Reflection
On 10 October which is Friday, me and my groupmates have managed to present our
micro teaching successfully. There is lots of experience that I gain during the process before
and after carrying out the simulated teaching. The experiences have taught me well in preparing
myself to be better in the future as a future English teacher.
As for the approach that I have chosen, which is Deductive Approach, I can relate that
after presenting my simulated teaching, I am sure that deductive approach is the right and
suitable way to teach grammar. This happens because the deductive approach needs the
teacher to explain from general to specific. Young learners tend to get confuse learning many
facts in one time, but then by carrying out lesson according to deductive approach will make
them to understand better as they will be given chances to do lots of exercises to make them
understand more. As what can I tell after presenting my simulated teaching is that when I
wanted to teach them about fresh fruits, I have given them plenty of times and chances to say
and spell out the fruits name just to make sure that they received the right facts.
For the issues that I have stated in my critical response, what can I relate the most is
ways of attracting young learners to learn about grammar. Based from my simulated teaching, I
have shown them an interesting music video based on what they are going to learn after that
which is fresh fruits. Other than that, I also brought some 3D models of fresh fruits to gain their
attention towards the lesson, thus in learning grammar too. Besides, one of the issues is that
the young learners might understand well during the lesson, but then failed to apply it outside
the class. To make sure that they understand it well, and also to use grammar outside the
classroom correctly, many exercises should be given by the teacher so that the pupils can use it
in their daily life.
Based from my simulated teaching, I do receive positive feedbacks from Sir Bashir and
also some weakness which I can improve to make myself better. Some of the positive feedback
given by Sir Bashir are the video that I have shown is good and interesting, so it will attract the
young learners. Other than that, the effort given by bringing the 3D fruits during the lesson also
one of the effective ways in attracting pupils. Some of the weaknesses from my part is the font
and colour used for my word cards. In order to make the pupils to see and read it clearly, I need
to change the colour of my word cards.

I hope that all the feedback given from Sir Bashir and also the experiences of carrying
out the simulated teaching will improve myself to be better in the future.
