YOM 24/7 Basic Training for Christian Service Study
The purpose of this study is to enlighten, equip, and encourage the youth of Kyuka Missionary Baptist Church to boldly communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. It is the desire and the responsibility of our Church to make disciples of all who will hear (Matt. 28:19). Bearing this in mind, it is the young members of the Church who are often neglected and as a result never become fully mature in their faith.
The Christian life is a life of discipleship. The call to discipleship (to follow Jesus) is often thought of in terms of self denial and commitment as it well should be. After all, it was Jesus Himself who said, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me (Luke 9:23). But we should also note that the Master spoke about discipleship in other terms as well. In Matthew 11:29 Jesus spoke of discipleship as an invitation to rest and to take upon ourselves His yoke and to learn of Him.
The English word, disciple is often translated from a Greek word which literally means a student, pupil or adherent. We must assume that when Jesus used the word disciple in the Gospels, He was speaking of both learning and following. In fact, in John 8:31 it was Jesus who said, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: The goal of this seven session study then is to contribute to the discipleship of our young believers at Kyuka by instructing them in the basic doctrines and ideas of the Christian faith. At the end of each session, the student is challenged to complete a task designed to enlighten, equip and encourage them to be committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
