Hope you are fine and doing well. I have been going through your research
work and quite impressed with your work. At present I am attached with the
University of Karachi. I was also deputed to work as a scientist in the SAARC
Meteorological Research Centre (SMRC), Dhaka. There I work on climate
changes issues and got START young scientists Award 2000 on the basis of
my climate change research work in SMRC, Dhaka. The encouragement
which I got from START helped me a lot and I worked on different issues of
climate change facing south Asian countries. The research output has already
been published and available in the form of reports and papers. The list of
publication with brief CV is attached for your perusal.

Well after completing my tenure in SMRC, I returned back to my parent

Department (National Institute of Oceanography, Pakistan) in 2002. Later on, I
joined Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi as Professor
and now engage in teaching as well as in research work. Here in UoK, besides
atmospheric physics, air and noise pollution, marine pollution and Dynamics of
Ocean and atmosphere, I am also teaching a course Climate and Climate
Change to MS and Ph.D. level students. Since, models and modelling
facilities are not well established in the University of Karachi, I would like to
know more about available climate models such as GCMs and regional
models (RCMs) etc. to enhance my knowledge of climate models and their
working.

In view of above, I am in search of any opportunity to work on these models in

any advance country. Since your expertise is climate change issue, I am
writing with the feelings that you may give me an opportunity to work with you
especially on climate models. I am sure working under your guidance at least
two to four weeks on available climate models certainly help me to enhance
my knowledge of modelling work.

It is therefore requested that please accommodate me to work with you in the

coming month. By the way, mid of November to December 2009 is semester
break in the University of Karachi (Holidays) so that I can manage to visit
during mentioned period. Moreover, is this any possibility of financial support
for developing countries researchers (even partial) for the proposed visit?

Your guidance and kind support certainly help me to enhance my capabilities

of teaching and research work.

Hope to hear you soon.

With best regards,

Dr. Tariq Masood Ali Khan

Dear Prof. Tariq Masood Ali Khan,

This course is open not only to students, but also to researchers who want
to deepen their knowledge of some aspects of climate change in the
Mediterranean region.

Thus, do not exitate to submit a formal e-mail requiring participation in

this school and specifing which parallel session you want to attend. Please,
include a CV.

The only thing that I could not guarantee is the financial support, which
probably will be devoted uniquely to students. I hope you can find funds in
order to pay your travel, accomodation and fee. Otherwise, please, submit a
request for financial support for travel and/or accomodation and we will see
if it shall be possible to satisfy this request.

Kind regards

Antonello Pasini
