Conjectures of a Simple Child of God Alexander

These writings are dedicated to brothers and sisters past who were prematurely
delivered up for judgement as a result of the unnecessary power and influence
of the "dark side". And, to brothers and sisters, present and future, who do and
will search out "truth" in pursuit of personal and family peace and spiritual security.

Acknowledgments
Each of us is a composite of spirit, mind and body. We issue from God into physical
life to be "conditioned" for service at the next level. I thank God for this opportunity
and for my brother Emmanuel who will guide me and "deal the cards" in judgement.

Introduction
Past the seeker as he prayed came the crippled, the beggar and the beaten. And seeing them he cried,
Great God, how is it that a loving creator can see such things and yet do nothing about them? God
said, I did do something, I made you. - Sufi teaching
To a very considerable extent, these conjectures arise out of a life, well but simply lived, and now with a
focus on presenting personal realities (perceptions), many of which may be true realities and helpful in
the development of more humane societies.
Writers write for all sorts of reasons. I am writing out of frustration and with the hope that I can excite
to action people who have had enough of mans inhumanity to man. The great need now is for people
to search out truth, to be willing to align with it when found and to be courageous in its promotion.
Modern man (Homo sapien), has now entered a critical stage in his existence. With his liberty and his
self-centeredness he has irresponsibly fashioned a confused and unsustainable world circumstance
wherein he must now find and align with certain realities or die out. Furthermore, the disregarding of
many of these realities by the architects of societies has led to numerous and unnecessary restrictions
on individual freedoms and too much unnecessary human suffering.
With this literary effort, I hope to excite mass interest, first in the U.S. of A., then beyond, in several
propositions that may be helpful in facilitating a course correction. It is now time for thinking and
concerned people to courageously step up and confront the three major obstacles to the development
of a more civilized and humane world order. These obstacles are: Ignorance, Fear and the Dark Side of
man.
9

Our first major hurdle stands steadfast before us and challenges our will to contend. It is a negative that
is very formidable and it has to do with our willingness to resist realities perhaps in the hope that
ignorance will excuse us, and somehow relieve us, of subsequent natural punishment. The mass of
humanity is either uninformed or misinformed, undisciplined and somewhat uncaring. This large group
contains both leaders and followers and both are populated by too many that are dumber than rocks
and immoral.
A rock knows nothing. It can do nothing. In and of itself, it can do no harm. Unlike a rock however, a
human who is ignorant, immoral and active can be very troublesome and even dangerous. Far too many
are convinced that truth (reality), like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Truth is, truth is! And, it
should never be confused with private perception which is almost always, to some extent, a distortion of
truth. Let me be clear; I have some truth. Additionally, I have a willingness to pursue the greater truth,
the courage to proclaim it when found and the persistence to work for its acceptance.
History tells of the struggles of great minds to lay out strategies to minimize human suffering. Our
current uncomfortable global circumstance indicates that these efforts, while somewhat successful,
have left much to be desired with regard to minimizing hurtful behavior and maximizing human comfort
and happiness.
It has been said that moderation is good in all things. However, as we know, moderate good works goes
on all the time yet most real human problems persist decade after decade, century after century.
Obviously, good works will require a higher level of intensity if the human family is to rid itself of
unnecessary self imposed suffering.
Much of this suffering is caused by ignorance and dark side self-centeredness, which includes peoples
unwillingness to contend for societal equity and justice. Before a society can be beneficially
10

restructured, the leadership and the people must commit to the hard work of understanding realities.
Obviously, this work will be very difficult in a society where people are conditioned to believe things
that are not true.
Traditionally, societies have been influenced to form up organizationally in ways that empower special
interests. Power brokers, of one or more types, establish rules of order, many of which compromise
justice. No justice no peace. This description includes democracies. If a nation of people want a just
society, individuals must find truth and find the courage to challenge the power brokers. This is a job for
the people. It will never be done by the leadership because the leadership is an integral part of the
power broker arrangement. Education is key. To be truly educated, however, a people must question
everything and free themselves from enslaving conditioned in responses.
At this point you may be asking; Who is this arrogant ass that insults us? In response, and to set the
autobiographical discourse for the rest of this effort, I will now provide the beginnings of a limited
personal profile.
For me, day one of a physical existence on this earth was December 19, 1938. Just nine months or so
from all hell breaking loose across the globe (WWII), I was born to Fred and Rita Cook-Alexander of
Wyoming County, West Virginia. Due to depressed financial circumstances, I was born in a bed at my
Grandmother Cooks house. While birthing, my mother heard someone say, He has only one hand.
Fred Alexander was a fifty-two year old part-time coal miner. He had children by a previous wife that
were older than his wife Rita, who was twenty-four. She had a son six years prior to my birth. This was
the family unit until the death of Fred in December 1959 (Greenup County, Kentucky).
In 1960 the family relocated to Dayton, Ohio where I, a year later, took a custodial position with Dayton
Public Schools. After fifteen years in operations, and with some college work, I was certified as a
11

vocational instructor and spent the next eighteen years working with Special Needs students
(Secondary). During these years, I continued my lifelong learning coursework (no degree), married,
fathered a son and was involved in volunteer work. One guiding principle in my life: avoid unnecessary
complications keep it simple.
Obviously, I abandoned this guiding principle on a few occasions like when I began to teach, when I
married and when I decided, with considerable encouragement from my wife, to father a child. Nothing
is ever simple when one has a career, a family or a dream.
My career is behind me; my family is no longer a unit. I do however, have my late life dream and it has
to do with the determination of realities and the promoting of social changes necessary to the making of
a much better and more humane world for all of Gods children. Just like many who aspire to change
the world, I will continue with this writing of a book and issue this instruction for the many who are
dumber than rocks and foolish, and for the many more who think that they are not, but are. Seekers,
go forth! Truths exist, but perceptions rule.
12

On the subject of liberty:
And God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: ." ( Genesis 1:26, KJV, Christian
Bible).
Somewhere, way back in time, a decision maker made two momentous decisions. One was a decision
to create the physical worlds (the Universe), and all of the things that we can experience through our
physical senses. The other was to create and empower a life form like no other. This creature would be
a composite being (spirit, mind and physical body), and would be granted an opportunity to develop an
evolutionary AND revolutionary superior free will intellect. He would be allowed to move beyond the
confines of programmed, instinctive behavior. He would be Homo sapien. He was to be put at liberty.
We may, and do, have differences in our perceptions (beliefs), concerning this decision maker but we
can, in fact, reach agreement on the proposition that modern man has been uniquely provisioned with
an extraordinary ability to contemplate and decide.
This then is the origin of the idea of liberty and the implications are monumental. Shown here are the
decision makers willingness to set free this most loved and precious creature and a willingness to
suffer heartbreak when it rejects His counsel. Furthermore, this decision remains to this day
unqualified, and gives credence to the notion that all persons are created equal and deserving of all
proper love and support.
My liberty, and yours, to seek knowledge and to decide what we will believe is absolute and can never
be extinguished by the powers of darkness. We can always choose! It is a birthright!
13

In our world the caution light should always be out for the words liberty and freedom. They are used
synonymously by some people to elicit a desired reaction. Politicians use them to inspire service to
country. Activists use them to encourage the disaffected to work for change. These two words fit nicely
into the vocabularies of predator types. They can be problematic because very few people understand
that they do differ as concerning origin and proper usage. For the purposes of this book, which is to
inform and to excite the reader to responsible and successful action, I offer the following:
Liberty (the setting free of man), was and is, a grant and is unrestricted in the family of man. The
word freedom however, should be considered a subordinate in that its plural is more definitive in
application. Freedoms are always negotiated. At liberty, I can choose to behave in hurtful ways.
Statutes say however, that I may be punished by having my freedoms restricted.
Before we became Homo sapien, we behaved more instinctively making very few, if any real choices.
Modern man can choose. His dilemma though has to do with his resistance to self-discipline. In its
place he establishes various religious, social, political and economic systems to provide the discipline
that he personally resists. These however, are fashioned in compromise and never fully address realities
and therefore the legitimate needs of free people and of a society.
There are four major divisions in the human family that move us to behave in hurtful ways. These are
race, religion, politics and money. The first of these, race, is a natural division and speaks to the
Creators interest in diversity. The second is collaboration between God and man with mans dark side
prompting a high level of distortion. The two others are exclusively man-inspired and heavily influenced
by that same dark side.
14

Liberty then is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, in that it attaches to an intellect that allows man
to contemplate the possible and to do wondrous things. A curse, in that it provides opportunities for
the dark side to beguile and cause discomfort.
The Creators willing that we be set free is evidence of His great love for us. Let us give thanks for
liberty. Let us protect it from all distortion and abuse. Let us honor each other as equals in the family of
God. Let us dry the Fathers tears.
15

On marching orders: Liberty
After having studied the conjecture on liberty you may now need to ponder a few questions and to
settle your mind concerning the matter.
You may ask, how can I exercise the fullness of my liberty when I have been subjected to family and
societal conditioning? How can I determine reality when I have been subjected to pervasive
misinformation and disinformation? How can I enjoy full liberty when I am democratically, but
unjustifiably, overruled by people who, for all sorts of reasons, limit my opportunities to choose? Let
me suggest that you ponder this as a possible answer: one way, perhaps the only way, that we can
maximize our God given liberty is to constantly seek truth, to align with it when found and to be
courageous in its promotion.
Let us look at a couple of propositions that have the substance to empower us as we individually and
collectively endeavor to realize libertys full potential.
1. All are children of God and are therefore equal under His law and deserving of all proper love
and support.
In protest of conditioning and propaganda, we are to respect one another and we are to
protect one another as caring brothers and sisters. There will be little justice, and therefore
little peace, in the human family until each of us takes ownership of this truth. We have the
potential (our Fathers spiritual DNA), in us. Our immediate task is to simply allow the Father to
be at liberty in our mind. We can do this!
16

Among us there will always be bastards (those who do not know the identity of their spiritual
Father). Consequently, they will not know who they are or who their brothers and sisters are.
They will insist upon exercising their liberty in many hurtful ways. Those of us who know truth,
and who appreciate its power, must love our bastard brothers and sisters enough to discipline
them. We also must discipline ourselves, through education and will, so that we will not
become enablers.
2. We should restructure our various societies in ways that will expand opportunities for individual
self realization, for optimum societal equity and justice and for environmental well-being.
The future of man is in our hands and in the hands of todays youth. We must begin to do a far
better job of conditioning our youth for the work ahead. To do this we must educate the
whole child which is the composite of spirit, mind and body. In this there is little room for error.
This Garden of Eden is tiring.
Our children must be exposed to the greater truths and protected from those influences that
seek to exploit and enslave. Religion, politics and the influence of money will have to be reined
in. New, much more wisely designed, societal structures will need to be put in place or man will
be driven from The Garden.
Before desirable restructuring of our society or any society can begin, individual citizens must
become the change they wish to see (Gandhi), and then they must associate - with like
minds, "educate" - self and others, "agitate" - to excite to action and "legislate" - to insure
equity and justice. The formation of a critical mass is essential to the forward movement of
the change effort. This dedicated mass must have a unique faith-based foundation that can
attract people of differing religious and political persuasions. I offer the children of God

