Mentor to be
"We will all be teachers. In a matter of time, we'll graduate and practice our profession.
We will all be in schools teaching the subjects we once hated, giving assignments to our
students and putting "X marks the spot" on papers now and then. We'll learn to hate and
love our students in every other way. Unknown
When I saw the movie clip Three letters from Teddy in the class last Sunday I was not
able to get the whole story since I have a vision problem. Later I downloaded it and
watch it. It was a very touching story, between a student and his teacher. It shows the
importance of a teachers role on each and every student life. But what is the most
important is making the difference of becoming a teacher. Being human it is our nature
to love and like kids or our students who are good in our class, who are neat looking,
behave and studios ones. In the story of Teddy, Miss Thompson turned her attention to
teddy because of reading the previous comments of Teddys teacher, from that point of
the story, Miss Thompson know that Teddy needs more attention, which she did. This is
the turning point of the story for me, because if Miss Thompson did not turn more
attention and affection to Teddy, he will not feel he is important and believe into to
himself and regain his self-confidence.
During the time I was watching this movie clip, I come to think who the best teacher I
had in my whole life, just like what Teddy said to his letters to Miss Thompson. In my
Elementary days, I cant remember anyone as well in my high school and college. Here
comes my Professional Education class, there is one teacher that really catches my
attention, she makes me more eager to listen and learn more to her, I dont even want
to miss one of her classes. Every time in our class I make sure to pay attention to her
because I know that every time in class there is new things I can learn from her. And
what makes her special as a teacher, when she motivates us as a learner, she always
touch my heart and soul. Her explanations always satisfied my question in mind and
easy to understand. Her name is Dr. Lanila Palapar. Thank you for being a good
teacher to all of us. I fell so privileged to have you as my mentor.
Finally if someday if I will be able to practice my teaching profession, I want to like Miss
Thompson, I want to make a difference on the life of my future students not only
academically but also to their lives. I want to be a source of their inspiration, and make
sure Ill be a mentor to them and not a tormentor.
