THESE FIBERS OR DUSTS CAN CAUSE IRRITA- TION AND CAN AGGRAVATE PREEXISTING RESPIRATORY DISEASE. REFRACTO- RY CERAMIC INSULATIONS MAY CONTAIN OR MAY FORM CRYSTALLINE SILICA (CRYSTOBALITE) WHICH MAY CAUSE LUNG DAMAGE (SILICOSIS). THE INTERNATIONAL AGENCY FOR RESEARCH ON CANCER (IARC) HAS CLASSI- FIED REFRACTORY CERAMIC FIBER AND FIBERGLASS AS (2B) POSSIBLY CARCINO- GENIC. IARC HAS CLASSIFIED CRYSTALLINE SILICAAS (2A) PROBABLY CARCINOGENIC. The insulating materials are located in the door, the hearth collar, in the chamber of the product or the top plate assembly. Tests performed by the manufacturer indicate that there is no significant risk of exposure to dust or respirable fibers resulting from operation of this equipment under normal conditions. However, there may be a risk of exposure to respirable dusts or fibers when repairing or maintaining the insulating materials, or when otherwise disturbing the materials in a manner which causes release of dust or fibers therefrom. Through the use of proper handling procedures you can work safely with these insulating materials and minimize any exposure. Accordingly, before you repair or replace any insulat- ing materials, or perform any other servicing on this product which could disturb or cause exposure to dust from insulating materials, you should consult the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for such products with respect to proper handling and appro- priate protective equipment. For additional MSDSs, or additional information concerning the handling of refractory ceramic products, please contact the Customer Service Department of Barnstead|Thermolyne Corporation at 1-800-446-6060 or 1-800-553-0039. 5 SAFETY INFORMATION Environmental Conditions Operating: 17C to 27C; 20% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing. A vessel with a flat bottom is recommended on the stirring hot plate for ideal heat transfer. Avoid metal containers or vessels with a rim around the bottom as these could cause dam- age to the stirring hot plate. General Usage Do not use this product for anything other than its intended usage. 7 Introduction Note This unit contains materials which may emit a slight odor or smoke during initial operation. This will dissipate within a few minutes and will not effect the operation or performance of the hot plate. These Cimarec stirring hot plates are not rated for use in corrosive environments. Use in a corrosive environment will damage their components and degrade their performance. Some shifting of motor bearings may have occurred during shipping and handling. Prior to first use, the stirrer should be run at maximum speed for 10 minutes to realign the motor bearings. Both the temperature and speed controls are combination ON/OFF switches and setting selectors. To Select a Temperature Turn the control clockwise to the desired setting. The lighted heat indicator shows when the unit is turned on. The control maintains a set tem- perature of the stirring hot plate by turning the power on and off over short time intervals. The greater the percentage of time the power is on, the higher the temperature. At the high position, power is on continuously and maximum temper- ature is obtained. From the OFF position, the knob may be turned to either the right or the left. For fast heat up, turn the knob to the high position. When the desired temperature is reached, reduce the setting to the point where the temperature will be maintained. To Select a Speed Turn the speed control clockwise until the desired mixing action is achieved. The lighted stir indicator shows when the unit is stirring. Stirring capability from 100 to 1000 rpm. Unit comes complete with a stir bar that is coated with Teflon Fluorocarbon Resin.* 8 Operation Warning Gross weight of items placed on top of Hot Plates should not exceed 25 lbs. (11.4 kg.) on the 7 x 7 and 12 x 12 models, and 10 lbs. (4.5 kg.) on the 4 x 4 model. Refer servicing to qualified per- sonnel. Disconnect from power supply before servicing. Do not use in the presence of flame or combustible materials - fire or explosion may result . This device contains compo- nents which may ignite such materials. Do not use metal foil on hot plate. Do not use sand bath, metal containers or other insula- tion material on the stirring hot plate - Top plate can be dam- aged and shock hazard can exist. Caution When turning the control OFF, be sure the knob is in the OFF position and the indicator light is out. Hot Surface Caution: Avoid contact. *Teflon Fluorocarbon Resin is a trademark of E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company. General Cleaning Instructions Wipe exterior surfaces with lightly dampened cloth containing mild soap solution. 9 Maintenance Model Number(s): SP46900, SP47200, SP46600 Product Name: Cimarec Stirring Hot Plates 4 x 4 7 x 7 12 x 12 Series 622 Series 775 Series 817 Key # Part # Part # Part # Description 1 PT464X1 PT467X1 PT470X1 Top plate only 2 EL691X1 EL694X1 EL472X1A Element, 120V 2 EL691X2 EL694X2 EL472X2A Element, 240V 2 ~ ~ EL472X3A Element, 208V 2 EL1066X1 EL1069X1 EL472X4A Element, 100V 3 CNX60 CNX60 CNX60 Control, 100/120V 3 CNX61 CNX61 CNX61 Control, 208/240V 4 MT1066X2A MTX104 MT1072X1 Motor, 100V 4 MT1066X2A MTX98 MT1072X1 Motor, 120V 4 MT1066X3A MTX103 MT1072X2 Motor, 208/240V 5 RS1066X3A RS1069X3A RS1072X3A Rheostat, 100V 5 RS1066X1A RS1069X1A RS1072X1A Rheostat, 120V 5 RS1066X2A RS1069X2A RS1072X2A Rheostat, 208/240V 6 KB1066X1A KB1072X2A KB1072X2A Knob, stir control 7 KB1072X1A KB1072X1A KB1072X1A Knob, heat control 8 CR586X1 CR586X1 CR612X4A Cord set, 240 volt 8 CR584X1 CR177X1 CR612X5A Cord set, 120 volt 8 CR584X1 CR177X1 CR177X1 Cord set, 100 volt 8 ~ ~ CR612X7A Cord set, 208 volt 8 ~ ~ CR612X8A Cord Set 120 volt (15 amp cord) 9 PLX108 PLX108 PLX108 Pilot light, stir 100/120V 9 PLX109 PLX109 PLX109 Pilot light, stir 208/240V 10 PLX108 PLX108 PLX108 Pilot light, heat, 100/120V 10 PLX109 PLX109 PLX109 Pilot light, heat, 208/240V 11 5120-0025 FZX61 FZX28 Fuse, CE 230V 10 Replacement Parts Exploded View 11 6 1 0 8 7 9 8 9 1 0 7 3 O F F 1 02 6 4 5 O F F 4 1 0 3 2 5 11 3 See Top Plate Exploded View 7 10 9 6 5 4 Note See Replacement Parts list for replacement fuse on 230V CE model. 12 EXPLODED VIEW Exploded View: Top Plate 13 Ordering Procedures Please refer to the Specification Plate for the complete model number, serial number, and series number when requesting service, replacement parts or in any correspondence con- cerning this unit.
