RULES :

1. All students entering campus will undergo a baggage check at the main gate.
2. Consumption of alcohol, tobacco or any intoxicant is strictly prohibited within campus
premises.
3. Any flammable liquids, knives and explosives of any kind are strictly prohibited inside the
campus.
4. Any other item if deemed unsafe will be prohibited.
5. All students are required to carry a valid ID proof at all times.
6. Display of violence in any form is forbidden. It will lead to disqualification of the college and
its expulsion from campus.
7. Use of water and fire on stage is not allowed.
8. Any form of vulgarity and obscenity on or off stage will lead to disqualification.
9. Eatables are not allowed inside the auditorium.
10. Decisions of the Organizing committee will be final and binding on all parties.

RULES :
1. Time limit includes setup time
2. Negative marking on exceeding time limit and disqualification on exceeding the number of
participants may be enforced.
3. No substitutions are allowed. The same team that was registered for the Eliminations must
perform in the finals.
4. An Open event is one in which participants can be from one single college, multiple colleges,
or from no college at all.
5. More than one team is allowed per college, but only one can be an official entry.
6. All Open events do not carry any winning points to the college
7. If the other entries from that particular college win a position in the event, the points will
not be added to the total points of the college accumulated over the three days.
8. Colleges with multiple teams must specify which one of their multiple entries is the official
entry prior to the event.

RULES :
8. In case of a win, teams having non-college participation will not have their points added to
any of the colleges total points.
9. Violation of any other rules will be penalized appropriately by the organizers.
10. Decisions taken by the judges will be final and binding.

RULES :
1. Bets should be placed only by the contingent leader/ student coordinator of the college at

A prepared sequence of about 4 - 6 minutes has to be performed.


Tracks exceeding 6 minutes will be given negative points.
Only Bollywood songs or their remixes are allowed. Else the team will be disqualified.
A minimum of 6 dancers must be present on stage at all times of the performance.
It is sufficient for one person of the group to wear the entire costume of the dance. However
if the costume is not uniform, participants must wear one of each type.
6. Usage of props is allowed but it does not carry extra credit. Usage of props should be
consulted with event manager at the time of registration. Usage of any powdered
substance(e.g. colour,powder,glaal, etc) has to be informed to the event manager in advance.

7. Teams qualifying for the next round will depend on the number of participants
8. The elimination round takes place completely before judges only, behind closed doors.
9. No lead dancer or solo performances is allowed in any of the rounds.

10. The auditorium screen will not be allowed to be used for any purpose (for example, photos,

Final Round One:
1. The same prepared sequence is performed in front of a large audience in the auditorium.

*A second round can take place, only if found necessary by the judges and the event managers.
The rules for the second round (if it takes place) will be disclosed at the end of the elimination
round. So at least one member from every group must stay back till the results of the elimination
round are announced.

RULES :
Elimination Round:
1. A 3-5 minute long prepared dance sequence has to be performed.
2. No classical dance forms are allowed.
3. This round of the event is performed behind closed doors, before the judges only.
4. The dance soundtracks are to be submitted to the event manager at the time of registration.
Final Round One:
1. The same 3-5 minute long prepared dance sequence has to be performed again, this time in
front of an audience.
Final Round Two | Character:
1. Every participant would be given a sound track of 1-2 min duration and a character has to be
portrayed.
2. Points will be awarded on the basis of choreography and on the adaptability to the character
and the soundtrack.

Final Round Three | Footloose:
1. Two participants are simultaneously called on stage. The first participant dances to a song
played on the spot while the other stays still.
2. When a suitable signal is given, the first participant freezes and the second participant
immediately begins dancing to the continuation of the same song.
3. When the song is changed, the entire process is repeated except, unlike earlier, the second
participant will have to begin this time.
4. In this way, the song is changed several times while the participants dance in an alternating
manner.

**The judges decision will be final and binding to all. The college reserves the right, in its sole
discretion, to disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has
not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.

RULES :
Elimination Round:
1. Each participant will dance for 1 minute to a song given to them on the spot.
2. Top 16 performers of this round will move forward to the next round.
Final Round:
1. This round aims at judging both the dancing ability and the adaptability of the participants so
that they can prove their mettle in a short period of time to continue to be in the race for the
winner's spot.

