7/09: Currently between projects and commissions.

4/19/09- 4/22/09 Community project in Culver City , Ca involving the repaint of a badly
vandalized Community Mural called “The Postcards from La Ballona”, on the bike path
in the Ballona Creek , by the Julian Dixon Library, on Overland Ave .

1/09:Research for Heavy steel Artwork frames including estimant.

2/09:Research for extensive residential Gold Leaf Project.

1/09 Research on Public Art Commission consisting of four large Mosaics

9/08-12/08: Working for an organization called SPARC, in Venice ,CA .Restoration of 4


-8ft x 8ft heavy(500lbs) painted wood panels , called the“ Guadalupe Panels “series.
Repaired water damage , consolidated panels structural integrity , and closed seams,
allowing for re-prime ,re-paint and re-seal.

11/7/2007 to 6/19/08: Working on a private Estate , known as Falcon Lair , Estate of


Actor Rudolph Valentino. Extensive work in Glass Mosaic on Altar- like outdoor
structure .Thousands of ¾ “ glass tiles and pre fabricated Gold Tiles were used on that
project, which features four of the five World Religions ,prefabricated Gold Tiles and
very difficult radiuses to cover with that material. Project lasted twelve weeks , including
research.
Extensive work in Stone , for artistic motif 16’ x 20’ describing a Falcon. Project lasted
8 weeks from start to finish, and consisted in cutting 10.2 tons of flagstones of different
colors and 3 tons of marble in length and shape , and install them in a difficult location.
1/2006 to 11/7/2007 : Working on private estate in Orange County , California. Metal
Works , Wall treatments , Maintenance , Ceiling Paintings, Mosaics.
5/2004-1/2006: Working on a private Estate in the San Fernando Valley Area . Project
reminiscent of Motion Picture Industry Golden Age. Metal treatment, Music and Motion
Picture -related wall treatments, Original Art , and Oriental Art ceiling treatment.
Oriental Bathroom ceiling Mosaic Glass tile Treatment. Bathroom light fixtures heavy
glass tile treatment , Fire place decoration, Mosaic work for Pool decoration, w/ Gold
Tiles. Outdoor Terrace ceiling decoration, Interior Music -theme 3D Relief Art work .
5/2002-5/2004: Large Project consisting of Gazebo-Island-type structure , in center of
reflection Pond, covered with ¾” Italian Mosaic Glass Tiles , and fabricated Gold Glass
Tiles , approx.450sqft.
Large project consisting of a wall perimeter Treatment with fabricated Gold Tiles , hand
cut Italian Tiles and Geometric Patterns. Approx. 100 linear feet.
Large project consisting of the decoration of a Masonry Arch , surface treated with pre-
cast limestone panels.Approx.10ft high x10ft wide x 3 ft deep. Treatment inside the
Arch represents large mural in glass tile of the 79A.D. eruption of the Vesuvius Volcano
and was based on research and epoch documents. Arch was flanked by two stone
balustrades , and two walls ,also treated and completing the coastline and the Port of
Pompeii itself . Mural was set in back of two limestone pedestals , also covered in glass
tiles forming geometric patterns.
Large project consisting of 8’ tall pillars in masonry and treated with Italian glass tiles,
and representing Mythological characters.
5/2001-5/2002:Various Paint Decoration projects in Orange County California.
Restoration, repair and maintenance of existing murals. Creation of an archeologically
correct mural in Egyptian style , covered with thousands of hieroglyphs and mythological
Egyptian characters. Acrylic paint, full color , and water sealed. Approx. 60ft x 6ft tall.
1/2000-5/2002:City of Los Angeles Public Art Project , in ECHO Park, at New Child
Care Facility. Naïve Style Mural , approx. 10’x12’, with Echo Park Festival in the
background.
7/1999-1/2000:Various personal works in Acrylics and Oil . On canvas or other materials.
4/1999-7/1999: Commissioned to replicate a Paul Gauguin painting in Glass Mosaic on
an area of approx100 sqft , wrapping a bathroom on a yacht.
2/1999-4/1999 Extensive wood panel work in Oil Paint , representing Ocean Life , Flora
and Fauna, hundreds of fish , then translated into backlit transparencies.
10/1998-1/1999: Commissioned to decorate a 20’ x 20’ ceiling in Orange County
Residence representing a Trompe l’oeil of architectural Structures, combined with
mythological scenes.
Commissioned to design Cover Art for Culver City Art Magazine. Full Color in Acrylic
Paint.
9/98-10/98: Commissioned to paint ex-votos on standard Church stainglass windows, at
St Augustine Church in Culver City , California.
1997-9/1998: Commissioned by the City of culver City to assemble and install an 18ft x
23ft glass Mosaic for the Culver City Police Dpt Expansion Project .This project was
successfully installed and is now the largest Glass Mosaic tile Mural in Southern
California on a Public Building.
4/97-8/97 : I was commissioned to work on a renovation/remodeling project, consisting
of the transformation of a tennis court into an Italian Baroque garden. Project required
