ank
"uarantee is pro!ided +y the Contractor for the perfor#ance of that part of the plant and
e.uip#ent not for#ally tested and accepted*
8.@ SPLIT TYPE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT

The plant re.uired shall consist of split type air conditionin" unit of wall #ounted type*
The unit shall +e co#posed of an indoor unit with refri"erant circuit and an air cooled
