Winaldl: A free program used for diagnostics on your car (Used for VN VP VG VQ Only)
EFILive v 4 Eval: This program is used in conjunction with eval license key which is supplied on the
disk.
EFILive v 4 Pro: A license key must be purchased from www.efilive.com before this version can be
used. (This version has been supplied for your convenience)

Installation
USB Drivers
1. DO NOT plug in cable yet!
2. Insert CD-Rom in to drive. Open CD to view files. (normally drive D)
3. Depending on which cable you have received will depend on which drivers you will need to
install. If the cable you have is a light blue in colour with a clear/blue LED, then you will need
to install the FTDI drivers. If your cable is dark blue in colour with a red LED, then you will
need to install the CH341SER drivers. These drivers can be found in the USB Drivers folder
on the CD-Rom
4. Double click required file and follow the on screen instructions. This will install the drivers for
your new USB cable
5. Once installed you may plug in your cable. Allow your computer to finish installing the drivers
for your device.
6. Once completed continue onto software installation.
Adjust your com port settings
In most cases you will need to adjust your com port setting for this device as the automatically
assigned one will be in most cases out of range. To do this, simply follow the steps below.
1. On your computer, (With your USB Device plugged into your computer) proceed to your Start
menu (Bottom left hand corner of screen) and open up control panel.
2. Select system and open device manager.
3. On the device manager tree, look for Ports (com & lpt) and click the plus to expand on the
device tree.
4. Right click USB Serial port and select Properties.
5. In Properties, select Port Settings Tab and then Advance.
6. Look for com port number and select any available port between 1 and 4.
7. Click Ok and your device is now ready for use.
8. Important! Insure you use the same USB port for this device as plugging it into another USB
port on your computer will require you to go through these same steps again.

Software installation
Winaldl.exe (VN VP VG VQ Only)
1. In CD explorer Double click winaldl.exe, this will start the installation of the program.
2. Once complete, run winaldl.
3. Select configuration button at the top of the screen, this will open a new window.

4. Select your ecm type using the up and down arrows. Your ecm type will be 1227808. Once
selected press exit and this will save the information.
5. Locate your diagnostic terminal which you will find under your glove box and behind (or
above) your passagner side kick panel. It is a six terminal white connector. It should be the
only plug with nothing connected to it.
6. Connect your diagnostic cable to your car and the other end to your USB port on your
computer.
7. Start your car. You will notice your engine check light will be flashing at an in-consistant rate.
This is normal as the car is now in diagnostic mode. Open the winaldl program on your
computer and you will see the raw data being displayed on the screen. Select the other tabs to
view the required information ie: sensor data, fault codes etc.
You have now successfully setup and installed your diagnostic cable.
EFILive v 4 (All Models VN VY excluding LS1 models)
1. Insert CD-Rom in to drive. Open CD to view files. (normally drive D)
2. Open file EFILive v 4 and select EFILiveV465_305_Eval program This will start the
installation. Follow the promts and select finish when done.
3. When you first run the program you will be promted to enter a license key. Please see Below.

Please enter ONLY those details listed above (i.e. do not enter your email address as this will
cause the license to be invalid).

4. From here on, for program operation select the Help option and help again. This will open up a
window which will give further instuctions.
5. Locate your Diagnostic socket and plug away (you will find your diagnostic socket under your
steering wheel.

FAQ's
Q. After installing efilive, When I run the program, I keep getting error messages and comm port time
out error.
A. Computers have different configurations for different reasons, not all are the same, Operating
systems and components just to name a couple. To fix this, open EFIlive, in the top menu select 'Edit'
and 'Properties', This will bring up a new window. Select the comm's tab, Look for 'max232 echo',
next to it should be a check box. If there is no tick, select it with your mouse to place a tick. If there is a
tick, select with your mouse to remove it. Select ok, and try again.
