The Clars Foundation is a
non-proft organization whose
main aims are the fght against
profound hearing loss and offer
medical cooperation in Third
World countries in the ORL feld.
The Clars Foundation attends
the needs in Emergent coun-
tries, and at the same time
provides scholarships to doc-
tors with no fnancial resources,
since 1997. Offers instructional
courses in Emergent Eastern Eu-
rope countries, Asia, Africa.
The Clars Foundation, for
years has been conducting its
mission in the felds of audiolo-
gy, speech rehabilitation, otho-
rhinolaryngology, phoniatrics,
facial plastic surgery and oral
surgery. These projects have
been materialized in many parts
of the world, including India,
Rumania, Republic of Moldavia,
Ethiopia, Senegal, Liberia, Ca-
meroon, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya,
D.R. Congo, Sudan and shortly
Ghana, Mozambique and Angola
with the donation of medical
supplies, essential life-saving
medicines, and needed medi-
cal equipment which otherwise
would not be available, and
providing free medical care and
surgeries to people in need, as
well.
Additionally, donates and adapts
hearing aids and some hearing
implants to patients affected
with hypoacusia.

Barraquer Foundation
The Barraquer Foundation was
founded in the year 2003 by
Prof. Joaquin Barraquer and Drs.
Rafael and Elena Barraquer. Its
main objective is the diffusion
of ophthalmology and become
universal in its most humanita-
rian aspect.
Among its sphere of action
stands out to facilitate fnancial
and assistance aid to patients in
need at Third World countries.
The Joaquin Barraquer Re-
search Chair in Ophthalmology
offers support to ophthalmology
investigations, award scholar-
ships in the feld of ophthalmo-
logy and promote The Eye Bank
for the Treatment of Blindness.
The Barraquer Foundation has
collaborated jointly with the
Clars Foundation at several
humanitarian expeditions in
countries such as India, Gabon,
Camern, Kenya, D.R. Congo,
Senegal and in few months, Gha-
na.
Other projects are being planned
for this year in Africa.

be set up.

Real transformation of the operating rooms.

Each of us has a role.

In few hours the operating rooms are transformed.
We began attending patients.

Clinical case selection.
Some are tragic.
The Virgins gaze accompanies us.

Four operating tables are active.

The surgeries are conducted one after the other one.

formations and many
children to be ope-
rated on.

lip cases and 2 orbital exenteration cases.
