Purpose of Document
With this Document it should be ensured that the Alarm cabling is done correct.
General
To ensure that the Cabling is done correct it is necessary to test the functionality of the
alarms between the Flexi BTS and the Site Support System (SSS).
This is done by opening the Alarm contact on the SSS and checking via the Site
Manager (3G) or with CMC (2G) if the corresponding Alarm is appearing.
Process
If the Alarms had been connected to the 2G BTS before the Swap, please ask CMC to
check which alarms had been configured. They can do it by sending the following
command in an MML Session to the corresponding BSC:
ZEFO:[BCF ID]:IOP;
On the following Pages you will find detailed Information about every possible solution
on site.
After the Alarm test has been done, the site should be left without any active Alarms. If
there are still Alarms please check with CMC if they had been active before the swap. If
not please investigate the root cause by bridging the active alarm on the SSS (or the
Krone Panel for the Enclosure alarms). If it is not possible to solve the problem, please
ask the CMC to open a Trouble Ticket.

First you have to remove the Cover to check the
Alarms

The Enclosure alarms
should be connected
to this Panel (Panel 4)

Use a wire strip or
something similar to cut the
connection between the two
contacts on the Krone
Panel and check via Site
Manager (3G) or CMC (2G)if
the corresponding Alarm
appears.
In this case the connection
on Port 1A is interrupted so
the Alarm Fire Alarm
should appear.

On the Picture below you can see that the right alarm appeared on the Site Manager
In case the alarms are connected to the 2G BTS please check with CMC if the alarm appears

After disconnecting PIN 1 of the Krone Panel 4 the Alarm Fire Alarm appears

EMpower

On Sites were we are using the EMpower Site Support System the Tests are done as described
here:
For the Alarms connected to the EMPOWER Rack we test the Alarms by disconnecting the
corresponding Connector from the J13 Connector Block on top of the Rack

Extratalk / Extratalk mini
In case of basic cabinet only, use Phoenix Connector (SUBCON 37/M-SH) to connect the external
Alarms to Flexi Multiradio BTS.
In case of extension Cabinet use Phoenix Connector (SUBCON 37/M-SH) on basic Cabinet.
Connect the existing intercabinet Alarm Cable (Site Support 2 Alarms) and Flexi Multiradio
Alarmcable (FSAA) to the Phoenix Connector on basic Cabinet according to the table below.
If we use the Phoenix Connector we can test the Alarms by disconnecting the wires from the
Connector.
Krone Panel is not needed anymore because all external Alarms are connected directly to SSS.

Phoenix Connector procedures:
In case there is a Phoenix Connector you can test the alarms by disconnecting the wires.
For Example: If you disconnect the wire on Pin 6 the alarm Low temperature alarm should
appear.
Phoenix Connector Basic Cabinet:

Prepare a open Phoenix Connector on which all
Alarms are looped. If you connect this open Phoenix
Connector with the Phoenix Connector SUBCON 37/M-
SH, all Alarms should disappear again. Now you can
test each alarm by removing the wire on your open
Phoenix Connector. Check the functionality with the
BTS Site Manager (3G) or the CMC (2G).
How to loop the Alarms on your Connector:
Please use the alarmtable to make your Loop Connector. You should loop the alarms like this:
Pin 18 Pin 26 Pin 3 Pin 27 Pin 2 Pin 28 Pin 4 Pin 29
Pin 19 Pin 26 Pin 15 Pin 27 Pin 6 Pin 28 Pin 10 Pin 29
Pin 20 Pin 26 Pin 21 Pin 27 Pin 7 Pin 28 Pin 11 Pin 30
Pin 12 Pin 30
For Example: If you open the loop between Pin 6 and Pin 28 the Alarm Low Temperature Alarm
should appear.

to disconnect the Cable and loop every alarm (one by one).
For Example: If you loop the Pin 1 and 9 the alarm Mains power failure
should disappear.

Phoenix Connector:

In case you have a Phoenix Connector on Site you can test the
alarms by disconnecting the wires from the Connector.
For Example: If you disconnect the Pin 1 the alarm Mains power
failure should appear.