Biography
Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world
is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has
regulated it cannot be a bad one. Thomas Jefferson
I thank God that my parents were not members of a religious group. Had they been, in all
probability, I would have been conditioned to think religiously in certain ways and to believe
things that might not be true. My dad was probably an agnostic. He never spoke to me about
religion or on matters of faith or spirituality. When he accompanied my mother and me to
those little country churches he rarely went inside and the draw was usually a social event with
plenty of country cookin. My mother, on the other hand, spoke often of God and no small
amount of it was in vain. Throughout much of her life she would equal the likes of Harry
Truman and Richard Nixon in the use of colorful expletives.
Even though my mother was educationally challenged she had above average intelligence and
encouraged me to stay in school. Sick throughout most of her life, she made every effort to
keep me fed, clothed and otherwise provisioned for my schooling. As far as religion was
concerned, she was something of a Christian, but, like many Appalachian people, she used
church as an opportunity for social involvements. Often services were held in a local one-room
school or in a large tent. The special singing was usually very good, the preacher was usually
charismatic (sexy in the case of younger women), and the performance of those under the
influence of the Holy Spirit was a marvelous thing to watch.
18

I began to take an interest in the idea of God when I was about ten (1949). The family lived just
outside a mining community on the outskirts of Rainelle, West Virginia. Dad had retired and we
were squatters in an abandoned house between the railroad and the Meadow River. Even
though the mine at Snake Island was still in operation, dad wanted to avoid living in the camp
and paying rent. He also preferred to garden for much of our food necessitating the availability
of a piece of land. For protein he kept a fishing pole, sixteen gauge ammunition and chickens.
We were dirt poor but, given the circumstance of many other families around us, I was unaware
and usually happy.
It was during this time that neighborhood women would herd their children into the
aforementioned places of worship and expose them to ideas about both the mercy and the
wrath of God. It was at one of these tent revivals, and under the influence of a very
charismatic preacher that I was convicted of my sins, repented but was never baptized. This
was quite an experience and I began to take God seriously. So seriously, in fact, that I began to
question all contentions and to construct my own theology.
While Christianity was the dominant belief system in the region and the nation, I did investigate
a few other systems and found that there were considerable differences not only between
Christianity and the other major faith groups but also among the various Christian groups. I was
concerned about this and would often pray and meditate hoping to get at the truth.
The idea that God had a son a perfect son and one that had perfect knowledge of his father
appealed to me. So, it was on him that I focused my attention. After all, he was the Son and
had been here to experience life in the flesh. If anyone had answers it would be Him.
19

The search for the truth also led me to the subjects of science and philosophy. Never a serious
student of either (my knowledge is little more than elementary), it is however, sufficient for one
not professionally engaged. This interest, and an interest in that having to do with the human
dilemma, led me to ponder the possibility, indeed the probability, of the existence of a natural
spiritual order.
Yes! After years of study, prayer and contemplation, I believe that there is such an order. Why
do I believe it? Because I can, and it is reasonable. There are few other legitimate reasons for
believing. As mentioned in my comments on liberty, I am able to contemplate and to choose. If
I believe because I have been conditioned to believe, I do not really believe. If I have truly
contemplated God and have discovered proof of His existence, I am a true believer. If in my
deliberations I have failed to include His natural physical order revelations I can have no
authentic belief. (These revelations tell us with greater certainty than those of man which are
always, to some extent, a distortion of the reality that is God.)
I also believe in God because I exist and because I know that I did not make myself or anything
else that issues from His natural orders. I know that physical death is assured and that I have no
desire to become non-existent. So, if I propose to exist beyond the physical, I must come to
believe that there is a power that can implement a transition to the spiritual realm. That entity I
call God.
Does my believing it make it true? Of course not! However, I need not be concerned about the
answer to that question because there is a point in time when I will, in fact, leave the physical.
Since I will have no choice, I choose to exit with every expectation of a smooth transition. If
there is no continuation I will not be aware of it. If there is, I will join others in the celebration of
my arrival at the house of God the Father. Simple!
20

As a practical matter, it is no more difficult for me to believe in an existence beyond the physical
as it is to believe that such a possibility does not exist. Neither circumstance can be proven.
Given that I favor belief over agnosticism or atheism, I choose to exercise my liberty to believe
and to witness.
Author's Creed

I believe that internal peace is the desire of every person.
As a brother, it is my duty, and should be considered my
privilege, to champion those things that maximize opportunities
to fulfill that desire.

Furthermore, I have an obligation to identify and to eradicate
conditions, physical, social, political, economic, or spiritual
which have a depressing influence upon man's good nature.

I shall not be found wanting in the performance of this
profound duty; for to do so would undermine my own
peace and jeopardize man' chances for an exodus from
his current uncomfortable situation.

On natural orders: Spiritual

The Psalmist of Judeo-Christian theology (Psalms 8:2), asks: What is man, that thou (God), art
mindful of him? This theology, the written spiritual doctrine with which I am most familiar,
begins with the story of creation (Genesis I). The biblical text simply states that God created the
natural physical worlds. It gives no information about the origin of this Creator or of His
substance.
Since the something that did the creating existed before the creation, the reasoning creature
might ask: Who is this God that we are mindful of Him? Can we know anything of Him?
As the only liberated life form, modern man alone has the necessary capabilities to formulate
such questions and to seek answers.
In theology the collective opinion seems to favor the existence of a supreme being capable of
willing things into existence and setting in place the laws that govern their behavior.
Additionally, that opinion also suggests that the man creature can have some knowledge of this
supreme being and can establish and maintain a relationship.
Since the physical creation cannot be the true beginning, we (mankind), should sharpen our
focus on this Creator and seek to better understand His substance and nature. With some three
score years dedicated to the seeking of truth in these and other matters, I will now offer several
perceptions (personal truths), that may be helpful in the quest for greater understanding and a
more peaceful and prosperous world order.
22

Let me begin with this truth (caveat): Seekers of truth should understand that all revelation is
subject to the natural physical order law of distortion. Every God inspired revealer has been,
and is, exposed to this influence. It is in part because of this that the family of God is so
confused and dysfunctional. Truth exists, but perceptions rule.
The True Beginning (God), can be identified as the Potential for the creation and can only be
appreciated as a non-material reality. He exists as a conscious, creative, spiritual force that
encompasses all that is and all that is possible. As that force, He lives inside and outside of His
creation and is never exhausted. He is truth (reality). He is life. He is the Supreme
Universal Authority. As such, He is Alpha and Omega (The Revelation 1:8, KJV, Christian
Bible).
The assertion of the ancients that there is one Creator I choose to believe is correct. Again, as a
member of the liberated life form, I have the option of disbelieving in gods or in the God.
Opting for belief in the God, and with what I believe to be an obligation to witness, I offer
these comments.
Science asserts that somewhere back in time an accumulation of something exploded (the big
bang), and the universe began to form up. Neither of these assertions satisfy our questions
concerning the true beginning. In theology, we are asked to simply believe and in science we
are left with a shaky theory. Given mans current uncomfortable spiritual and physical
circumstances, it may be the best of times to offer a greater truth the truth in the probability
of there being an un-contemplated natural spiritual order.
In proposing the existence of this order that predates the formation of of the physical universe,
I hope to fill a void in theological and scientific thinking.
23

This order cannot be viewed through a scientific lens but must be experienced through a
unique spiritual connection to the order. Having no physical form and knowing no limits of
time or place, the orders existence is evidenced only by the creation and by man himself. I
believe it began as a circumstance for possibilities, then evolved into the Source (Potential),
for all things spiritual and physical. The Source then developed self awareness, a dynamic and
creative nature and willed to create. This Source, I believe, may be accurately perceived as
God.
Declaring that the Source is real makes it incumbent upon me to reveal my evidence or proof.
Will this evidence satisfy everyone who might be exposed to it? I think not!
Again, there is this idea called liberty which keeps getting in the way. Brother Abe Lincoln is
credited with having said, Most people are going to believe pretty much what they want to
believe. Our liberty to contemplate and decide ensures an infinite number of personal truths
(perceptions).
Many dedicated thinkers look to science for proof of realities. Science of course, has to do with
the investigation of things associated with the natural physical order and the laws which govern
its behavior. It gives us the opportunity to develop an understanding of material reality and, if
fully appreciated as revelation, some considerable knowledge about the mind of God.
Science has more to do with nuts and bolts than with concepts. However, in philosophy
concepts may take on scientific characteristics. One such concept, and the one I hold as a major
proof of Gods existence, is the idea of potential. Real and honest science will conclude that
the potential for material reality must exist before that reality can exist and that the material
reality is evidence of the pre-existence of the potential for it. God then is the Potential for all
24

that exists. This truth is one that cannot be successfully contradicted. However, many, for
any number of reasons, will try.
In the living physical, potential exists in the seed and in that issuing from the seed and is limited.
In the spiritual, potential includes the God head and man and is limitless. (All things acceptable
to the God head are possible.) In you, Godly potential is limitless and dark side potential is
limited by choice.
As an individual I may have the potential to be, or to do, something. However, until I will to
be something or to do something, it will not happen. When this book is published and is
successfully marketed, I and others will know that the potential for successful authorship existed
before pen went to paper. The work will be the only evidence of the potential for it.
The behavior of man is another proof of the existence of God. The Christian Bible (KJV, Genesis
1:26 and 2:7), identifies a beginning. The man spoken of is to be made in the image and
likeness of the two who are having the conversation. The writer is stating a reality that would
be obvious to many contemplative persons. That reality could be Homo sapien man, the man
having evolved intellectually and spiritually to a point where he could assume God-like
characteristics. As written, we cannot discern the cosmic time that God decided to liberate
man and position him for such a declaration. In all probability, at the moment, or shortly
thereafter, that man was set free from the slavery of programmed, instinctive behavior and put
at liberty to contemplate and decide, he began to ponder the idea of a superior to himself and
to demonstrate, out of fear, a reverence for this Almighty. The pervasiveness of this interest
throughout the history of Homo sapien is no man thing. I believe it results from the presence
of a spiritual DNA that parallels its physical counterpart and connects every individual to the
25

