A final reflection on racial injustice.

(CARJ) aims to raise awareness of the issues of racism and racial justice in schools
and in society generally.

Lord Jesus, we pray a blessing for all those actively engaged in the struggle for racial justice.

Holy Spirit, we beseech you to enter into the minds and hearts of all those in authority in the

Grant that we may
Hear the voices crying out for justice
Engage in developing a better understanding

Lead and inspire others by their good example.

The love of God is greater than all evil.

We pray for racial justice in our lives, in our school, in our dioceses and in our land.

GOSPEL REFLECTION Fasting – Ramadan

Jesus said, ‘If your brother, sister or
friend does something wrong, go and
have it out with them alone …If they
listen to you, you have won back a
friend…’
REFLECTION
Sometimes it’s hard to deal with other
people in the right way. If I’m hurt or
angry I may keep my feelings to myself
or talk unkindly about someone behind
their back.
Lord, give me the courage I need to
speak honestly and openly with others.
Help me to forgive others and to accept
forgiveness from them.
Many of our Moslem students have already begun
a month of fasting during the month of Ramadan
(which began on 21st August).
Fasting is a tool used by believers of different faith
traditions to help them be more reliant on God. It
also helps people identify with the poor in all
countries. We can support (and join) all who are
fasting by trying to live more simply and doing
without things that are inessential. The prophet
Isaiah said:
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to
loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of
the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break
every yoke? (Isaiah 58).
Ask yourself: How can I show solidarity with
people who are suffering?
