equipment used for measurements, which will affect product
quality, and as requires calibration.

RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1

The user Department or the Maintenance Department Support


Services is responsible for maintaining the calibration of all
inspection and test equipment under their custody, including
company assets, rented equipment, customer supplied equipment,
and software test programs.

4.2

The QC Personnel are responsible for ensuring the use of only


calibrated equipment and maintaining the calibration records of all
inspection, measuring and test equipment.

PROCEDURE
5.1

CALIBRATION CONTROL
5.1.1 Calibration status of all inspection, measuring and test
equipment are controlled and reported through a tracking
system (Form: CES/ST/001 Equipment Calibration Log).
5.1.2 The user verified that the inspection, measuring or test
equipment used for an activity is in accordance with the
approved test procedure or work instruction.
5.1.3 Verification includes range, type, accuracy, current calibration
status and conformance to the requirements.

5.2

CALIBRATION SERVICES
5.2.1 Only a metrology laboratory, whose standards are traceable
to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST),

shall be engaged for calibration of any inspection, measuring


and test equipment.
5.2.2 The selected metrology laboratory applies calibration labels
with the following information, as a minimum:
*Equipment control number
*Calibration date
*Date of next calibration
5.2.3 The Selected metrology laboratory provides calibration
reports with the following information as a minimum:
*Report number
*Control number of test equipment
*Condition of equipment at time of calibration
*Description of repair, if any
*Calibration data
*Environmental condition
*Calibration procedure used
*Calibration date
*Signature of calibration Technician
5.3

CALIBRATION STATUS
5.3.1 Calibration status is identified on a calibration status label
affixed to the equipment.
5.3.2 Calibrated equipment shall be segregated stored from those,
which are out of calibration or do not require calibration.

5.4

CALIBRATION INTERVALS
5.4.1 Newly purchased equipment, which requires calibration are
obtained with calibration or calibrated by a calibration
agency. Their calibration is recorded in the calibration log.
5.4.2 Periodic calibration is then scheduled based on the assigned
calibration interval.
5.4.3 Whenever an equipment is damaged, suspected to be
damaged or tampered with in any way, it is submitted for recalibration prior to further use.
5.4.4 Calibration intervals shall be based on contract requirements,
manufacturer recommendations or other technical data.
5.4.5 Intervals may be revised based on demonstrated
performance.
5.4.6 Acceptance criteria for calibration shall be as provided by the
calibrating agency for each type of equipment.

5.5.1 Equipment is recalled in accordance with the data provided in


the Calibration Control file including periodic inspection
results.
5.5.2 Users return the equipment to stores when they are
scheduled for re-calibration.
5.5.3 When test equipment is found to be out of tolerance during
use, the user department identifies the equipment, the
measurement capability, out of tolerance and the variation
from the standard.
5.5.4 The equipment is taken out from service, the products
measured with this equipment is put on HOLD, and the
impact of the measurement made on the product is
evaluated before their acceptance.
