Independence day Speech in English, 15 August Speech

Honorable Chief Guest of the day, distinguished guests for the occasion, teachers,
parents and all my dear friends wish you very very Happy Independence Day.
As you know all of us have gathered here to celebrate 67th independence day of our
nation. This day, after the hosting national flag, we salute and remember the heroic
deeds of all freedom fighters. As a citizen of India, I feel so proud to give a speech on
Independence Day and share some of my views with you all. On the night of August 14,
1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rose to make a speech on Independence day in New
Delhi, When the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom. India became free
from the British rule. Now, India is the largest democratic country in the world. The
countrys strength is to find, Unity in diversity. But, there are stray incidents that test her
secularism but the people of India are ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of unity.
My dear friends,We were the privileged lot to have been born in free India. We were able
to breathe the fresh free air since our birth. If at all we want to know the pangs of agony
of being slaves under a foreign rule, we must ask our elders born before 1947. It was
indeed a Himalayan task for every Indian those days to fight against those powerful
giants the British rulers. We must not allow those hard times and struggles fade away
from our memories.Hence it is befitting for us to celebrate such National festivals and
recall those heroic deeds of our National heroes. We remember them today.
Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will
redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of
the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A
moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the
new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.
We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again.
Today we remember the great leaders who gave their lives for the nations freedom and
prosperity. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an Industrialized India. Gandhi ji taught us Ahimsa and
Non-violence. Subhash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekanand gave
us spiritual power. But its not good to remember the heroic deeds of only few main
leaders of freedom fight because the freedom fighting was collective effort. Without
cooperation, sacrifice and involvement of all Indians it was impossible to get the
freedom. So people of India were the real national heroes behind the success. We
should express our sincere gratitude to all those who participated in the freedom
struggle. This can only be done by defending our freedom like our ancestral property
which cannot be valued.
But the questions arises How to defend?
We know that Single person cannot defend it; again group effort is essential, it is nothing
but unity.
But again How to form this unity?
We should always remember that only patriotism can form unity irrespective of religion,
language, caste, customs and traditions. So having patriotism only can save the
freedom of our nation.
To keep faith in secularism
No compromise must be with patriotism,
Punish the forces that support terrorism
Else one bad day we will loose our freedom.
Well at the end we must take an oath that let us do our duty of preparing ourselves to be
well-educated citizens of tomorrow. Let us do our duty sincerely and do work hard to
achieve a goal. Today we require youngsters with lot of knowledge and energy. Illiteracy
is the first enemy for a democratic nation. Let us get rid of illiteracy and take India to a
bright future.
Jai Hind!!! Jai Bharat..!!!!
We wish each and every Citizen of India 68th Happy Independence Day 2014 !!!
Lets say loudly on this 15 August Proud to be an Indian !!!
15 August Speech

India celebrate her Independence Day on 15th August every year. The day is being
celebrated since India won her freedom from the foreign rule on 15th August 1947 and
became a sovereign nation. Being born in a free country, Living and taking breath in free
air is a privilege given to us by great leaders of this nation, those who thought for this
nations life rather than their personal lives.
There are innumerable number of leaders who fought for freedom some fought for
spiritual development, some for social and some for whole country. We had spiritual
leaders like Vivekananda who while given his speech at Chicago Religious conference
in 1993 swayed the whole mass and compelled them to think that Indian intellectual is
none less than any other in the world. We had leaders like Mahatma Gandhi who by
means of his non-violence practice gave a new ideology to this whole world. We had
leaders like Dr. Ambedkar who worked throughout his life for the upliftment of the
downtrodden of the Indian society, any many more. Today we are here to honour them,
and to remember.
Concluding my speech, summarizing all my thoughts I want to say -
We owe a lot to our leaders, those who laid down their life so that the country could live.
There are no such words that further can define their sacrifice for this vary nation. Our
true service to our mother land will be the only true tribute to them.
Jai Hind, Jai Bharat
