OBJECTIVES:
To control the DC Motor using relays
To control the motor in forward and reversed direction.

MATERIALS
2 pieces of Relay with base
2 Normally Open Push Button
1 Normally Closed Push Button
1 Bread board
2m connecting wires (red)
2m connecting wires (black)
3 pieces LED light
Previous Experiments (VDCC, Potentiometer, Motor,
Resistors)

PROCEDURE

1. Hook connecting wires in the base of the relay similar to the
specified design.
2. Put the push button precise to the design.
3. Connect the LED in place with a resistor to maintain the
required voltage of the LED.
4. Use the Breadboard to join wires and other components in
their appropriate places.
5. Check all the connections before connecting the 24V source.

ANALYSIS
First in the push buttons, a Normally Open push button is
used to be the switches of Forward and Reverse. When the N.O.
push button is pushed the coil will be energized and the paralleled
relay will make a path for the current to flow. (See in the design
below). This method is called latching. The relays are the one
making the latching possible. The latching relay works with the use
of coils. These coils control the relay. It generates a magnetic field.
As the circuit generates electricity, the switch pushes from one side
to the other.
To Forward and Reverse the DC Motor we used relays in
combination (See in the design) When the forward button is
actuated the relay will be energized and then the switches of relay
will be closed for the current to flow, the reverse use the similar
principle.
For stopping the device. Normally Closed push button is
used to be the STOP button, when pushed the power will be
interrupted and all the energized coils will be de-energized.

CONCLUSION
A relay is an electrical switch that is operated by an
electromagnet, such as a solenoid. When a small current passes
through the electromagnet's coiled wire, it produces a magnetic
field that attracts a movable iron bar, causing it to pivot and open or
close the switch.
A relay, quite simply, is a small machine consisting of an
electromagnet (coil), a switch, and a spring. The spring holds the
switch in one position, until a current is passed through the coil.
The coil generates a magnetic field which moves the switch. It's
that simple. You can use a very small amount of current to activate
a relay, and the switch can often handle a lot of current.

RECOMMENDATION
Check if the relay can handle the voltage of the source.
Use resistor for the LED to maintain the required voltage of the LED.
