B. Tech Project: August2009-2010

Guide : Mr. Raisul Hasan (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering)

Title: Electricity Generation using speed breakers.

Hardware development: Designed and fabricated a scaled model of energy convertor. The system
consists of a rack and pinion arrangement which converts vertical motion of platform attached to
the speed breaker due to its repeated loading and unloading into rotary motion. The pinion in turns
rotates the shaft of an electric generator. The power generated is stored in a capacitor which can be
used as per requirement. The proposed system can be used for lightning of roads