Final Round One:


1. All 16 participants will be divided into 4 groups comprising of 4 participants each.
2. Each participant in the group has to perform in a given area. If a participant steps out of the
area, he/she shall be warned once. If the offence is repeated, the participant will be
eliminated immediately.

3. One group will perform at a time where all 4 participants in that group dance simultaneously
on a tune provided to them.
4. One participant will be eliminated every 30/45 seconds.
5. Top 2 performers of every group, for a total of 8 people, will move to the next round.
Final Round Two:
1. All 8 participants will be divided into 2 groups comprising of 4 participants each.
2. Each participant in the group has to perform in a given area. If a participant steps out of the
area, he/she shall be warned once. If the offence is repeated, the participant will be
eliminated immediately.
3. One group will perform at a time where all 4 participants in that group dance simultaneously
on a tune provided to them.
4. One participant will be eliminated every 30/45 seconds.
5. Top 2 performers of every group, for a total of 4 people, will move to the next round.

Final Round Three:
1. All 4 performers will perform simultaneously and every 45 seconds , one person will be
eliminated.
2. Each participant has to perform in a given area. If a participant steps out of the area, he/she
will be warned once. If the offence is repeated, the participant will be eliminated

3. The top two performers of this round will move to the final round.
Final Round Four:
1. The two finalists battle it out simultaneously for at least 1 minute and are marked on specific
criteria like skill, adaptability, energy level, creativity and should perform until one is
eliminated or bows out.

discretion, to disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has
not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.

RULES :
General Rules:
1. The songs should have lyrics in Indian languages. However, a rap with English lyrics is allowed.
2. Original compositions are allowed. In this case, 3 copies of the lyrics must be submitted at
time of registration on campus.
3. In case of lyrics in any Indian language other than Hindi or English 3 copies of the literal
translation of the lyrics in English must be submitted at the time of registration on campus.
4. Lyrics will be checked for vulgarity and profanity.
5. Every extra minute taken beyond specified time limit will lead to reduction of 5% of the total
marks scored.
6. Usage of at least one percussion instrument is compulsory.
7. Minimum of one vocalist is compulsory.
8. There should be minimum of four performing members on the stage at any particular point in
time.

Keyboard, a congo and a Tabla Set. Any other instrument has to be brought by the

Elimination Round: ( 10 mins )
1. Minimum one song is to be performed within the given time. If at all the team plans to
perform more than one song then the time limit should be taken care of.
2. Only one song from the elimination round can be performed in the finals.

Finals: ( 15 mins )
Maximum of 7 teams will qualify for this round.
Rules for the finals are:
1. Minimum of two songs have to be performed
2. One song of the two has to be a new arrangement/improvisation of an old bollywood
song. ( before 1990s ). Also the improvisation should include a short instrumental
piece.
3. Bonus points will be awarded if the instrumental piece is an original composition.
4. This song can also be a mashup of maximum two songs.
5. The vocalists may choose to hum, whistle, sing taraanaas, sargam or in aakar but cannot
sing discrete words during the instrumental piece.
6. The other song can be the one performed in eliminations or it could be a new song also.

3. A minimum of one vocalist is compulsory.

1. This event tests the skills of the participants in Indian classical music.
2. It is a solo vocal competition and will be conducted in two categories, Carnatic and
Hindustani.
3. The participants may bring their own accompaniments/accompanists.
4. No accompaniments will be provided.
5. Bonus marks will be awarded for extempore singing at the discretion of the judges.
6. Every extra minute taken beyond the specified time limit will lead to reduction of 5% of the
total marks scored.
7. Judging criteria include: Improvisation, Authenticity, Overall Performance, Sur, Taal, Raag
Varnan, Pakad, Swar Sankalp.

1. The team must present a stage play of one or more acts.
2. The play must be in Hindi and/or English.
3. Teams are advised to minimize their usage of props. Only tables and chairs will be provided
by organizers.
4. Sound can be provided only through sound clips, which should be made available on a pen
drive well before the event. Special arrangements will not be made for live music.
5. A total of up to four members from a team are allowed to work backstage, with a maximum
of one participant working with each of sound and lights. The remaining two members may
work on stage setup and help with other incidental needs on stage.
6. Points will be deducted for exceeding the maximum time limit.
7. The judges' decision will be final and binding.

