*****Creating A System Copy Plan:- ***********

1.Consider the downtime of the source system (for preparations and copying) when planning the system copy.
2. Perform a test run of the system copy. You can use the time taken by the test run to calculate the system downtime:
If your target system will replace your source system, try to perform a complete test run. his means that the entire database is e!ported from the
source system, transferred to the target system, and imported there. "ystem downtime is appro!imately e#ual to the total test time (that is, time
for e!port, transport, and import).
If you do not want to replace your source system, a partial test run (e!port of the entire database or parts of it) can be sufficient to calculate the
system downtime. he source system is only down for the time of the e!port.
Calculating the system downtime is particularly important for $ery large databases (%&'() or when tapes are being used. he test run is also to
determine the amount of e!port data. Choose the best data transfer method (for e!ample, )P or tape). *e recommend that you only perform
read+write actions on local file systems.
,.'efine a schedule for the test migration and the final migration.
which copy methods are available for your database system:-
Choosing an SAP system ID:- You can choose the new "-P system I' .-/012"-P"I'3 freely during a new installation
( You must choose different "-P system I's for different "-P systems.)
SAP license
4nce the installation is completed and the "-P system copy has been imported, you will re#uire a new license key for the target system. he
license key of the source system is not $alid for this system. )or more information about ordering and installing the "-P license, refer to
http:++help.sap.com+nw56"-P 7et*ea$er 5.6 &ibrary (including 1nhancement Package 8) 1nglish"-P 7et*ea$er &ibrary"-P 7et*ea$er by
9ey Capability"olution &ife Cycle :anagement "-P &icenses.
)or more information about "-P license keys, refer to http:++ser$ice.sap.com+licensekey.
Archiving files
'ata that has been archi$ed in the source system (data that does not reside in the database but was mo$ed to a different storage location using
"-P -rchi$e :anagement) must be made accessible in the target system. -dapt the file residence information in the target system. )or more
information, see http:++help.sap.com+nw56"-P 7et*ea$er 5.6 &ibrary (including 1nhancement Package 8) 1nglish"-P 7et*ea$er &ibrary"-P
7et*ea$er by 9ey Capability"olution &ife Cycle :anagement'ata -rchi$ing.
-ccess to archi$e files is platform;independent.
Configuration analysis and hardware analysis:-
You need to determine the:
7umber of application ser$ers
1!pected si<e of the database
-dditional disks or other hardware re#uired
/e#uired memory
!"#$
/efer to the section on hardware and software re#uirements in the "-P system installation documentation to determine the system re#uirements.
*******%efore you start the system copy& you must perform the following preparation steps:-*********
Procedure:-
o make a consistent copy of the database, you need to prepare the source system and perform some subse#uent actions on the target system. his
is not necessary when performing a test run.
he following describes important preparations. )or more information about "-P system administration, refer to the "-P 4nline 'ocumentation.
8
8. (efore you start a system copy, check the minimum kernel patch level required by the support package le$el of the source system.
It might be necessary to replace the "-P kernel deli$ered with the kernel '%' of the installation kit and installed during the
installation of the target system with a newer kernel patch le$el before starting the target system. If you ha$e to replace the deli$ered
"-P kernel, you can do this after the installation of the central instance.
=. (efore you start the e!port on your source system, check that your JAVA_HOME environment points to a $alid >'9 $ersion.
,. No canceled or pending update requests should be in the system. Check this by choosing ools-dministration:onitor?pdate
(transaction ":8,).
If canceled or pending updates e!ist, you must update these again or delete them from all clients. You can find out whether canceled or pending
updates e!ist by checking if table %('-- contains any entries.
Find the canceled or open updates as follos!

(rite don the logical s)stem names of all clients!
If you plan to o$erwrite an e!isting system with a system copy (for e!ample, the source and target systems will both e!ist after the
system copy), make sure )ou rite don the logical s)stem names of all clients in the s)stem that will be o$erwritten (transaction
"CCA). -s the logical system names will be o$erwritten, in the e$ent of differences you must change them back to their original
names (as they e!isted in the system that is o$erwritten) in the follow;on actions after the system copy.
If you create a new system with a system copy (that is, create an upgrade test system), make sure that the logical naming strategy for
this new system is consistent with your e!isting logical system naming con$ention. If you are still planning your (I (formerly (*)
system landscape, refer to "-P 7ote 8CAAA5.
If your system copy is used to replace hardware for the '( ser$er, migrate to a different database system or operating system (that is,
source system for the copy is the same as the copy target), no changes to logical system names are re#uired.
*efore the e+port, delete -.M ta$les from )our s)stem as follos!
8
8. (efore deleting you must always check.
= hat the tables are consistent D no restart log or con$ersion procedure termination must be displayed.
hat the data of the original table can be read.
If application programs that use the affected original table do not run correctly, do not delete the EC: table yet.
=. Call transaction "18A.
,. Choose E+tras/nvalid temp0 ta$le
-ll EC: tables that can be deleted are displayed.
A. :ark the tables and delete them.
F/ customers! You can perform an additional consistency check by running the #o$ "A1F234 $efore cop)ing the source s)stem, as
well as after copying the target system, and then compare the results. :ake sure that no customer data is changed in the meantime.
You can do this as follows:

1rerequisites for an e+port!
(efore performing an e!port, make sure that no incremental con$ersion is in progress.
o test if an incremental con$ersion is in progress, run transaction IC7%. If there are any table entries in table IC7%, an incremental con$ersion
is in progress. In this case, you ha$e the following options:
8 'efer the migration until the incremental con$ersion has finished.
= ry to finish the incremental con$ersion by performing the following steps:
If the tables are in state )or con$ersion or in state 'one, delete the entries by choosing Control'elete 1ntry.
If the tables are in any other state, you ha$e to finish the incremental con$ersion. Choose -ssistant and proceed according to the online
documentation.

Heterogeneous ")stem .op) onl)!
(efore you start the e!port of your source system, make sure that the tables -0PC and -0PC- are empty. o do so, use your database
utility and delete the contents of these tables with the following statements:
'1&11 from -0PC
'1&11 from -0PC-
7ormally both tables are empty. If you do not delete the contents of these tables, you will encounter problems while importing the data to your
target system because of non 7?&& capable fields in these tables.
Prepare the system for "-Pinst.
Installing the Java Development Kit:-
You need to prepare the system for the >=11 1ngine by installing the >a$a 'e$elopment 9it (>'9).
he >'9 includes the >a$a /untime 1n$ironment (>/1), which is re#uired for "-Pinst.
NO8E!:
If re#uired, you can perform a remote installation using a standalone "-Pinst 0?I on a separate *indows or ?7IF host. his lets you perform
the installation on a remote host, controlling it with the "-Pinst 0?I from a local host. If you want to perform a remote installation, see
Performing a /emote Installation with "-Pinst Gpage 8,8H. In this case, you need at least a >/1 on the local host to start the "-Pinst 0?I there.
