Thanks for your interest in the City of
Sugar Lands Parks and Recreation
activities, events and parks. There truly
is something for everyone in Sugar Land
to enjoy. We have a number of events
coming up this summer: Kids Fish,
Memorial Day, Star Spangled Spectacular
and RecFest. Also, the Citys municipal pool
will be open Memorial Day weekend, and
then it will open for the summer on Tuesday,
June 10. Bring your sunscreen and a towel,
and enjoy a relaxing day outdoors.
I am proud to say that we were recently
named the 2014 Texas Gold Medal Award
winner by the Texas Recreation and Park
Society (TRAPS). This award honors
communities that demonstrate excellence
in long-range park planning, park and
recreation resource management,
community programs and events, public
input, marketing efforts and agency
recognition during the past three years.
Whether you are new to Sugar Land or
you have lived here all your life, I hope you
will explore all that the City has to offer.
Many great additions have been made to
our parks in recent years, and many more
large projects including a festival site,
Brazos River Park Phase II and a new
network of approximately 10 miles of
hike and bike trails are on the horizon.
Everyone will be able to enjoy the sights
and attractions that are highlights of our
community. I encourage you to come
explore them all.