Creator. Atheists may reject the idea of God and agnostics may abstain but neither can escape
the possibility of this spiritual DNA that inextricably links them to their Creator.
Another connected reality is that the existence of the potential for a thing does not guarantee
that the thing itself will ever be actualized. This requires a willing or conscious decision. Let
there be ___, (Genesis I, KJV, Christian Bible), enlivened the process whereby all things of a
material nature would be realized. Since that willing all things material, and man, both
spiritually and physically, have continued to change, expand or contract and evolve. In every
aspect of creation potential exists and is never exhausted.
Every created living object, including man, has certain behaviors encoded (instructive
programmed). Homo sapien man alone however, is assigned to be at liberty and must, if
he/she is to be pleasing to God, contemplate the Ideal (perfect child of God Emmanuel, see
Christian Bible, Isaiah 7:14), seek truth and strive for that spiritual perfection. This search for
truth and the struggle for spiritual perfection results from the influence of the Creators
spiritual DNA that is present in every person.
We now have identified the major Player (God), in this, until now, un-contemplated order. I
contend that there are two remaining players. They are: Emmanuel (the wholly spiritual and
perfect one), and modern man. I choose modern man as the third most significant character
although he and Emmanuel are spiritually inseparable and both are truly children of God.
On this earth, somewhere back in time, a creature like no other emerged. For millennia it
evolved physically and eventually took on the characteristics of modern man (Homo sapien). Its
behavior was programmed until its Creator made a fateful decision. Let us make man in our
image after our likeness, (Christian Bible, KJV, Genesis 1:2:6). At that moment a circumstance
26

was established wherein the man creature would become a composite figure as that of a
Spirit (Soul), and a physical body. He would be put at Liberty to contemplate and decide. He
would be called Adam.
The product of a spiritual Father and a physical mother (the earth), Adam was to be the first
imperfect physical manifestation of Emmanuel could just as easily have been Emma the first
wholly spiritual and perfect child of God. (Think Plato; Theory of Forms.)
God formed man of the dust of the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and
man became a living Soul (Genesis 2:7).
Like his predecessors, this modern man was physically formed of the dust of the ground
(building blocks of life). Unlike his predecessors however, the breath breathed into his nostrils
was that of the living God and he became a physically living Soul. This breath contained and
does to this day and beyond the spiritual DNA of the Creator and inextricably links every man
creature to that Creator and to each other.
The child of God is a citizen of two real worlds (spiritual and physical), and both will demand,
and deserve, allegiance. This child of God (both male and female), is required to seek truth
(reality), and to align with it when found. The search must begin and end with God as He is the
author of all truth as evidenced by His creations.
My #2 position then, in this order, is Emmanuel. Platos theory of forms, or Ideals suggests
the reality of this spiritual personality. His accurate conclusion that the Creator (architect of the
universe), first made the perfect forms (spiritual models), for all things that were to be
impressed upon matter, necessitates the existence of that Perfect One. Emmanuel (God with
us), is that perfect model or form for modern man the Ideal. To be in alignment with the will
27

of the Creator, one must, to the best of his/her capability, endeavor to emulate the spiritual
perfection of our Fathers first born.
Christians identify a third personality in what they describe as the Godhead. Referred to as the
Holy Spirit, this personality becomes a third authority or power constituting a trinity. The idea
as presented is but another example of distortion and/or fabrication present in Christian
writings. A Holy Spirit does exist but it is more appropriately identified in Hebrew writings as
the spirit of God. As a Holy Spirit, and one who is wholly spiritual, Gods work in creating the
physical worlds was and is accomplished by will.
I believe the Christian presentation on the Holy Spirit is a fabrication by certain biblical writers
who concluded that there might be a need to insert a miraculous revealer to add credibility to
certain claims. I base my determination that no such personality exists upon my belief that
Father and Son are sufficiently provisioned to do any of the things ascribed to the Holy Spirit. I
believe that every individual is a Holy Spirit and that we, as such, and with our spiritual
attachment to God, can accomplish our spiritual mission.
Every act of contemplation and expression concerning God is inspired by the presence of Gods
spiritual DNA in us.
As has been stated, you are at liberty to believe or to disbelieve. If you have made a decision
to favor belief, you will, of course, ask the question: What does God want?
Part of what God wants you have already granted. You have made a decision that you want to
believe. This is a spiritual decision that will be challenged by the dark side. This is good! We
should not consider the dark side to be just an enemy. It is a threat, but it too exists to do the
Fathers bidding. Know this, nothing exists without the approval of God. The dark side has its
28

mission which is to help in the disciplining of believers. Our Father wants us, as Souls, to be
challenged so that we can experience spiritual growth. We are to celebrate doubts and
discomforts. We can be sure that our sincere search for truth, and our obedience to it when
found, will be sufficient to secure us spiritually.
The wise will not be conflicted by inspired holy writ. All is, to a considerable extent, a
distortion of spiritual reality. One example is the idea and practice of worship. The Creator has
no interest in being worshipped. Gods were being worshipped long before He was discovered.
Is God offended by our worship? I believe not, and that He is offended only when we couple
worship with disobedience in our daily lives. Obedience is key to a successful relationship and it
shows our respect for a loving God.
Transmissions and translations of the perfection in the mind of the Creator are always distorted
by natural physical order circumstance and by mans dark side. We cannot know God to
perfection. We can however, discover much of His truth and discern most of His preferences.
Do not conclude that I have no regard for holy writ. I am certain that much of it is generally
inspired by God and the God in us. However, mans physical order circumstance, coupled with
his dark side attributes, makes certain inaccurate perceptions, half-truths and fabrications.
Inspired metaphorical material is interlaced but is most often misunderstood by people who are
unwilling to contest with their religious conditioning. In the Christian tradition, with which I
am most familiar, three examples of metaphors are: The Garden of Eden, Armageddon and the
mark of the beast.
All religions, save one (Gods religion), are mostly man made and one is as good as another
when evaluated on the basis of its uplifting impact upon practitioners. These religions, while
29

generally inspired, are little more than belief systems designed and promoted by a person or
groups of persons inaccurately perceiving some kind of special godly connection or revelation.
Their insistence upon my religion is better than your religion reflects an adolescent mindset
that is spiritually offensive. Gods religion can be reduced to a simple statement: Love me with
all your heart and mind, love yourself (Spirit the real you), and love your neighbor (fellow
human), as you love yourself. Everything else will fall into place.
The directive found in all major religions and most humanistic philosophies Do unto others as
you would have others do unto you works well in every human involvement. With race and
religion, it elevates every person to that level of being made in the image and likeness of the
Creator. In politics and with money, it restrains abuse and relieves the harsh realities of
powerlessness.
If we are to be pleasing to God, we are to honor the above directive and we are to adopt a
personal philosophy of: I am third. God is first, others are second. Should we choose in ever
increasing numbers to disregard the directive, we and our societies will experience many
undesirable natural consequences in the now and in the future.
For a much better future we need only to dedicate ourselves to the search for truth and to
personal and collective realignments that truth suggests. This search is a necessary part of the
above assignment. To say that we put God first, then restrain our search for truth allowing a
continuance of elevated levels of hurtful behavior and suffering is a perjury. This kind of
presentation by an individual or a society will ensure a continuance of unnecessary suffering
and, for the individual, the probability of spiritual rejection.
30

As one at liberty, I will to search and align. I want to believe, at the approach of my personal
physical end time, that I have sufficiently completed the assignment and that I can be counted
among the blessed.
On marching orders: Shaping the future with Truth
We have enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another.
Jonathan Swift
(Irish author 1667-1745)
There is one reliable source for truth and for marching orders. That source is the mind of God and it is
accessible 24/7. You see, it is everywhere in everything that we have the opportunity to contemplate.
The truth seeker the one who challenges his or her own perceptions will find great pleasure and
value in contemplating the mind of God where all truth resides. Here is the abode of scientific,
philosophical and artistic truths essential to the in our image evolutionary development of man both
individually and collectively.
It is probable that God does not miraculously reveal himself to us but that we must reveal God to us. I
believe that it is in our search for truth (reality), that we have the opportunity to establish a working
relationship with God. This search for truth is the business of all mankind. It is the initial redemptive
behavior.
Getting inside the mind of God is the obedient believers responsibility. The Creator did not provision us
with a superior contemplative and decision making intellect so that we could allow others to
contemplate and decide for us. Each, as a child of God, will be held accountable.
The subject of revelation has been a part of religious philosophy from as far back as anyone can know.
Ancient holy men introduced us to the concept and the resulting confusion continues to this day.
31

Now, I have no problem with people exercising their liberty to think and believe what they will. I
understand that everyone has private motivations which cause them to behave in certain ways. Also, I
cannot offer proof that many of the things that have been said or written are untrue. I can however,
comment upon the importance of witnessing to truth. When we credit God with something that we say
we know, without knowing it, we perjure ourselves before Him. Perjury is lying and we should know
what God thinks of a liar. Any attempt to please God by falsely crediting Him with things that we cannot
know is an affront and necessitates repentance.
My perception that written revelation is both generally inspired and a distortion of realities makes it
necessary for me to search for truth. As stated earlier, I believe that this is godly ordained and is
necessary for my spiritual growth. Finding the truth however, will not, in and of itself, make me
spiritually secure. Alignment (obedience), is a critical element. But it too, in the absence of a willingness
to witness, will not be sufficient. However, and because of my opportunity to get it wrong in both my
understanding and my witnessing, I should exhibit humility and a loving and caring disposition if I am to
become spiritually secure and to serve others.
Given the historical variations on the God-man relationship and the reality of mans liberty to
contemplate and decide, it should surprise no one that confusion reigns supreme. What is surprising is
that no one has yet presented an acceptable truth sufficient to provide an exit from this confused
circumstance.
What then can we truthfully and safely say about revelation? We may safely believe in our spiritual
connectedness to God. We can believe and communicate that all blessings issue from this
connectedness and that we can be inspired through this link. God in us, knows us, knows where we
are and does communicate. All we need to do is recognize God and seek to do His will.
32

