The document provides instructions for inspecting and repairing burns found on the lower fuselage skin of an Airbus A320 aircraft after a lightning strike. Small surface damage can be blended out or holes drilled to remove damage, and protective coatings applied. Larger damage requires temporary repairs according to the structural repair manual. The work is estimated to take 12 man-hours and requires specific materials. Procedures detail inspection, repair methods, and sign-off requirements to return the aircraft to airworthy status.

XII. ACCOMPLISHMENT PROCEDURES
*Caution: The aircraft must be safe for maintenance and obey the general maintenance practices when working on the aircraft.
1) Visually inspect and evaluate damage of the affected area ______ 2) Perform Eddy Current inspection on the surroundings to ensure no cracks can be found.
Remarks: _______________________________________
3) Eliminate surface damage by blend out but stop before exceeding those rework limits with no flight restrictions as per relevant SRM Chapter. ______
4) If damage is eliminated, perform surface protection IAW SRM Chapter 51-75-12 (Permanent Repair). ______
5) If the damage is not eliminated by doing the first procedure, perform the following:
a. To eliminate small damage drill hole starting with minimum diameter necessary to remove damage MECH. INSP. SIGN OFF Page 2 of 8 and check visually for damage.
INSTRUCTIONS
Note: In case of findings increase diameter in steps of 0.4mm (0.016in.) and re-inspection maximum allowable diameter is 6.35mm (0.250in.).
b. Install blind fastener as per fastener Table 1 (Sheet 10) and refer to A320 SRM 51-42-11. _______ b.1. In a maximum area of diameter 25.4mm (1.0in.) multiple small damage may be treated in the same way, provided that a correct fastener installation is ensured (minimum 2.0 pitch where D is the maximum burn mark diameter see Example 6 (Sheet 9)). _______ For single damage sizes greater than 6.35mm (0.250in.), perform temporary repair IAW A320 SRM Chapter 53-00-11.
c. Perform surface protection IAW A320 SRM Chapter 51-75-12. ______
Note: Applicable for burn marks on skin caused by lightning strikes located at a distance 15mm (0.591in.) from an existing fastener (refer to Example 5, Sheet 8) and for a skin thickness up to 3.2mm (0.126in.) and effective in accordance with Figure 210. In case access to the inside of the fuselage skin has been made or is possible at the affected area it is highly recommended to perform a permanent repair.
