Title of Thesis
Hudna: Analyzing Causes of Armed Conflict in Mindanao

Academically, the University is a setting where the east meets west - a

convergence of scholars, academics and students alike from all parts of the
globe. ICU, likewise, pride itself as one of the most selective universities in
Japan. Thus, the university is assured that the students entered are among
the cream of the crop. This is the very reason why ICU as my university of
choice.
My life in Japan has been an exhilarating and whirlwind of an
experience. It feels like a child receiving his first box of chocolate. You dont
know what to expect, how it would taste like? Or how would it look like?
One thing is for certain, I learned a lot.
Coming to Japan has been a childhood dream. You could imagine how my
face looked when I first set foot on the Land of the Rising Suns soil, how it
felt when I tasted my first authentic soba or drank a well refined sake. It was
a moment of unimaginable and unexplainable scene. Every day has always
been packed with adventure. Each has extraordinary story to tell that can be
added to a number of lists of misadventures/mishaps and victories/
successes.
As a student of ICU, I learned so many things that inspired me to do
excellently in each class and activities. I became a member of various
clubs/organizations and volunteered to humanitarian causes. As the Vice
President of the graduate school for Public Policy and Social Research
Department, I led a variety of enhancement programs for graduate students.
Further, through hard work and dedication, some professors saw a potential
that led me to conduct lectures to diverse seminars and undergraduate
courses
Furthermore, erudition of knowledge is expected from highly qualified
academics. Through its diversity, an exchange of culture and traditions from
various nationalities other than the Japanese are to be expected - a picture
that depicts a story of Unity in Diversity. Seeing this depiction firsthand in my
two-year studies enthuse me to carry out my share in preserving peace in
Mindanao. I would forever cherish every bit of experience I had. It made me
a better public servant and a well-improved individual. Thanks to JDS, a well
invested knowledge and edification will be put to a greater use and purpose.