complete site plans , floor plans, as well as cut outs and elevations for a structure located
in the garden. Construction progress drawings were needed , as well as original marble
floors and pool design. Original metal guardrail and balustrades designs were also
implemented implemented over the entire site. Faux finish treatment over some of the
masonry .
8/96-4/97: I worked for S.P.A.R.C. for the duration of four projects; restoration project at
the Watts Art Center , on a mural Called “CECIL”; a second project of restoration at
Jefferson Park on Jefferson Blvd , on a mural called “Black Seed”; athird project at
SPARC itself , which was a map of Los Angeles, and a fourth project as an assistant of
Judy Baca on her Work called “La sangre de Nuestra Tierra” (“The blood of [our soil] the
Earth“), painted in acrylics on canvas , now at UCLA.
7/96: Commissioned to paint the Mural “Laurel and Hardy “on the back of Stellar
Hardware, located on Main Street Culver City , California. Stellar Harware is located on
the premises of what used to be Hal Roach Studios. This mural is important to the MGM
Community members , a lot of whom still live in and around Culver city. This Mural is
painted in Oil on masonry and measures 23’ x 42’. Laure and Hardy faces are 8ft tall.
9/91-6/96 : Commissioned to single handedly redecorate a private residence in the Irvine,
Orange County ,California.Project was extensive and consisted ofMural Paintings ,
Ceiling Paintings, as well as Trompel’oeil Murals, painted in Oil on Masonry, on
furniture , on panels. The 237 works + , ranged from size 8” x 10” , to 25ft x 35ft and
larger. And consisted of Museum quality replicas of the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries
from France , Spain , Italy , Holland, as well as original Artworks. Floor designs and
ornament/fixture designs also figure on the list of project accomplished. Extensive 24kt
gilding as well , throughout the project, as well as cataloguing, and architectural drafting
for some of the rooms. Floor Plans and Cut outs, in some cases. Project totaled over a
thousand portraits and figures
1988/91:Commissioned to paint Portraits and Aquarium backgrounds.
1988: Worked in a serigraph Printing Company and worked on personal work.
1986-1987: Worked as an apprentice billboard painter for Foster and Kleiser. First
apprentice hired in fifteen years, I completed or repainted 15ft x45ft Outdoor advertising
billboards , but suffered an industrial accident.
1985/1986: Took on various Commissions, small billboards, restaurant decorations, , and
recreation of masterpieces , 16th Century to Impressionists , as well as abstract and
Cubist Art.. Large and consistent Production of personal works in oil at a pace of about
100 a year , in color , in black and white , mostly from Life and Nature , consisting of the
classic genres :Portraiture , Still Lives , and Landscapes.
1984/1985 : Commissioned to decorate a large discotheque on the Costa del Sol , in
Spain , . Also created works of Religious inspiration on paper and on wood board (icons)
1982-1984 : Worked in Art Supply Stores, , learning Artistic technical technology, and
availability of Art Supplies and Goods. Private commissions for Business cards, Logos,
Religious and Inspirational Art, T-shirt designs for special events,. I also designed several
record covers for recording artists and for a College Music Recording Department. I
also designed a robot-like conveyor belt/assembling machine for a Numerical Control
Company.
1979/1982: Worked in the garment industry as a shop manager and pattern designer for
jackets , vests , seat covers and shoes.
1978 : Worked in France and Spain as a freelance Photographer. I had my own clients
but also subcontracted as an assistant photographer for a large European Fashion
Magazine as well as for Beauty shots and Cosmetic Campaigns. I also helped many
models in composite creation.
1977 : Worked for a French Clothing Designer , and in Furniture Design , as well as a n
intern in an Architectural Firm.
1975-1977: Attended Vocational two year Interior Architecture School , that Included :
Life Drawing sessions , drafting techniques, Architectural Drafting, Site Plans, Floor
Plans and elevations, as well as cut out; Research of Materials and Techniques , as well as
Museum show visit and analysis which resulted in the creation of Artwork by the
students , inspired by the show , and critiqued by the classroom.
Historical background research in various styles. Theory and practice in black and white
Photography , darkroom processing , and printing with many different black and white
emulsions. Architectural three dimensional model renderings, renderings in gouache , ink
, pencil, etc. Bilingual classes were necessary because of the presence of many foreign
companies in the Franco-European Market at the time. Some class projects were
sponsored by real Life companies which offered cash prizes for research and
development. Grades resulted in Positions or Internships as apprentice architects/
drafters in Architectural Firms.

