Futura was originally designed between 1924 and 1926 by typeface designer Paul Renner. It was
commissioned by the Bauer type foundry and was later released in 1927.
This means that Futura was created in the Bauhaus period.
The Futura that was released in
1927 was the normal font. In
1928, the Light, Medium, Bold,
and Bold Oblique fonts were
published. In 1930, the Light
Oblique, Medium Oblique,
Demibold, and Demibold Oblique
fonts were released. The Book font
was released in 1932 and the
Book Oblique font in 1939.
