Bangladesh Betar is the state-owned radio broadcasting organisation of Bangladesh.

BANGLADESH BETAR - EXTERNAL SERVICE

41 and 31 metre-bands (7250 and 9550 kHz). This was reduced to just one frequency (7250 kHz) and
from early 2010 was not heard at all, probably due to the remaining transmitter being in a state of
disrepair. However, during 2012 a new Thomson 250 kW shortwave transmitter and rotatable antenna
system was installed at Khabipur and tests were first heard in August 2012 on a number of frequencies
including 7105, 15105, 15505 and 15520 kHz. The monitored schedule since mid-August is below.

BHUTAN

BHUTAN BROADCASTING SERVICE
Radio Broadcasting was started by a group of young volunteers, known as the National Youth Association
of Bhutan (NYAB) in November 1973. The station was operational only on Sundays with 30 minutes of
news and music. The NYAB club office was transformed to radio studio at weekends. The 400-watt
transmitter was rented from the local telegraph office. The station was called Radio NYAB. In 1979, the
Royal Government recognizing the importance of the radio for development communication, incorporated
the station under the Ministry of Communications. In 1986 with the commissioning of a 10 kW shortwave
transmitter and a small broadcast studio, Radio NYAB was renamed as Bhutan Broadcasting Service
(BBS). In March 1991, BBS acquired its permanent seat in Chubachu, Thimphu, and a 50 kW shortwave
transmitter. In August 2007, a 100 kW shortwave transmitter with DRM capability was commissioned.

and coverage. Radio Nepal currently airs programmes on mediumwave and FM. Programming is mainly
in Nepali but the daily schedule includes segments in other languages.

The Radio Nepal shortwave transmitter at Khumaltar has not been reported on its usual frequency of
5005 kHz since mid-2010 and is believed to be silent due to a technical fault.
