With the growing demand for automated testing ELE offer DataSystem 7, a com-
pletely new suite of geotechnical data acquisition, analysis, and reportingsoftware
replacing the very successful and widely used DS6 range of programs.
DataSystem 7 is designed to record, analyze and report test data per ASTM,
AASHTO, and British Standards for Quick-Undrained Triaxial, CU/CD Triaxial,
Consolidation, Direct/Residual Shear and CBR tests.
The software runs on a personal computer connected to the ELE ADU data log-
ger with transducers and has been designed and written for use by engineers and
technicians.
Each package is user-friendly and guides the user through the test procedure in
accordance with the selected Standard (ASTM/AASHTO or BS). Standard screen
layouts present sample details, test stage, menu options and data entry.
The engineer has total control over those areas of analysis where an engineering
judgement is required. The test techniques and methods follow generally accepted
geotechnical engineering practice.
All test data and reports are automatically filed in a logical folder structure based
on Job Number, Test Type & Sample Number. Files for each test are given a unique
name, based on sample i.d., date and time. This system allows easy identification of
historical test data and ensures that test data will never be accidentally over-writ-
ten.
To take full advantage of the extensive reporting facility the package provides,
Microsoft Word (Version 97 or later) should be resident on the system. This facility
will allow reports to be generated automatically.
The packages of software required are accessed by an activation code, supplied by
ELE, allowing the customer to build up a suite of software on an as required basis.
Each program is complete in its own right and can be integrated into the system
at any time.
Please refer to the following page for a detailed listing of the packages available.

Tri-Flex 2 Master Control Panel
Three independent channels of pressure control.
Digital pressure display system to an accuracy of 0.25%
of reading within range.
User-friendly burette system.
Easy removal of burette/annulus assembly for cleaning.
Bridging feature to set multiple burette pressures with
one regulator.
Quick disconnects for easy system setup.
Easily expands for multi-cell test.
Straightforward in design, the Tri-Flex 2 Master Control Panel meets the demands
for an accurate, yet simple-to-operate panel system for use in triaxial and
permeability testing. The panel is easy to operate, with a limited number of
controls and an easy-to-read digital pressure display system. Fast, easy connection
and removal of additional system components allow quick system setup.
The operator has complete control of system pressure and flow measurements
during specimen testing, with three independently-controlled pressure regulators
one for confining or cell pressure; one for lower or pore/head pressure; and
one for upper or back/tail pressure. The bridging feature lets the operator quickly
set the pressures of multiple burette systems with just one regulator.
Each burette/annulus assembly has a selector which opens or closes the access to
the annulus. When opened, up to 400 ml of water is available to the operator for
specimen saturation and other test stages without refilling the burette assembly.
By a simple flip of a switch to activate the digital pressure display system, any of
the regulated pressures can be displayed in digital form to an accuracy of 0.25%
of reading within range.
The Tri-Flex 2 Master Control Panel is designed in full compliance with ASTM and
AASHTO specifications for use in the application, monitoring and data recording
of test conditions.

Unconfined Compression Tester,
Hand Operated
ASTM D-2166; AASHTO T-208.
Lightweight design for laboratory and field use.
Supplied complete and ready to operate.
The unconfined compression test is an important method of determining shear
strength of cohesive and semi-cohesive soils. The test is widely used to supply
information needed for the design and construction of civil engineering structures
of many kinds, such as buildings, bridges, dams, and embankments.
Test loads are applied to the specimen through a gearing arrangement located in
the totally enclosed base. The gear train is actuated by a two-piece aluminum hand
crank. The rate of strain can be regulated during the test by turning the hand crank
at the desired rate. Loads are indicated on a proving ring and dial indicator assem-
bly. Readings on the dial are converted to the load applied to the specimen by
using the calibration charts supplied with each unit.

Pre-set blow pattern ensures even compaction.
Solid state controls for reliability and ease of maintenance.
Automatic counter reset after completion of blow pattern.
The time and effort required to prepare specimens for compaction studies and
other test methods can often be costly and time consuming. The ELE Compactor
automatically compacts soil specimens, thereby eliminating the laborious hand
compaction method. The height and weight of the hammer is adjustable to suit
test requirements.
An automatic blow pattern ensures optimum compaction for each layer of soil.
The hammer itself travels across the mold and the table rotates the mold in equal
steps on a base that is extremely stable. The number of blows per layer can be set
at the beginning of the test by means of the simple digital counter system.
