Unipack BA
The Unipack is a two stage single cylinder set with optional duration of 30,
35 and 45 minutes. The set consists of either a 6 litre cylinder charged to
200 bar (2900 psi), a 7 litre cylinder charged to 200 bar (2900 psi) or a 6
litre cylinder charged to 300 bar (4350 psi). The Unipack is available in
models with or without supplementary air outlet

The Unipack BA offers a comfortable carrying plate, a reliable pressure

The mask for use with the Unipack compressed air apparatus is equipped

Breathing Air Apparatus
The face mask and breathing valve are the central parts of the breathing apparatus. It
is their function and performance that determines under which conditions and with
what degree of safety the equipment can be used. Primary design parameters are
safety, comfort and physiological requirements. The user must be able to breathe
freely and feel no limitations, regardless of how hard he works.
The Mask
The mask body is made of easy to clean long lasting black rubber. The head harness
has five straps. The wide sealing edge of the mask is pressed slightly against the face
by positive pressure and follows the contours of the face giving an effective seal. A
speech diaphragm is standard on the Unipack face mask. The visor is made of poly
carbonate but is also available in a laminated glass version. The Triplex visor has a
high degree of chemical resistance.
The Breathing Valve
The positive pressure breathing valve LA 96-AS on the Unipack has a plastic housing
with an integrated diaphragm servo control. The LA96-AS automatically switches to
positive pressure with the first breath.
The connection to the face mask is by means of a plug connector. This assures safe
and quick handling during use. The freely pivoting plug connector automatically
adapts itself to the head movement of the user.

Unitors Short Duration Compressed Air Escape Sets, or
EEBD's, provide respiratory protection in toxic and oxygen
deficient atmospheres. They are an essential part of the
equipment required to enable the crew to escape from a
contaminated environment.The Unitor EEBD's have a duration
of 15 minutes. This is above the required duration as stipulated
by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
The Uniscape 15H is a self contained breathing compressed air apparatus
for escape complying with the European Standard 1146. It consists of a
compressed air cylinder manufactured in accordance with International
regulations with air capacity of 600 litres (15 minutes air duration).
The mounting brackets are made of polyamide nylon. The fastening straps
are made of nylon with quick release Velcro straps. The brackets come as a
set of two in a plastic bag. The bag contains information on the mounting
distance between the brackets.

The Unitor Escape Apparatus15M is an escape set with the exception
of a face mask with a breathing valve replacing the hood. From the
regulator the air passes via the flexible hose to the face mask. The face
mask is made of natural rubber and is provided with a large visor giving
maximum vision. The visor, connection piece and the breathing valve
are made of plastic materials which, together with the rubber parts,
have been tested to withstand aggressive chemicals and heat. The
positive pressure demand breathing system is activated by the wearers
first inhalation.

elasticated cuffs, secured by two snap-in buckles, touch and close fastening to the front and neck.

According to the new SOLAS regulations the following will apply with regard to the need for EEBD units on
board:
All ships shall carry at least two emergency escape breathing devices within accommodation spaces; in
passenger ships, at least two emergency escape breathing devices shall be carried in each main vertical zone;
in passenger ships carrying more than 36 passengers, two emergency escape breathing devices, in addition
to those required above, shall be carried in each main vertical zone. (Regulations 13.3.4.2 to 13.3.4.5 -
certain exemptions apply see regulation 13.3.4.5).
Furthermore under section 4.3 of the new SOLAS Amendment, Chapter II-2 governing Emergency Escape
Breathing Devices the following will apply:

4.3.1
On all ships, within the machinery spaces, emergency escape breathing devices shall be situated ready for
use at easily visible places, which can be reached quickly and easily at any time in the event of fire. The
location of emergency escape breathing devices must take into account the layout of the machinery space
and the number of persons normally working in the spaces.

4.3.2
The number and location of the devices shall be indicated in the fire control plan required in regulation
15.2.4. (regulation 13.4.3, which refers to the Guidelines for the performance, location, use and care of
emergency escape breathing devices (MSC/Circ.849).)

4.3.3
Emergency escape breathing devices shall comply with the Fire Safety Systems Code.

2. What is an EEBD?
An Emergency Escape Breathing Device is defined in MSC 849 as follows:

2.1 An EEBD is a supplied air or oxygen device only used for escape from a compartment that has a hazardous
atmosphere and should be of approved type.

3. Does the M-20.2 cylinder require periodic hydrostatic testing?

No. Unlike larger cylinders used in compressed air devices, cylinders of the size used by the M-20.2 EEBD do not
require any periodic hydrostatic testing.

4. What do I have to do to maintain the M-20.2?

No maintenance is required. A simple visual inspection conducted onboard by ship's personnel is required every two
years. The M-20.2 EEBD remains onboard for its entire 15 year service life.

5. How do I store the M-20.2?

The M-20.2 is shipped complete in a rugged, molded high visibility storage container that protects the EEBD from
marine environments. Stowage racks are available for convenient mounting and ready access.
