NTP Committee Charter for the Production Committee


1. Purpose
The Production Committee is established as a standing committee subordinate to the Committee Council
to ensure quality productions are presented by NTP in accord with the values, vision, and mission of
NTP.
2. Duties/Objectives
In addition to any duties/obectives outlined in the NTP bylaws, the Production Committee shall!
Produce five NTP productions per year.
"nsure there is a qualified #ssociate Producer, Technical $irector, and $irector for all NTP
productions.
"stablish responsibilities for each production role and record these responsibilities in the NTP
Production Manual.
"nsure each #ssociate Producer, Technical $irector, and $irector understands his/her
responsibilities. This will li%ely be accomplished through providing each with a copy and
necessary e&planation of the NTP Production Manual.
"nsure each #ssociate Producer, Technical $irector, and $irector is fulfilling his/her
responsibilities while maintaining the highest professional and artistic standards possible.
"nsure rights are obtained for the season's plays.
(equest facility usage for NTP productions, updating the )acilities committee as necessary.
Plan and oversee individual production budgets.
*aintain a database of material donors.
Provide season information to the P( + *ar%eting Committee for inclusion in NTP
publications.
Provide show information ,such as cast list and material donor list- to the P( + *ar%eting
Committee for inclusion in NTP publications no less than three wee%s prior to opening.
Provide audition information to the P( + *ar%eting Committee no later than . wee%s prior to
the beginning of auditions.
Propose play selections.
"stablish a Play /election /ub0Committee whose duties shall include!
/ubmitting, in a timely manner, a request for play submissions to the membership via the
*embership + 1olunteers Committee.
"nsuring scoring rules are clearly defined, approved by the Production Committee and the
2oard, and available to the membership.
(eviewing play requests submitted by membership, recording compatibility and feasibility
scores for each submission and overall scores for each play considered.
"nsuring a maority of the Play /election /ub0Committee membership are chosen from a list
of interested persons if such a list is provided by the 2oard.
Present the proposed season ,including dates- to the Committee Council for comment.
Changes can be made after this step.
Present the proposed season ,including dates and directors- to the 2oard of $irectors for
approval.
3. Authority Granted
In addition to any authority granted in the NTP bylaws, the Production Committee is authori3ed to!
- (equest information from the *embership + 1olunteers Committee regarding personnel for
purposes of production role fulfillment, contact, and the li%e.

In addition to any authority withheld in the NTP bylaws, the Production Committee is not authori3ed to!
- Commit NTP facilities, talent, and/or resources.
- Perform public relations functions.
- $irect the actions of non0supervisory production staff or actors without e&plicit permission from
their supervisor ,#ssociate Producer, Technical $irector, or $irector- e&cept under e&treme
duress.
. !eportin" !e#uire$ents
In addition to any reporting requirements in the NTP bylaws,
- The Production Committee shall provide to the Committee Council a written summary of each
Production Committee meeting and vote no later than two wee%s following the meeting or vote.

i. /elected and appointed by the 2oard.
ii. *ay hold one additional Production Committee position other than #ssistant "&ecutive
Producer.
c. Term
i. 4 years, ending at the annual membership meeting of the last year of the term.
ii. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served consecutively.
d. (emoval
i. #t the discretion of the 2oard following unacceptable performance of duties, notification
of unacceptability, and a one0month probationary period, though special circumstances
may require immediate removal.
#ssistant "&ecutive Producer
a. $uties
i. #ct as "&ecutive Producer in the absence of the "&ecutive Producer
b. /election
i. Nominated by the committee chair and approved by the 2oard.
ii. *ay hold one additional Production Committee position other than "&ecutive Producer.
c. Term
i. 4 years, ending at the annual membership meeting of the last year of the term.
ii. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served consecutively.
d. (emoval
i. #t the discretion of the 2oard following unacceptable performance of duties, notification
of unacceptability, and a one0month probationary period.
#rtistic $irector
a. $uties
i. 5or% with and oversee $irectors to maintain the highest professional and artistic
standards possible.
b. /election
i. /elected by the 2oard or the "&ecutive Producer and approved by the 2oard.
ii. *ay hold no additional Production Committee position other than "&ecutive Producer.
c. Term
i. 6 years, ending at the annual membership meeting of the last year of the term.
ii. The first term ends in 4784.

Production /upervisor

i. /elected by the 2oard or the "&ecutive Producer and approved by the 2oard.
ii. *ay hold no additional Production Committee position other than "&ecutive Producer.

i. 6 years, ending at the annual membership meeting of the last year of the term.
ii. The first term ends in 4788.
iii. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served consecutively.
d. (emoval
i. #t the discretion of the 2oard following unacceptable performance of duties, notification
of unacceptability, and a one0month probationary period.
Technical /upervisor
a. $uties
i. 5or% with and oversee Technical $irectors to maintain the highest professional and
artistic standards possible.
b. /election
i. /elected by the 2oard or the "&ecutive Producer and approved by the 2oard.
ii. *ay hold no additional Production Committee position other than "&ecutive Producer.
c. Term
i. 6 years, ending at the annual membership meeting of the last year of the term.
ii. The first term ends in 4787.
iii. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served consecutively.
d. (emoval
i. #t the discretion of the 2oard following unacceptable performance of duties, notification
of unacceptability, and a one0month probationary period.
&. 'e$bership
a. Number of *embers
i. The committee shall include no less than si& ,9- and no more than eight ,:- voting members,
including the roles listed in section 9.
b. #ppointment
i. The 2oard will appoint all additional voting members of this committee.
c. Terms
i. #ll voting members not listed in section 9 will serve 8 year terms.
ii. There is no limit to the number of terms that can be served consecutively.
d. 1oting
i. "ach voting member has one vote and the member filling the role of "&ecutive Producer does
not vote e&cept to brea% a tie.