There is also a subordinate revelation that is of critical importance to our understanding of realities.
That revelation is the collective experience and presentation of modern man.
As Homo sapien, we demonstrate a dual existence. We evidence not only a physical nature but a
spiritual one as well. Both are real and deserving of honor. Under the powerful influence of our godly
ordained dark side however, we tend to structure our affairs to favor physical nature comforts at the
expense of our spiritual needs. From our earliest days we have struggled with our dark side and
suffered greatly from the conflict that exists between spirit and flesh (the personal and collective
lifelong battle of Armageddon) (Rev. 16:16, KJV, Christian Bible). Much of this continuing conflict results
from our failure to recognize and honor the appropriate demands of both natures.
Perhaps our greatest weakness is our inability to decide who we really are. The dark side would have
us believe that we are only a physical body and that we should focus on satisfying its needs and desires.
The reality is that each is a permanent spirit being having a lengthy, temporal physical experience. It is
our failure to believe and honor this truth that prevents mankind from solving most of his problems.
The egocentric is concerned primarily with the physical self and its comforts. It cares little about the
comforts of the spiritual self or of society. As long as our societal construct nurtures egocentricity the
dark side will continue to exert undue influence in human affairs.
What then might be other marching orders to be implemented for the relief of some of our most
troubling spiritual discomforts? The sincere person would be wise to consider the following:
- Seek truth for the purpose of identifying realities and for satisfying appropriate spiritual and
physical desires.
- Condition will to challenge and control urges that influence us to behave in hurtful ways.
- Seek comfort and understanding from those of like mind (associate).
33

- Love all serve all as family.
It is my belief that religion has been a mighty contributor to our spiritual dysfunction. For centuries man
has tolerated unnecessary restraints on the exercise of his free will (liberty), allowing revelation to
condemn and restrict many natural behaviors. These behaviors, when causing no hurt, should be
considered as well within the perimeters of spiritually acceptable behaviors.
One such behavior is the display of natural aggression. To be sure, in the family of man hurtful
aggression should not be tolerated. However, there are many human endeavors where aggressive
tendencies can be very helpful to the individual and to society. The marching order here calls for the
development of strategies to inspire a culture of compassionate cooperation to replace rampant
competition and the elimination of societal restrictions that unnecessarily encroach upon appropriate
freedoms. A competitive culture creates conditions wherein the dark side becomes the dominant
influence. In a cooperative culture, self is played down for the good of the order.
The majority of people believe that participation in ceremonial and other gathering activities (religious
services, group demonstrations, etc.), will increase understanding, acceptance and peace. These have
been going on for centuries. We understand intellectually more than we ever have but there is
something missing. There is something far deeper that must be understood. I believe it has to do with
recognizing, in feelings, that spiritual connectedness to God and all creation and especially that
connectedness to all members of Gods human family. This connectedness is not an intellectual thing. It
is seated in the emotion. That spiritual DNA of God in each of us should be recognized and nurtured.
We must challenge conditioning and accept and celebrate the presence of this DNA so that we can
position ourselves to be in alignment with the will of the Creator.
What then is the will of God? It is that we be compassionate, that we be caring and nurturing persons.
We know this because we feel it. We feel it because we have that special connection to God. We can
34

will to overcome selfish and self-centered feelings. The Spirit of God in us is there as a saving
element and presents us with an opportunity to become healers and people who are in harmony with
Creator and creation.
Many in the Christian faith contend that to be a child of God one must be born again. This, I believe,
is far from the reality and that God considers every human being to be His child and deserving of all
proper love and support. His reality is that we are all adolescent in our understanding and behavior and
that we, as individuals, must be disciplined into a state of spiritual maturity. Thats why we, as spirit
beings, are assigned to an earthly physical body.
An adult state of spiritual maturity is evidenced, to a considerable degree, by ones capacity and
willingness to demonstrate what is called agape love. This love is wide open and boundless. It is, in
our human family, not unlike the love of God our Father and commanded in all transmissions of His will.
This command extends beyond our children and neighbors and includes the entire world community.
Agape love includes the idea of respecting the right of others to believe what they will. Your spiritual
legitimacy is an issue solely between you, the first begotten and our Father. I am to have no opinion as
to your worthiness.
Until agape love, in the family of man, can be felt with the same intensity as that love which a loving
parent feels for a child, there will always be an elevated level of sibling hurtful behavior.
Those who think that they are, and will be, spiritually safe when their worldly presentation is short on
agape love, will experience a rude awakening and will come to feel the sorrow of being disinherited.
As has been observed earlier I believe that man is a composite of Spirit, mind and matter (body). Spirit,
as the direct offspring of God, is the permanent reality and is, upon arrival here, perfect. (Natural
Spiritual Order Law ensures that imperfection cannot issue from perfection.) Mind is matter that
35

transcends matter. It functions as referee in the contest between spirit and body. Body then, is the
temporary residence of an assigned Spirit (Soul). As a physical entity, it has needs and desires that must
and should be adequately and properly addressed. As matter, body disturbs the perfection of the Spirit
and the contest begins. Mind, with godly conditioning, and acting as referee, makes possible spiritual
victory. Godly conditioning by family and society strengthens the spirit in its efforts to remain loyal and
obedient to its Creator. In the absence of this conditioning a Spirit will be more likely to succumb to
the influence of the dark side thus setting the stage for its damnation and much societal misery.
Everyone loses!
Perhaps this would be a good time to offer several other examples of what constitutes a spiritual
offense. Surely the Creator would be offended if a child failed to acknowledge His existence and
authority. Likewise, and as pointed out earlier, He would take offense at ones failure to seek truth and
to abide in it. Ignoring His Golden Rule, evidenced by all major religions, is both an affront to Him and to
every living Soul. The unwise and gluttonous use of the bounty of His good earth troubles Him greatly
and imperils all physical life.
We offend God (sin), when we, through hurtful behavior, offend any part of His creation. We are to love
(treasure), protect and nurture all life and life sustaining components of His natural orders. We are to
be merciful. We are to honor His decisions about diversity by celebrating differences. We are to resist
social, political and economic arrangements that divide and allow for injustice.
It is OK to have conditioned in racial feelings. It is not OK to allow these feelings to be expressed in
ways that offend and hurt.
It is OK to hold beliefs about God that differ from others. It is not OK to condemn others who are
exercising their right to do as you are doing. It is OK to have a political disposition. It is not OK to
conspire to demonize and dominate those who hold a different disposition. It is OK to strive for a more
36

satisfying and comfortable lifestyle. It is not OK to use money and power to create economic conditions
that cause hardship in the ranks of those who have little or no power.
Many faith traditions teach that the flesh is strong and the Spirit is weak. This truth is strongly
evidenced by our willingness to engage in physical excess. It is this excess, individually and collectively,
that offends God and sets the circumstance for much human suffering. Mans discomfort will greatly
increase as the earths natural resources are depleted and His environment is degraded. The demand
for creature comforts may soon be so great that only a few privileged will be able to acquire their needs.
Many of these privileged will see this development coming and will formulate strategies to reserve
sufficient resources for themselves and their immediate progeny. The struggle to satisfy needs in an
environment of scarcity will result in greater conflict between individuals, organizations and
governments. Those who think that God will return in the flesh to establish a new world order need
to rethink everything. His new order will be fashioned by children who have rejected dark side
influences and associated in ways that truly promote the general welfare of the family.
Make no mistake about it, this Garden of Eden spoken of in Christian scripture, is a metaphor referring
to this earth and to mans disobedience which will lead to his eventual expulsion.
Before this occurs however, mans discomfort will become so great that he will collectively call upon
God for relief. This sincere call will elicit a loving response and God will spiritually return and rule until
His physical universe laws play out. At that moment, all obedient, physically living souls will be taken
away and the earth will cease to exist.
What then should I conclude?
37

I should conclude that God, through His natural spiritual order DNA, lives in me, that He communicates
with me through this order and His natural physical order and that through study, contemplation and
obedience, I can establish and maintain a relationship with Him sufficient to my spiritual security.
No other child has ever been, or will ever be, assigned to secure me spiritually. Emmanuel (Christ), did
not come here to die for my sins. He came here to experience life in the flesh so that He would be
qualified to judge me as a Soul. Before God, I stand alone, assured, and in awe!
As concerning our circumstance beyond the physical; faith is a decision to trust God. I cannot know
some things but I am at liberty to believe what I want to believe. I know that physical death is certain. I
know that I do not want to become non-existent. I therefore use my liberty to decide that there is a
reality beyond the physical and that I will experience that reality. If I am mistaken in this perception, I
will know nothing of it. If I perceive correctly, I hope to be counted among the blessed.

Biography
For me, 1944 was the year the lights came on in more ways than one. The family had moved to a more
modern mining community and for the first time we had electric service. It was here that I began to
have experiences that were enlightening, memorable and, in too many instances, traumatic.
My family had become somewhat dysfunctional and each of the four members suffered in several ways.
Dad was beginning to feel his age (58), the effects of black lung disease, and no doubt, some depression.
He began to associate with boozers and actually became somewhat of a booze dealer homemade and
legal. The rabble visiting our home greatly troubled my mother. At one point, and during a heated
argument, there occurred a physical outbreak. No one was seriously injured but everyone was
traumatized.
During the same period, I became aware of tensions between my dad and his step-son Eddie. Outbursts
of anger verbal and physical - became more frequent and Eddie became more of a family, as well as a
community, problem. At one point an enforcement officer came to our door and took Eddie away.
Behind the door, I cried out in fear.
One cold and snowy Saturday evening my dad came home from an afternoon in the local bars. He
stretched out on the bed and I curled up beside him. It felt good. (Dad was usually more gentle when
under the influence.) This peaceful scene however, was short lived. All of a sudden, and reacting to a
bad mix of drinks, he became a raging, crazed hulk of a man. Completely out of mind and out of control,
he trashed part of the house and sustained some physical injury. I remember my mother trying to stay
39

out of his way and, at the same time, gather her sons for an escape to a neighbors house. We found
refuge and monitored to see how things would play out. The wait was hours long but dad finally
regained control of himself and went in search of his family.
This dangerous and embarrassing episode convinced my mother to initiate a separation. Within a day or
two she decided to take my brother and me and to live for a while among her people in Wyoming
County. She had to know however, that these arrangements would have to be of short duration.
Extended hospitality was not a hallmark of the Cook family. At thirty years of age, and with two young
children, she seemed to be facing a bleak future.
I have no knowledge of any correspondence between my mom and dad during this time. There must
have been however, because in less than a month there was a reconciliation and dad went in search of a
new place to work and live.
Life Along the Meadow River (1945-46)
My family settled just outside Rainelle in south western West Virginia near a mining community called
Snake Island and in a ramshackle four room house barely fit for human occupancy. It had an acre or two
of tillable land which we used for the growing of vegetables. Sick with black lung and three years away
from retirement, Dad had no choice but to hire in at the local mine again, and like too many miners, he
began his weekends warming the seats in local bars. Often, and to the embarrassment of faithful wives,
these miners would be caught buying drinks for loose women referred to as weed monkeys. Some of
the men would be picked up by local officers of the court, charged with public drunkenness, held
overnight awaiting the payment of a small fine and released to a mad as hell spouse. At home,
Sundays were usually quiet as people needed to heal from their accumulated, and for the most part,
self-inflicted wounds. It was here and in the fall of 46 that I entered first grade and began my study of
books, people and nature.
40

