Not only that, students do not automatically know how to behave in all settings and

situations. So, as an effective teacher, teachers must make sure to teach acceptable
behaviour through modelling, explanation, and practice. The most important classroom rule

know what to expect in the classroom. Most important, without a plan teachers tend to be
inconsistent. One day they may ignore students who are talking, yelling, or disrupting the
class. The next day they may severely discipline students for the same behaviours. It is not
enough just to read it aloud or display it on a poster. Teacher can explain to students why
the rules are needed, explain how teacher will reward the students who follow the rules and
so on. An effective discipline plan is also applied fairly to all students. Every student who
disrupts the classroom and stops the teacher from teaching has to face the same
consequence. Teacher can send a written plan to parents, who then know beforehand what
the teacher's standards are and what will be done when students choose to misbehave.

variation. Students must be taught the rules and boundaries within which they are expected
to function. A well-administered discipline plan with incentives in the form of rewards and
