EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

TIRDO invites qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacant posts.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania. Applicants who are currently
employed in the public service should route their application letters through their
respective employers.
ii. Applicants must attach an up-to-date current Curriculum Vitae (CV) having
reliable contact, postal address, e-mail and telephone numbers.
iii. The title of the position applied for should be written in the subject of the
application letter and marked on the envelope; short of which will make the
application invalid.
iv. Partial transcripts and results slips will not be accepted.
v. Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV will
necessitate to legal action
vi. Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reason
should not apply.
vii. Applicants should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.
viii. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for ordinary or advanced level
education should be certified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania
(NECTA)
ix. Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by The Tanzania
Commission for Universities (TCU)
x. Only short listed candidates will be informed on a date for interview

1.0 RESEARCH OFFICERS

1.1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Develop programmes to achieve goals set in the corporate strategic plan
II. Carry out needs assessment study and give baseline information on a yearly
basis and provide report.
III. Develop two (2) researches and develop proposal annually and submit for
funding outside the organization.
IV. Implement three (3) approved projects during the year.
V. Carry out applied research on industrial inputs, raw materials and products
with the aim of enhancing productivity and ascertaining quality in industry
and disseminate the technologies.
VI. Win at least one (1) customer per quarter of a year to increase Institution
income.
VII. Disseminate one project/consultancy findings in one year.
VIII. Prepare articles in a form suitable for presentation or publication
IX. Prepare and submit regular reports on the progress of research projects or
services undertaken by you.
X. Carry out any other duties/assignments given to you by your superiors.


2.0 RESEARCH OFFICER 1 (ENVIRONMENT) - 3 POSTS

2.1 QUALIFICATIONS
A holder of M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences. Must have a B.Sc. with upper second
class honors. Working experience will be an added advantage.

3.0 RESEARCH OFFICER I (LEATHER AND TEXTILE) - 4 POSTS

3.1 QUALIFICATIONS
A holder of M.Sc. in Textile Engineering/Textile Technology or in other relevant field.
Must have a B.Sc. with upper second class honors. Working experience will be an
added advantage.

4.0 RESEARCH OFFICER I (ENERGY, COAL) - 4 POSTS

4.1 QUALIFICATIONS
A holder of M.Sc. in Energy Technology, Bias in Coal or Petroleum will be an added
advantage. Must have a B.Sc. with upper second class honors.

5.0 RESEARCH OFFICER I (AGRO-PROCESSING AND INDUSTRIAL
CHEMISTRYT) - 4 POSTS

5.1 QUALIFICATIONS
A holder of M.Sc. in Chemistry (Natural Products, Analytical Chemistry or Industrial
Chemistry) Must have a B.Sc. with upper second class honors. Working experience
will be an added advantage.

6.0 RESEARCH OFFICER I (FOOD AND BIOTECHNOLOGY) - 2 POSTS
6.1 QUALIFICATIONS
A holder of M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology or Biotechnology must possess B.Sc. in
Microbiology or Molecular Biology with upper second class honors. Working
experience will be an added advantage.

7.0 TECHNICIANS- 6 POSTS
7.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Take charge of the laboratory for cleanliness, arrangements, plan of activities
and keep records of standard practices
II. Prepare specimens, or reagents and all facilities for anticipated physical
analysis, chemical analysis, research and development, consultancy or
technical services activities.
III. Carry out chemical analysis on industrial inputs, raw materials and products
under the direction of senior research officer, with the aim of enhancing and
ascertaining quality in industry.
IV. Carry out one (1) research work under the supervision of a senior research
officer.
V. Assist ROs in executing at least two (2) customer contracts per quarter in a
year to increase institution income.
VI. Identify and report in writing to the HoD all equipment due for service,
calibration or repair in the laboratory.
VII. In collaboration with ROs execute two (2) approved projects in a year.
VIII. Carry out any other duties/assignment given to you by your superiors.


8.0 TECHNICIAN II (ENVIRONMENT) - 2 POSTS

8.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of form IV certificate plus FTC or Ordinary Diploma (same as National
Technical Award (NTA) level 6) in Water Laboratory Technology from recognized
institution,. Working experience will be an added advantage.

9.0 TECHNICIAN II (FOOD) - 2 POSTS
9.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of form IV certificate plus FTC or Ordinary Diploma (same as National
Technical Award (NTA) level 6 from recognized institution). A major in Microbiology
and working experience will be an added advantage.

10.0 TECHNICIAN II (AGRO-TECH AND INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY) -
2 POSTS

10.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of form IV certificate plus FTC or Ordinary Diploma (same as National
Technical Award (NTA) level 6 from recognized institution). Working experience will
be an added advantage.

11.0 TECHNICIAN (LEATHER) - 2 POSTS

11.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of form IV certificate plus Diploma or Certificate in Leather Processing
(same as National Technical Award (NTA) level 4 or 6 from recognized institution).
Working experience will be an added advantage.

12.0 TECHNICIAN II (ENERGY) - 1 POST
12.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of form IV Certificate plus Certificate or Diploma in Thermo Dynamics,
(same as National Technical Award (NTA) level 4 or 6 from recognized institution).
Working experience will be an added advantage.

13.0 Remuneration:
Will be attractive based on qualifications and experience but within approved TIRDO
Scheme of Service and Treasury Registrar`s Salary Directives.