Even though there was much suffering in my own home, and in the homes of neighbors, in the early
years, I count it as a plus having been born in Appalachia. How can that be?, you think. You further
reflect, that territory has been a depressed area for many decades. That perception is valid only
where economics is concerned. Before going off to first grade, I had been taught much by nature itself.
Few areas on earth offer more learning opportunities, especially those having to do with natural and
necessary things. Many children of the area, and of the generation just prior to the baby boomers,
learned important information about the natural world and about people and their concerns. Upon
entering first grade, I soon became, to the great pleasure of my mother, a stellar student.
Our home, a short climb up from the road leading to the mining camp and tipple, was near the summit
of a hill most of which was covered by trees and other types of high growth vegetation common to the
area. No other house was within view. Again, we were without electric power and indoor plumbing.
Long before sunrise my dad would arise, fire up the kitchen stove and put the coffee on to boil. He, the
first shift mine safety and first aid provider, needed to be at the mine before other miners arrived. The
light from the kerosene lamp and the smell of strong coffee brought my feet to the floor. After a cooked
breakfast of meat, fried eggs, milk gravy and, of course, hot biscuits, Dad would grab his then filled lunch
pail and begin his mile-plus walk to the mine. At sunrise, I would be off to a one room country school
where I began to appreciate certain realities and to contemplate appropriate responses.
To me, all this was new and exciting. But to Mom, and especially to a sick and aging Dad, this life must
have been very troubling.
At school, during the colder weather, I felt the warmth of the heat emanating from a pot-bellied stove
that had been fired by my fourteen year old brother before daybreak. Resistant to studies, he rarely
stayed for classes. Eight grades, and one great teacher, all assembled in a one-room building to do the
mind work scheduled for the day.
41

More than just a school, this building served as a center where people gathered for special community
activities, to vote and to worship a Pentecostal God. It was here that I began to investigate the natural
worlds and to begin the task of identifying realities. It would not be long until I had concluded that God
had presented us with more than the one revelation that few could agree upon, but another whose
truths were provable all around the world.

On natural orders: Physical
Conjecture
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1, KJV, Christian Bible)
To me, the truest godly revelation, yet one of the greatest of mysteries, is the physical universe.
It attracts our attention by its beauty, majesty and compelling enormity. Its size we cannot
comprehend and of its origin we can only speculate. At liberty to believe what I will, I
attribute its existence to a Source (Creator). I believe that the creation is alive and, to some
extent, self-aware and that Creator and creation together function as the source of all life both
spiritual and physical.
As concerning knowledge, we humans have that which issues from scientific study,
contemplation and consensus. Most of this knowledge is rooted in matter and in natural
physical order law. Most everything else is speculation and little, if anything, is known to
perfection.
In this universe we have at least one earth. Its existence suggests the possibility, indeed the
probability, of there being others. She represents the feminine (Mother), in the marriage that
42

brings forth life. She and her partner (the Creator), accommodate the demands of natural
parental guardianship. (In facilitating additions to the family, prospective, caring parents make
adequate provision for the well being of offspring.) We children of God, as spirit beings, arriving
here on earth to be partnered with a specific physical body, find a habitat thoroughly furnished
with all things necessary to our sustenance, appropriate pleasure and species security. Our
earth home is the imperfect physical replication of the Creators perfect spiritual habitat. It is
here that we will individually, if we allow it to happen, begin and finish the work of being made
in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26, KJV, Christian Bible), who represents the
masculine (Father), in the marriage that brings forth life.
Man, as the only creature that is at liberty, can choose to nurture or to abuse the creation.
The presentation of nineteenth and twentieth century man was much weighted toward abuse.
A continuance of this disrespectful attitude in the twenty-first century can, and probably will,
culminate in much more widespread human suffering, and possibly, human extinction.
The natural physical world we call earth is now communicating to us in indisputable terms that a
dramatic change in human behavior is necessary. Either we agree to align with the will of the
Creator by choosing to nurture His creation or His natural physical order laws will ensure our
being expelled from this, the authentic Garden of Eden.
The natural physical order provides ample evidence that the Creator loves diversity. When we
are spiritually assigned here, we almost immediately begin to notice the diversity in our
surroundings. Every grouping of physical objects is replete with differing sizes, shapes, colors,
etc. The human family is no exception. It is as diverse as other order groupings. Regardless of
personal preferences, if we are to live harmoniously, we must come to appreciate the
43

uniqueness of all children of God and to know that they are worthy of all proper love and
support.
Unfortunately, from a very early age many are surrounded by circumstances which cause them
to think certain things and to feel certain things which influence them to behave in hurtful ways;
The mind of God is revealed in many ways; but, all too often, we turn a blind eye to the
revelations of His natural orders and are willing to exhibit behaviors programmed in by family,
friends and others. If we are to be pleasing to God we must will to develop intervention
strategies that move us toward alignment. This can happen only when we seek to understand
and love enough to do our very best. At liberty, we can decide to be uncomfortable with the
color of others or with any other aspect of their uniqueness. Or, we can will to make
ourselves comfortable with others regardless of differences. When we choose to engage in
hurtful behavior both offended AND offender lose.
Man is, by physical nature, somewhat aggressive and a predator. These natural traits are both a
blessing and a curse. Certainly they impact survival and the need to acquire. Restrained, they
serve man well. Unrestrained, they can cause much human suffering and even physical death.
Excessive aggression plays some role in all hurtful behavior and is an underlying negative in
mans attempts to organize comfortable societies. As a rule, powerful designers favor
competition over cooperation producing varying degrees of dysfunction. When humans allow
strong feelings of aggression to inhibit reason, the less aggressive and reasonable suffer.
Man cannot, and should not, ignore his physical nature. It too is authored by his Creator. Many
desires, fears, etc. are natural and when addressed are not spiritually offensive. Only in excess,
or when misappropriated, do they become so.
44

Obviously, man is a very complex organism. The fact that he is a composite being (Spirit/flesh),
makes him unique in the creation and sets the circumstance for his troubled existence. Not only
does he have to contend with legitimate physical world demands, he must also contend with
ideas that are not his from discovery (conditioning). Internal, personal conflict results when
these two influences seem to be at odds. It is my belief that an understanding of realities can
greatly reduce personal and group conflict and lead to a more civilized human family
presentation.
We know that we can be excited both spiritually and physically. We also know that our
excitement can be triggered by both internal and external forces. When we encounter
excitement we experience feelings that can cause us to be conflicted. It is here that we need to
identify realities. It is here that we have an opportunity to reason and to engage in the self-
conditioning that leads to personal internal peace and family peace.
The opportunity to reason can provide the circumstance wherein we move to a higher level of
awareness and escape the slavery of programmed responses that offend truth and excite
conflict.
Having lived seventy-plus years that span some of what might be described as one of the most
dynamic periods in human history (agrarian through industrial through technological), and
perhaps one of the most turbulent periods as well, I feel the urge to offer an opinion on several
physical world realities that are, in my view, some of the most unappreciated and yet most
critical to personal and societal peace.
The most destructive physical world reality is man himself. This is so because he alone can orbit
around reality creating false realities that cause disorientation, dysfunction and much
45

unnecessary suffering. His ability to use language and imagery to gain an advantage when
coupled with his dark side allow him to fashion these false realities that disorient and render
impotent even the most diligent .Man is a scourge upon the earth; albeit a necessary one.
As far as man is concerned, it might be said that there are two kinds of realities; true realities
and perceptions (personal realities). Because of the nature of man, the latter help to generate
racial, religious, political and economic problems. These will be discussed in greater detail
further on in the sections called Man Made Orders and Marching Orders.
In this commentary, I will offer what I believe to be true realities and know that many others will
classify some of them as perceptions.
As was said earlier, this physical world and the laws that govern its behavior offer the most
reliable source of information concerning the will of its Creator. We would do well to seek its
counsel in both scientific and spiritual matters.
As a species temporarily linked to this physical order we should seek to understand the many
implications of this linkage. We should observe the behaviors of other living species and
evaluate their appropriateness for expression in the human family. Natural impulses that attach
to matters of comfort, survival and procreation need to be examined for the purpose of
improving societal function.
It is evident that the desire to survive is the strongest of all desires among living things. When
threatened, every living thing will demonstrate that desire in some way. Man alone has the
opportunity to contemplate physical death, and because he understands its inevitability, many
have found within, and beyond themselves, the opportunity to avoid its finality by the calling up
of a higher power.
46

In the lower life forms, survival, in many cases, demands killing. The predator is totally
unconcerned about the comfort or the survival of its prey. This circumstance is authored by the
Creator and is an integral part of His natural balance strategy. The Creator did not however,
ordain Homo sapien to kill. By casting man in His image He made possible a choice to revere life
and to reject a survival of the fittest mentality.
For modern man the inappropriate killing of any life form is spiritually offensive. The killing of
another human being is even more offensive and excites natural and spiritual retribution.
It is a slap to the face of God when a person or state ends the physical life of what is, in reality, a
child of God (a living soul), and one that may be spiritually unsecured.
Second to survival in intensity is the urge to procreate. Originally ordained to ensure the
species survival, its expression among lower life forms and pre-modern man was limited to
restricted, programmed sexual behaviors. Modern man however, has been allowed to
experience the added dimensions of holistic pleasure, joy and fulfillment. The dark side
however, and ever present, prompts many actions that are offensive to both Creator and the
victims of sexual exploitation and predation.
Many religions teach that God is offended when Homo sapien has sexual episodes outside the
bonds of marriage. This contention however, cannot be sustained, given the godly ordained
general presentation of His natural physical order. Modern man, as a liberated life form, has
not been freed from his natural connection to the order but has been blessed with a spiritual
insight to protect against abuse. We offend spiritually when we exploit, coerce and otherwise
behave as an unreasoning predator.
47