OTHER EXPERIENCES

4/99-6/99 : CULVER City Middle School , where I assisted Drama Students in


Designing floor plans and backdrops for the theatrical, Production of “Fame”

6/98-5/98: Culver City Mural Class for 6th and 8th graders. Instruction in Mural painting,
design and implementation , as well as exhibition of the results at Culver City City Hall.

5/96-6/96 : El Rincon Elementary School . I directed 96 students in step by step design


and tracing , as well as painting a 10ft x 15 ft mural located on the cafeteria wall and
tiled :” The Space Program” that illustrated the presence and importance of the Space
Program in the World at large and particularly in Southern California. This Mural as been
archived /documented , but was removed because of extensive damage.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

5/97: Ballona Creek Renaissance Project . I was one of three Artists, who participated in
the creation of the Ballona Creek Mural Prototype ,a mural work located by the bike
track in the creek , on the side of the local Library Branch, , at Overland Avenue. Students
created and traced Artwork on the retaining wall in the creek. Design classes lasted ten
hours, at the School , and then the on site instruction lasted two weeks. The Mural
experience was a good one for all the students involved , . The work was titled “Postcards
from La Ballona “ and illustrated the role and history of the Ballona Creek in that Area,
under the form of a film strip framing postcard-like images. I also , with another Artist,
installed a commemorative Ceramic Tile Mural in the Creek by the mural. Tile Mural
spelled out the credits , sponsors , and the scale of the Community involvement.
3/97-3/98: Involved with USC Architecture Students in an effort to re-develop the
Ballona Creek adjacent areas in Culver City Proper.
4/96 : I painted a Mural in Acrylic paint at Blanco Park, under the auspices of the Parks
and Recreation Dpt , in an effort to help a flag-football team named “The Sharks”. The
Mural measures 20ft x 25ft
President of the Culver City A.R.T. group for one year, an Artist Association stated
by other Artists. I was active in the Association for a period of three years.
Park and Service Foundation: as a member of this Committee, I assisted in funding
many Community Projects such as Theatre in the Parks, and upkeep of Recreational
Facilities , as well as purchase of equipment .
Community Service Awards: I received an Award from Blanco Park, two commendations
from the City of Culver City , and a commendation from the City of Los Angeles , for
Services rendered in both communities , in relation with Cultural Activities.

Fluent in Spanish , French, a solid base in German, Latin.