RULES :
Elimination Procedure:
1. Once registered, teams should email a copy of their script to any of the Event Managers,
whose details are available on the Contact page. The email should also mention the
approximate duration of the performance, as well as a list of props used. No team will be
considered for the event without the submission of the script. The deadline for script
submission is 10th October, 2014 and the scripts be emailed to bpgcdramaclub@gmail.com.

2. The elimination of teams will be done based on scripts. Teams may also submit a video of
their performance. The duration of the video should be 2-5 minutes. The video may be of a
normal rehearsal. Props and costumes are not required, and will not be considered towards
the teams audition score. The video should be uploaded to YouTube (or any other videosharing site of your choice), and a link to the same should be emailed to any of the Event
Managers immediately.

Elimination Round:
1. The participants will be required to present a monologue for 1 minute, after which they will be
asked rapid fire questions about the personality.
2. Dressing up as the personality would attract more points.
3. 5-8 participants will make it to the final round.

1. The participant has to present a monologue for 1 minute. The participant may or may not
present the same monologue in the final round as presented earlier.
2. The participants shall be divided in groups of 4 each and will be interviewed by the host.
3. The participants will be given a situation and will have to justify why they are better equipped
to deal with it than their opponents. (Research on all the characters will come in handy in this
round).
4. Other contestants can interject to defend/accuse in an orderly manner.
5. This will be followed by a few more rounds of cross questioning that will be announced after
the eliminations.
6. The participants are requested to get their facts right regarding the personality.
7. Not doing this may lead to deduction of points.
8. Points will be deducted for vulgarity.

1. Skime is not a conventional mime. No other rules of conventional mime need to be followed
(Face paints etc. are not compulsory).
2. Maximum Eight members may be on stage and two others have to be off stage.
3. The teams may use movie songs/tunes and slideshows to support their plot.
4. No recognizable Human voices and dialogues can be used by participants. (But sounds like
dog barks are allowed).
5. Human Dialogues are not allowed but human voices as a part of songs/music can be used.
6. The use of a synthesizer or any other musical instrument is allowed.
7. There are no restrictions on the costumes.
8. Use of costumes of different kind, apart from the general costume of the participants, shall
also be considered as props. Each different kind of costume shall be considered as a prop.
9. However, variety in colors of the same kind of costume is not considered as an additional

Round 2 :

and the participants will need to give a running commentary of the events in the video).
2. The tone might be satirical/non-satirical.
Round 3 :
1. The last round will be a one-on-one interview round where each participant will be given a
role of some (in)famous personality and they will have to interview each other keeping the

4. All entries must be completely original and independently produced. Content and idea should

1. This is a Screening round. Selected best entries will be short-listed for further rounds.

5. The results will be announced as soon as possible so that the selected participants can make

1. This will be a theme-based round.
2. The theme will be announced a few days before fest so that the participants can prepare the
script & complete the pre-production phase of their film.
3. The selected participants will have to come to BITS-Pilani K.K. Birla Goa Campus to shoot
their film for this round.
4. They will then present their films to the respected judge(s) who will be a successful,
respected film-maker from the industry.
5. The participants of this round will also have the opportunity to interact with the judge(s)
during a dedicated session so that they can clear their myths about industry standards & filmmaking related queries.

General Rules:
1. The competition is open to all participants of Waves-2014. They have to register for this in
teams of 2 or 3 members.
2. There are no specific camera/equipment requirements for this event. Participants may even
use their mobile cameras.
3. The competition comprises of two rounds spread over Day-1 and Day-2 of Waves-2014.
4. The photographs should be submitted only in digital format(s) (jpg,jpeg,png etc) and no form
of editing/post-processing is acceptable.
5. Sharing of cameras and pictures between teams is strictly not allowed.
6. Photos have to be clear enough to judge.

1. This is a speed photography round.
2. Participants will be given a set of hints/questions , the answers for which will be hidden
across the festival and institute.
3. Designated points will be awarded based on each correct answer (clicked photograph) and a

4. Teams with highest accumulated points will make it to the second round of the competition.
Round-2 :
1. This is a theme based photography round.
2. The participants will be given a choice from 3 themes to click, of which they can select only
one theme.
3. Points will be awarded for clicking the maximum number of correct photographs based on

1. First round is virtual Gold trading game BULLION BEATDOWN where participants will trade
'Gold' amongst themselves. Prices will vary according to demand and supply of the
commodity, as decided by the course of the game and the participants.
2. 8 teams from first round will be selected for the second round LOAN, PAPER,
SCISSORS where participants will have to trade on various commodities based on certain
criteria specified by event organizers at that time.
3. The entire event is designed to give a practical, hands-on experience of what the stock
market used to be like, before the electronic era, to a person without any prior financial
knowledge.

unique challenge of starting a service oriented business based on a tangible product.