The Creators natural physical order, in its dominant presentation, calls for the pairing of male
and female to produce offspring. This arrangement indicates that the Creator also wills that
offspring be reared by heterosexual couples.
The pleasurable aspect of having sex was wisely incorporated so that people would have a
powerful incentive to ignore the many downsides of offspring production. Having fun in this
activity is not spiritually offensive if each responsible partner respects the comforts of the
other and the rights of persons spiritually connected to the other. Holy Matrimony connects
spiritually! Marriage (a partnership), does not guarantee a spiritual connection but should be,
to an outsider, a caution indicator. For Homo sapien, the desire to be exclusive is natural.
Therefore, to avoid the possibility of offending a brother or sister and God, one should refrain
from enticing anothers mate to engage sexually.
Long before Homo sapien, the Creator fashioned the natural physical order to accommodate the
many needs of His most beloved creature. Not only is this earth provisioned to take care of
mans basic needs, it has revealed a treasure trove of possibilities for the comfort of man going
forward. It would be folly to believe that what man has discovered here was put here for the
benefit of creatures having no capability to develop an awareness of their existence or an
appreciation of their use and value. The evolutionary development of the natural physical order
in preparation for Homo-sapien was no accident. It was a necessary component part of the
Creators plan for the salvation of His children. The earth needs man and man needs the earth.
Finally, physical creation laws allow for deviation from the perfection in the mind of the Creator.
This reality exists so that man will have the troubling physical existence necessary to his spiritual
perfection.
48

On marching orders: The natural physical order
When the disciplined contemplate the natural physical order, he/she cannot escape the fact
that modern man alone is somewhat out of alignment with much of the presentation of the rest
of the order.
Lower life forms are programmed by the order to behave in certain ways that cannot be
consciously challenged. Modern man however, as a reasoning entity, can behave in ways that
are somewhat un-programmed and contrary to the well being of the order.
This unique circumstance is ordained by the Creator as a strategy to provide for mans
spiritual growth and salvation. Obviously, we have not been very successful in our collective
efforts to grow spiritually and we have put the good earths human life sustaining assets at
considerable risk. Environmental polluting and many other human actions do set the stage for
species extinction including man himself.
The prevention of a calamitous future for mankind will require much personal and collective
self-discipline. The dark side of mans nature will have to be confronted and positioned so as
to minimize its influence. If the dark side is allowed to maintain its current level of influence
there is no way that man will survive, here on this earth, very far into the twenty-second
century. His gluttonous appetite for creature comforts will, if left unchecked, cause him to
deplete the planets life sustaining assets.
This future circumstance can be postponed only if the individual and the collective become far
more appreciative of the limitations of earth and begins to reign in appetite. In the absence of
49

knowledgeable, capable and courageous leadership however, we cannot ensure that the
collective will do this. The old adage that everyones responsibility becomes no ones
responsibility is applicable here. The point should be made however, that the individual is key.
I must be the change I wish to see. (Gandhi)
The quality of human life going forward, will depend upon the individuals willingness to practice
self-discipline and to engage in efforts to discipline leadership and the broader community.
What must we do to minimize the influence of mans dark side? As individuals we can choose
to resist appetite. There are all kinds of good reasons to do so mental health reasons, physical
health reasons, financial health reasons to name the big three. Addressing these alone would
greatly reduce societal dysfunction, improve life greatly for the powerless and relieve pressure
on vital natural physical order resources. Collectively, we can restructure our social, political and
economic systems putting in place those that better serve propositions of conservation,
regeneration and innovation.
We can choose to restructure in ways that promote the general welfare of all of Gods children.
We can regulate to curb abusive behavior while insuring equity and justice. Again, as
individuals, we can demand that leadership stay on task in serving the needs of all the people.
The best place to begin this effort is: I must be the change I wish to see. When you engage
and know that you are a part of the solution, you can become far more demanding of
appropriate behavior from others. This earth is your home. Step up!
Mans inhumanity to man and his abuse of Gods good earth stems from his adolescent mindset.
He must soon transition into an adult relationship with his Creator or die out. The hour is late
and his appetite for creature comforts is growing exponentially. This Garden of Eden is aware
50

and is communicating its discomfort. Far too many children of God are too preoccupied with
self gratification and leadership is failing to connect the dots. Too many assume that the genius
of man, going forward, will save us from natural consequences. This vote will ensure the
suffering of our progeny.
As concerning the U.S. of A., we as citizens must reject standard operating procedures (SOP),
and fashion new social, political and economic paradigms. The old strategies will not work for
the common good in a global circumstance. Our changing population demographic will
necessitate the development of a more humane social order, a more citizen-oriented political
presentation and an economic order that is based on science instead of politics. Anything less
and we will see an accelerated decline in our quality of life and a hellish living circumstance for
our progeny.
Finally, and on a personal note, as I attempt to be the change I wish to see, I need to free
myself of inhibitions that contribute to unnecessary physical and mental discomforts associated
with family and societal conditioning. Many natural urges are spiritually inoffensive but
have been identified as such to sustain unjustifiable controls.

On man-made orders: Social
Biography
Having spent the Spring and Summer of 1951 in a basement apartment at my baby sisters West
Virginia house, my dad facilitated a family move back to the Kentucky county (Greenup), of his
childhood and earlier adult years. His great desire was to live out the rest of his life as a small
farmer and work with the land.
He entered this hard work with a sixty-five year old damaged body and the enthusiasm of a
twenty year old. I was about to turn thirteen and was no less excited about the prospects of
living on a real farm and maybe having my own riding horse. My mother at thirty-seven and in
poor health doubted her ability to do the work but still relished the idea of having fresh cows
milk, fresh meat and eggs and a place to cultivate a large garden. We were a small motley crew
of dirt poor people but hopeful for some greater degree of happiness going forward.
With the spring of 52 we began to minimally make our dilapidated mountain cabin livable. We
judiciously allotted our time between this effort and preparing the rest of the farm for
production. Dad had purchased an old Dodge truck from his son Ralph who lived a couple of
miles away. It wasnt much but it would transport us weekly to the town of Greenup some six
miles away. I was busy with school work but was expected to help both in the house and out in
the fields.
Dads first priority was to prepare a small patch of ground to produce tobacco plants for
transplanting to the fields. Our farm was allowed to grow seven-tenths of an acre of tobacco. It
52

would be our main cash crop. He had arranged with the farm owner to pay a monthly cash rent
($15.00), instead of halving the proceeds from the sale of the tobacco. This was a very good
deal for us. The landlord a caring business woman was a beautiful Soul.
Our next task was to ready the facilities to accommodate our desired livestock. A team of
workhorses, a cow, a pig or two and a hundred baby chicks would soon be our charges and the
excitement mounted.
The cow came first followed quickly by the horses and chicks. Pigs could wait a bit as tilling for
the crops was of paramount importance. Over thirty years had gone by since my dad had
worked a team of horses. But, as I watched him it was almost as if it had been only a few days.
Yes, he had some difficulty keeping up but his spirits remained high and he managed to turn and
harrow several acres of good ground.
My mother, whose parents were sturdy mountaineers, was, in spite of several physical ailments,
up to the task of being somewhat of a pioneer. She liked working in the fields and out of doors
and would often suggest that she and I reverse roles putting me in action as a homemaker for
the day. I learned much from this semi-illiterate mountain woman and I practice her family
ethics even to this day.
This is how it started and remained throughout the rest of my elementary school years. As I
entered high school the family moved to another cabin and farm. The work remained the same
until I was graduated in 1958 followed by my dads death in December 1959.
During these adolescent years, the pace of change dramatically quickened. The 50s moved me
from country music to rock and roll, from homemade biscuits and milk gravy to sandwiches at
McDonalds, from prop planes to Sputnik. In facilities-free cabins on farms, I drank water from
53

open springs and wells, visited the outhouse and took weekly baths in a galvanized wash tub.
We churned our butter, made apple butter, and our food store except for staples (flour
coffee etc.), -- was our garden, smokehouse and it's cellar. We were so poor that we could do
little more than pay our respects.
These first twenty years of my life which included the early, and some of the greatest days of
television, provided opportunities for the learning of many of lifes essentials. Seventy years
have now passed and age dulls a few regrets. Most of these have to do with the unwillingness
of youth to properly identify and weigh, in a timely fashion, essentials that become known when
it is too late.

Conjecture
Power always thinks that it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the
weak; and that it is doing Gods service when it is violating all His laws. John Adams

The formation of a society (social order), occurs when people see the need for structure (or
restructure), and decide to draft a plan outlining how the order is to work.
Liberty empowers individuals and, in a change environment, many of the resulting choices will
be incorporated into the rules of the new order. As choices are made coalitions form and
determine what that social order will look like. The most capable and successful coalitions will
be those having the greatest opportunity to frame the debate in ways favorable to their desired
outcomes. That opportunity will exist in the form of substantial and dedicated human and
financial resources. These coalitions become the power brokers in the new order and set
about to establish the social contract (law).
Over time, people seem to have evidenced a preference for systems that provide opportunities
for individual choice. Democracy accommodates this preference better than any other form of
societal organization. It does however, allow for the ascension of these power brokers who
can and do ignore many of the needs of the lesser forces and people suffer. Mans dark side
promotes greed and is able to convince many power brokers that they deserve more and better
than the rest of society and social justice is seriously compromised. Such arrangements stay in
55

place until the lesser forces associate, grow in strength and demand justice. (An expectation
that the controlling power brokers will provide for justice is folly. Justice is never given, it must
be demanded.) Capable and courageous leadership must surface if a just society is to emerge.
Many societal institutions, established by the most powerful of power brokers operate with a
bias helping to ensure a continuance of injustice. Moves to promote course corrections have
always met with, and will continue to meet with, considerable resistance. Because of this, and
the complacency and/or cowardice of the lesser forces, desirable change is often delayed or
postponed indefinitely.
The social contract established by the founders of this democratic republic (U.S. of A.), has now
been so severely compromised that a major course correction is an absolute necessity if we are
to again be a free people. Further comments on this course correction will be provided in the
section on Marching Orders/Social.

On man-made orders: Political
Biography
I became interested in politics at the early age of ten. Mr. Truman was in a race for president
and his G.O.P. opponent, Mr. Dewey, looked like a sure winner. My dad, a member of John L.
Lewis United Mine Workers of America, a staunch Democrat and only a few years past an
economic depression that devastated families and ruined millions of lives, was more than a little
concerned about the prospect of having another Republican in the White House. He worked to
turn out the Democrat vote and kept the family up, and by the radio, all night to hear the
western count. To his delight, Mr. Truman was returned to office. From that point, and to this
day, I have been a supporter of liberal, pro-labor politics. This is not to say however, that I vote
the ticket. Many times I have voted for a Republican because I considered them to be the more
desirable candidate. When contemplating how I might vote on election day, I always reflect on
the moral image of an old patriot who was a Republican. As a child I idolized Abe Lincoln and to
this day my perception of him as an honorable public servant inspires me to always do the right
thing.

