OrCAD 15.7: detailed instructions of installations procedure by Nasdaq Boom

Insert OrCAD 15.7 CD1 into CD-ROM and click on Install software (otherwise launch the Setup
program), choose I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on Next button. Click on Set
Up Licensing button, click on Next and, after the missing license message, click on OK and 2 times
on Next to install the License Manager. When a window appear to install OrCADs components,
click on Yes and then on OK.
At this time will appear a window License Manager Communication; click on Next, then on OK and
in the window Control File Location click on Next. Select the components to install and click 5
times on Next button.
OrCAD will install its components (is possible that the program require the OrCADs CD2, it
depends of the components that you have choose to install), then will appear a registration window
of extension; click on Yes and then again on Yes. Click on OK and restart your PC clicking on
Finish.
Go into the Crack folder and double click on the Keygen; click on Generate button. A license file
(license.dat) will appear and you must modify it.
Copy this license file into the same folder where you have installed the License Manager (default is
C:\OrCAD\license_manager). Open the license file with NotePad (or with another text editor); it
will present in this way:

You must modify the red rows. Delete this_host and substitute it with the name of yours PC (to see
this name go in Control panel --> System --> Computer name and see on Full computer name,
e.g. Johns-PC).
On the second row add the path to the license file (how is indicated in the above red row). If you
have used the default settings, you can copy the row how it is written previously. Save and exit.

Important note: you must copy the license file into the License Manager folder or this procedure
cant work correctly.

At this point you must modify the environmental variable of Windows to find the license.
To do this go in Control panel --> System --> Advanced and click on Environmental Variables.
In the bottom, on Systems variables you will find a CDS_LIC_FILE string (if this string is not
present you must create it); double click on it and modify the value with the path to the license file
(see image).

Click on OK button.
Its not the end, but we are arrived nearly!

Go in C:\OrCAD\license_manager folder and double click on lmtools.exe file; then go in the
Start/Stop/Reread card:



Click on Start Server button; it will appear in the bottom on the left the Server Start Successful
message (otherwise the message will say that the Server is already running). At this point click on
ReRead License File button. If after some seconds the message Reread Server License File
Completed will appear everything is gone OK! Close the LMTOOLS window.

Copy NOLIC.COM file from the Crack folder to the system32 folder of Windows (according to
your Windows version, the default path to this folder is C:\WINDOWS\system32 or
c:\winnt\system32).
Click with the right mouse button on crack.bat file and choose Edit menu (alternatively you can
open it with NotePad or with another text editor); it will present in this way:

You must check and in case edit the red rows with the right path (read on). If you have used the
default settings, in the file there is nothing to edit, otherwise you must substitute the first row with
the drive letter where OrCAD was installed (e.g. d:, e:, etc.) and the other rows (only the red part)
with the path to the OrCADs tools folder (dont report the drive letter). Save and exit.
Double click on the edited crack.bat file and wait the end of all operations. In case of some error,
click on the Ignore button.

At this point you have ended the cracking procedure.
Close all windows and run OrCAD.

FINAL NOTE: We have noted that the applications Capture and Capture CIS are slow to run, but,
after a short time (about 1 minute), they work fine.