3. Each group will be given a random item/thing, for them to generate a business idea with. This
random item will be solely based on the judges discretion.

1. You have to generate a service out of the random item provided by you.
2. You have to build the business idea around the random item provided to you. It has to
be central to the service that you generate.

3. Clarity of the pitch.
9. The time provided to the teams for the generation of the idea will increase as they proceed
further in the competition and so will the time to give the pitch. This is because as the
competition progresses the teams will have to come up with elaborate business and revenue
models, providing details with respect to the customer types, the market that they attempt
to enter, the entry- barriers and their plans to expand and scale.
*The time limit as the competition progresses will be based solely on the judges discretion.

Elimination Round :

1. A prepared sequence of about 4 - 6 minutes has to be performed on the first day. The
participants may incorporate any style(except Indian Classical).
2. A minimum of 6 dancers must be present on stage at all times of the performance.
3. It is sufficient for one person of the group to wear the entire costume of the dance. However
if the costume is not uniform, participants must wear one of each type.
4. Usage of props is allowed but it does not carry extra credit. Usage of props should be
consulted with the event manager before registration. Usage of any powdered substance(e.g.
colour,powder,glaal, etc) has to be informed to the event manager in advance
5. The number of teams selected for the finals directly from this round will depend on the
number of entries for the elimination round; and the decision lies completely with the judges
and the event managers.
6. The elimination round takes place completely before the judges only, behind closed doors.

7. No lead dancer or solo performance is allowed in any of the rounds.
8. Negative marks will be awarded on exceeding the time limit and exceeding the

1. More than one team is allowed per college, but only one can be an official entry.
2. If the other entries from that particular college win a position in the event, the points will not
be added to the total points of the college accumulated over the three days.
3. Colleges with multiple teams must specify which one of their multiple entries is the official

Elimination Round:
1. The eliminations will precede the main event, possibly on the same day.
2. Teams need to submit a copy of their write-up at the time of the elimination round.
3. Teams have to bring 2 CDs containing their music and video/PowerPoint tracks. One CD has to
be submitted at the time of the elimination round.
4. The elimination round is impromptu, based on the design of clothes to be
presented. Your choreography and soundtrack is irrelevant for this round. We
just need a preview of your line up.

Final Round:
1. Each team has to perform on one theme.
2. Emphasis will be given to clothing, walk, portrayal of theme and originality.
3. Total no of participants (whole team) should not exceed 18. All participants do not have to be
on stage at the same time. Minimum number of participants is 12. (Including the designer
and backstage helpers).
4. Backstage helpers should not exceed 5, two of whom must be present to provide cues for
music and light.
5. Use of water, fire and any kind of fireworks (party poppers included) in any form on stage will
result in disqualification.
6. Points will be deducted for any display of vulgarity or dance movements on stage.

RULES :
1. Registration begins on Day 0 [Inauguration Day]. Candidates will be provided with
registration/application forms from Day 0 which will be available till 10:59 pm on Day 1 at all
strategic places. Online registration option would be there on Waves 2014 website.
2. Candidates should submit their completed registration / application forms before 10:59 pm
on Day 1 preferably with a photograph. Same can be done online before coming to the fest.
3. 1st round would comprise of Personal interview and Group discussions.

4. Candidates shortlisted for the next round would be subjected to a series of informal tasks
[like a pledge-board full of tasks] spanning over 24 hours continuously. The entire list of tasks
will be provided beforehand and may be accomplished at the candidates own pace and
comfort.
5. The validity of all the tasks needs to be witnessed by an Organizer. A number of organizers
shall be available at all times.

6. Candidates who gain maximum number of points in the tasks allotted shall be selected for
the final round which shall take place in the Auditorium at Day 3
7. The finale will consist of a number of challenges. Participants will be evaluated and
eliminated based on their personality, talent, appeal, wit, humour and presence of mind
during various rounds.

8. Rounds will be of the likes of ramp walk, question-answer, group interactions, tasks and some
other surprise elements.
9. The most enigmatic duo would deserve the title of Mr & Ms Waves.
10. Organisers/ Judges decision would be final.