As has been observed, all man-made orders are designed and put in place by power brokers.
The establishment of a political system is no exception and includes that which is referred to as
a democracy.
In a time of change these power brokers have a window of opportunity to influence how a
particular order is fashioned and, subsequently, to put in place structures situated to benefit
themselves and their progeny going forward. When these orders, especially those of a political
or economic nature, are well established it is very difficult for citizens to affect positive change.
Such is the case in the U.S. of A. today.
This nation came into existence during the age of enlightenment and most of the power brokers
were men of that mindset. They espoused the idea of citizen rule (self governance), and
liberty was the hot button word of the times. As dedicated as they were however to
progressive ideas, they made only a small effort to inspire a culture really dedicated to the
propositions of equity and justice. They established a capitalistic democracy that encouraged
predatory behavior and the system is still in place today and, is to some extent, out of the
control of citizens.
Real democracy is about societal equity and justice. Unregulated capitalism certainly is not. In
the U.S. of A. today, and now on a global scale, real democracy is in retreat as unrestrained
capitalism, promoted as a force for freedom, brings more and more ignorant and powerless
people under its heavy hand.
To some extent our democratic nation was fashioned to accommodate the collective will of the
people. In recent years however, monied powers, through political actions, and paid for by
apathetic consumers, have caused a serious erosion of this reality and the peoples freedoms
58

have been greatly compromised. Corporate expansion across national borders may further
weaken governmental oversight and real democracy may become extinct. The political move
toward societal equity and justice will be dealt with in the section on Marching Orders/Political.

On man-made orders: Economic
Biography
Let me suggest that the reader revisit the autobiographical matter located at the end of the
Introduction. It identifies my parents Fred and Rita Cook-Alexander and alludes to their
economic circumstance at the time of my birth. A bit of the history of Fred and Rita and our life
together may be helpful in understanding who I am and what I believe.
The great economic depression of the 1930s was surely one of the most traumatic events in
modern human history. Great minds have pondered its causes and effects. Likewise, great
minds have fashioned economic strategies to minimize the chances of a reoccurrence. Fred and
Rita were among the powerless and without a clue concerning the causes but were exposed
considerably to its effects.
Fred, born in December of 1886 and into an upper middle class family, had lived comfortably
during his childhood and adolescent years. His parents were people of property and business.
As a young adult, Fred held jobs as a mail carrier and a railroader. In his early 20s, he fell in love
with and married Phoebe Keen. They parented seven children. This first of two wives had
suffered for several years with a mental disorder which grew worse with time and stress. In the
mid- to late 1920s the family struggled to maintain its composure but soon had to deal with
Phoebes hospitalization and subsequent death. The oldest daughter and a hired nanny took
charge of the other children while Fred worked. Soon however, unemployment and the loss of
resources put him on the road looking for work. A problem developed between the nanny and
the daughter, who had recently married, and soon the family dysfunction came to the attention
60

of the area social welfare agency. Fred had no possibility of dealing successfully with this
situation and some of his children were placed in foster care. The two younger girls went to live
with their older sister and an older boy (15 or so), went out on his own. An eleven year old boy
went to live with a foster family in southern Kentucky and the baby boy little more than an
infant was taken by an elderly neighbor woman who provide for him through most of his
childhood and adolescent years.
By 1934 Fred had settled a bit in Wyoming County, West Virginia and was mining part-time. He
met Rita Cook, a twenty-one year old woman with a three year old son and a father who was
nearing the end of his life of seventy years. In spite of an age difference of twenty-seven years
they were married in June of 1935.
Fred continued to work part-time until the start of the war. By this time I had arrived. He and
Rita struggled to feed, clothe and shelter themselves, me and little Eddie but were without a
residence when I was born. When the war began, work picked up and the family began to do
somewhat better. Fred was a union activist but his work ethic was such that he could get full
time mining jobs with the best of the operating companies. We moved a lot as he tried to
improve our situation. In the last half of the 30s two of Freds children came to West Virginia
and lived briefly with him. Fred worked full-time throughout the 40s retiring in December
1948.
In late 1951 the family relocated to Greenup County, Kentucky where we farmed and I went to
school and become the only child to complete twelve grades.
61

These early life experiences, of course, played a role in all aspects of my development and have
influenced a mindset that is in sympathy with those who are somewhat powerless and more
than somewhat abused by a system which nurtures predation.

Conjecture
The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to the
point where it becomes stronger that the democratic state itself. That, in its essence is fascism
ownership of government by an individual, by a group or any controlling private power.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Economics is a science, albeit an inexact one, but it is usually ignored as such to accommodate
its use as part of a political ideology. To be most useful in providing for economic justice, it must
be accurately perceived as a science and elevated to its rightful place in our efforts to truly
educate.
Every employed economic system is a distortion of the science. The design of the system is cast
by powerbrokers. Most of these, under the influence of humanitys dark side, will work to
fashion the system in ways that accommodate their desired outcomes. Regardless of the name
communism, socialism, fascism or capitalism this truth remains constant. Once the system is
in place its designers and others of like mind, going forward, will work ethically, or even
unethically, to maintain it. Most will endeavor to distort realities in ways that disorient the
powerless (prey), enabling them to gain and maintain an unfair advantage. The aforementioned
power brokers exploit the masses, first by refusing to truly educate, and then by conditioning
minds to think that they have the best of all worlds.
63

In every system there will be those who will be perceived, by self and others, as winners. Truth
is, there can be no pure winners, as the system eventually enslaves everyone in different ways.
Those who are perceived as winners are dominant and most, almost all, can be justifiably
referred to as predators.
Among the predators there is a powerful perimeter player. It is media and its business is
corralling prey. Media is 100% marketing. It throws in only a bit of entertainment to increase
predator magnetism. However, its whole mindset is on the corralling of prey for its clients. It
dangles the prepared carrot and the rush for gratification now begins. In the most extreme
cases (Black Fridays), persons have been seriously injured even killed in the stampede to
acquire.
A representative, capitalistic democracy such as the United States of America provides fertile
soil for the predatory predisposed to flourish and evidence shows that this group is now much
too large to allow for a healthy economic balance. Nevertheless, to avoid the constraints and
harsh treatment imposed by slave masters (employers), one hell of a lot of people continue to
go into business for themselves. In less than five years half are out of business and struggling
to keep their heads above water. The other half who stay in business have managed to hone
their predatory skills to a sharpness that they can successfully prey upon all who are ignorant
and the majority who think that they are not but are. Over time many of these successful
predators associate and become giant business concerns (corporations industries), that unduly
influence leaders whose job it is to take care of the peoples business. Historically, these have
had considerable influence at institutions of higher learning resulting in prey spending huge
amounts of hard earned money (tuition), to have their children educated in the art of
predation. Its a hell of a deal for the predators!
64

At the beginning of this treatise on economics, Mr. Roosevelt speaks of people tolerating the
growth of private power. The reality in our capitalistic system is much worse. The collective
goes way beyond tolerance to a frenzied support of predatory practices. On the Serengeti Plain,
when the predator shows up the prey run away. This is not the case however, with human prey
in an unrestrained capitalistic system. They, with little or no restraint, rush toward the predator
waving cash or credit card. Have at us, they say. Gorge yourself. Dumber than rocks!
As stated earlier, every economic system is put in place and maintained by political leaders. This
is done in collaboration with other power brokers. In a capitalistic system, the most dominant
voice (power broker), is the voice of money. Unchallenged, it will arrange every life and call it
freedom.
The predator in the wild acts out of a natural urge. His predatory behavior is set in stone. To
survive, he preys on the lesser able. He is innocent. His counterpart in the human species
however, is motivated by far more than his desire to survive. These motivations lead to
exploitative and abusive behaviors that undermine the fundamental rights of prey. This "
civilized predator will associate and, in the absence of appropriate and effective restraints,
collectively act in ways that lead to inequities in how the money supply is divided and to the
development of economic imbalances (boom and bust), the downside of which causes much
suffering in the ranks of the powerless.
A major problem in the U.S. of A. today is a circumstance wherein far too many people make far
too many dollars doing things that do not need to be done and far too many people make too
few dollars doing things that need to be done. This situation exists because of greed and politics
and can never be justified in a contention that it is simply an unfortunate product of capitalistic
65

business activities. There is no economic justification, given the wealth of this nation, for the
existence of unsatisfied need.
The word prey includes, to some extent, all consumers. However, successful predators have the
distinct advantage of being able to pass both personal and business costs along to other
consumers.
To be sure, prey can choose to limit their participation. But, as ignorant and undisciplined as
they are, few choose to protect themselves from system predators. Most are asleep at the
economic wheel and kept there by the drone of predator voices saying: Spend! Charge!
Invest! Dumber than rocks!
As mentioned earlier, most citizens in a capitalistic democracy may think, as per
conditioning, that they have the best of all worlds. They may have some rudimentary
knowledge of socialism, communism or fascism. However, most have made little effort to
search out realities giving way instead to conditioned in perceptions that accommodate a
patriotic mindset. Truth is, a capitalistic democracy is a very socialistic order. A communist
economic order minus the dictators (person or party), would fit nicely into a real democracy. A
fascist arrangement should have no place in a civilized society.
To end this segment of my conjecture on economics, let me assure the reader that I have no
quarrel with a well designed capitalistic economic operating system. Well designed are the
key words. It is my belief that a capitalistic democracy offers the best arrangement for the total
comfort of a nation of people. My quarrel has to do with preys unwillingness to discipline
power. Prey has the numbers and the resources to establish and maintain the rules of
operation.
66

If you are a fisherman you will know that most bottom feeders have a yellow (mud), streak up
their backs. This is not unlike human prey in a nation governed by predators.
It should be now evident that only one economic system will prevail around the globe. That
system will be capitalism. Political systems (governments), may, for a time, restrain its growth.
However, a very powerful global predatory ruling class (big money), will emerge and will
attempt to dominate and/or redesign social and political structures to accommodate its desired
outcomes.
To prevent the establishment of this global fascist arrangement, workers around the world
will need to associate and courageously stand, as brothers and sisters at liberty, in opposition
to this emerging predatory power.
Some ideas on why and how this needs to be done are in the following marching orders.
67

On marching orders: Social
The social contract established by the founders of our republic and necessarily amended some
twenty-seven times has served us reasonably well. It has provided a framework for a diverse
people to function as a community while allowing for many desirable individual freedoms. The
peoples failure however, to fully implement its promise insures the continuance of a
circumstance wherein equity and justice remains subordinate to power. This failure has led to a
serious erosion of citizen rights inferred in the words life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
Given this undesirable circumstance, what then should we do, indeed, must we do, to facilitate
a course correction leading to the development of a much higher level of equity and justice?
The most important decision citizens need to make is one where they commit to and promote
what might be described as godly morality. Simply defined, this morality is a character standard
dictating consideration of others. Our nation is suffering from two types of bankruptcy one
financial, the other moral. The focus on self and the acquisition of unnecessary creature
comforts causes us to ignore things that should be valued at a much higher level. As long as
citizens allow the focus to remain on self, the powerless will continue to suffer an elevated level
of discomfort. Needs, of course, must be acquired, but these should be better defined. Want
gratification should give way to an I am third, God is first others second, moral standard.
When this becomes the norm, our parents will again be respected, our children will realize
greater happiness and success and more of our misfits will be empowered to become
productive and successful citizens. Citizens must will to restructure the social order in ways
68

that accommodate need satisfaction while reducing appetite for unnecessary creature comforts.
This willing includes the disciplining of leadership through constant vigilance and action.
In our democracy citizens have abdicated their oversight responsibilities and the void has been
filled by powerful monied groups. These set the table from which all must eat. The weakest of
the all are given crumbs.
Citizens now need to find their voices and demand real change. To do this they must associate
and form a critical mass.
A course correction will not occur unless citizens begin to evidence an increased appreciation for
truth, equity and justice and a higher level of Godly morality. To evidence their desire for
change, citizens will need to speak truth to power and to restrict the food supply (money), to
the power brokers and their agents, most of which are far too predatory to concern themselves
with the general welfare of the nation's people.
To evidence that increased appreciation for truth, the seeker must be willing to move beyond
one and two dimensional thinking and to do the hard work of three dimensional thinking which
has to do with considering every aspect of both the problem and possible solutions.
It has been the destiny of every great society to conduct its affairs in such a way as to insure its
demise. The failure of the people to discipline themselves and their leadership eventually
manifests itself in the form of broken institutional systems that weaken the common bond and
bring about traumatic collapse. In these United States of America we are now positioned for
such an occurrence. As free people, and as patriots, we must now construct a new social
paradigm designed to curb our gluttonous appetite for power and creature comforts.
69

The working membership of the aforementioned critical mass must be comprised of men and
women who are at once intelligent, knowledgeable, creative, courageous and above all people
of impeccable integrity. Their focus must be that of truth seekers uncompromisingly promoting
social equity and justice. This group would become the core leadership in a much larger group
who would provide the votes and the money necessary to affect needed change.
Given the level of citizen self-centeredness, cynicism and apathy, could the formation of such an
organization be possible? We will soon know. It is now time to assess again the character of
our nations people. It is time to choose! Do we continue on this course of moral retreat and
ensure a bleak future for ourselves and our progeny? Or, do we step out and step up in ways
that will ensure wonderful tomorrows? Your turn! Associate with your brothers and sisters
who are the knowledgeable, courageous and action-oriented children of God.
70

On marching orders: Political
Because in life, there comes a time when one must fight, and one must climb. When we must
rise and take a stand, or leave our butt-prints in the sand. Anonymous

In a democracy the citizen is sovereign. When that sovereignty is challenged, citizens must
associate and answer that challenge. In the U.S. of A. today there is considerable evidence that
the citizenry has become so apathetic and dysfunctional, in a political sense, that they may not
be able to associate in ways that will make possible a successful confrontation with those who
seek to dominate and exploit. If this association cannot be accomplished while political borders
exist it will not be done after huge multi-national corporations are well established and
positioned to own the peoples representatives. Then where will democracy be?
Throughout the life of this republic wise leaders have warned of the dangers posed by powerful
monied groups. To no avail, from Washington to Carter, many tried to rally citizen resistance to
predatory institutional practices. From Reagan to the present, effective governmental oversight
has been under attack with no let up in sight. The citizenry has been asleep at the wheel. Sleep
on you fools and be awakened in the wee hours by the groans of your children and grand
children as they, the majority, beg for necessities at the locked and monitored gates of the rich
and powerful.
You dont think so? You dont think!
71

What then can be said or done to awaken those that are asleep? We must begin to raise more
than just a little bit of hell and we must begin to truly educate. We must research realities and
find and promote better realities. For too long we have ignored opportunities to structure for
equity and justice. We have substituted the handout the band aid. If but twenty-five
percent of citizen charitable giveaways was spent on research and the development of
strategies to satisfy citizen needs there would be no poverty and the nations people would not
be drowning in private and public debt.
I say, you ignorant and lazy children of God need to address your diet. Good life gluttony has
put too much fat in the seat of your jeans and the ingesting of misinformation and
disinformation has led to the accumulation of way too much fat between your ears. You need
to increase the amount of truth in your diet. You need to wake up, firm up your grip on the
wheel of the ship of state and chart a course that will bring the kind of tomorrows your born and
unborn children deserve.
Politically there is only one way to do this. Employ term limits and communicate your
dedication to the enforcing of representative service to the citizen community. Some who are
dumber than rocks will ask: How do we get the peoples representatives to legislate term
limits? They are, as elected reps, in charge and show little or no interest in that idea. It is a
hopeless situation.
Enter the better informed who will offer some truth. Term limits exist under current standard
operating procedures. The peoples representatives must be reelected every two, four or six
years. Voters must begin to see that incumbency and its privilege is a threat to democracy and
that the absence of stringent oversight will lead to its collapse. Voters must will to know the
realities of representative service both voting record and the implications of those votes. They
72

must be willing to vote out those who pander to power brokers at the expense of the common
good.
One major hindrance to effective democratic governance, and one that is more prevalent today
than in the past, is partisan polarization. Hardened positions make accommodation very
difficult and little, if any, quality legislation is enacted. This situation leads to citizen apathy, not
just about the vote but also about ensuring good government, and creates a vacuum that allows
power brokers to exercise even greater control.
Everyone benefits when there is reasonable accommodation. Progress is made when people
cooperate and the interests of all are considered.
Mr. Lincoln pointed out that this government should be of the people, by the people and for
the people. However, as long as the people tolerate predatory structuring of national affairs,
there will be no such reality. Will we, the people, reassert our right to democratic justice? The
price of apathy towards public affairs is to be ruled by evil men. Plato
Associate, find your voice and attend to your citizen responsibilities. The future of this republic
is, IN YOUR HANDS!
73

On marching orders: Economic
I hope that we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare
already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our
country. Thomas Jefferson

It did not happen! And, with a recent 2010 Supreme Court decision (five/four is more of a
debate than a decision), big money now has an even greater opportunity to assume ownership
of our governments.
Given that our federal government is not willing to live up to its responsibilities concerning
economic equity and justice, concerned and knowledgeable citizens should launch an all out
effort to discipline that government by truly educating and empowering the citizen mass.
Our focus must be on the establishment of economic truths (the science), and on the
development of strategies to excite demand for economic justice. We must debunk the many
myths that disorient prey and make possible predatory excess. This is a job for prey as
predators will see no near term gain in having a truly educated, well informed and disciplined
citizenry.
To begin our economic education campaign we need to have a discussion about obesity. Now,
Im still not talking about the fat in the seat of our jeans rather, Im speaking about the fat
between our ears. This fat results from the consumption of predator spin-formation and a lack
of intellectual exercise and can only be addressed by increasing the amount of whole grain truth
74

in our intellectual diet. A decision to do this would be a great first step in preparing to become a
patriot soldier in a campaign to develop and implement a just economic order.
As mentioned earlier, economics is a science and science has to do with establishing realities
(truths). To get at the truth in the science of economics a person must be willing to put their
political mind in neutral and begin to question everything that they think they believe about
economic theory and practice.
This will not be easy because from our earliest childhood days ignorant parents, business
predators and the entertainment industry, acting as programmers, have conditioned us to
satisfy a gluttonous desire to have it all. Even our educational institutions have failed to educate
according to the science.
Without fear of successful contradiction, we can now state that an alliance of American political
leadership, business predators and the media have conspired over the years to economically
enslave the citizen mass. This alliance has fashioned a circumstance sufficient to suck up every
dollar that finds its way into a paycheck. Even dollars set aside as savings/investments return far
more to the money magnets (banks brokerage firms etc.), than to their investors. This
alliance is also sucking the life blood out of our democracy. Unrestrained, it will kill the goose
that lays the golden egg.
Contentment with poverty is fortunes best gift. (A Gentle Wind, Fu Hsun)
If you, citizen, cannot consider this to be an option, you may want to get involved in the
necessary business of finding real solutions to our economic problems. To engage, you will need
to know only a few economic truths.
75

Truth #1. There is no such thing as free enterprise. Consumption pays all of the bills.
It is true that everyone consumes. However, predators have the distinct advantage of being
able to pass along to prey much, if not all, of their consumption. As prey in the predator system,
we receive a direct benefit of less than twenty-five cents out of every dollar we spend. The rest
is our investment in the maintenance and growth of that system and in the economic
wellbeing of every person associated (directly or indirectly), with the entity with which we are
doing business. Preys investment is almost entirely controlled by predators and they will
resist every effort to provide for economic justice.
Three of the predators resistance strategies are easy to recognize. First, they promote business
with spin-formation which is, at best, a distortion of realities at worst, materially harmful to
prey. Second, many amass great wealth then, in a much publicized gesture of benevolence, do
what they call giving back to the community. Does that accumulated wealth not come from
the broader community in the form of excess costs? Third, and as if their subsidized affluence is
not enough, they relentlessly pursue the purchase of the peoples representatives.
Truth #2. Justice is never given, it must be demanded. Our focus must be on the development
of strategies to excite demand for justice and on applying unrelenting pressure sufficient to
make it happen. The anger generated by an honest evaluation of Truth #1 should be sufficient
to carry us through to victory.
So, with only these two realities, we can begin to educate and inspire to action a public that has,
for far too long, allowed itself to be abused by predator types as they laugh all the way to the
bank.

The final big reality that must be recognized if economic justice is to be established and
maintained is that power trumps everything else. It takes power to win even when you are
right. Real power is acquired through association.
This association must be a unique one and cannot be fashioned along the lines of race, religion,
politics or money. It must be all inclusive and focused on the common good rejecting reliance
on band aids and charity. It must work to restructure the social and economic orders in ways
that will move resources in the direction of need satisfaction and away from want
gratification. It must convince an ignorant public that there is no economic justification for the
existence of unsatisfied need. The necessary power to get the job done will come when we
decide we want it and are willing to associate.
The ball is in your court. As one at liberty you can choose you will, in fact, choose. The
choice is between the dysfunctional status quo that imperils everyones future and a just
economic order that highlights our common humanity and brightens our prospects for a
prosperous and peaceful world.
