Pakistans new Parliament sworn in
Fourteen years after his last stint as a parliamentarian, Prime Ministerdesignate Nawaz Sharif 1st June 2013 returned to Pakistans National
Assembly, taking oath with other lawmakers in the first democratic
transition of power in the countrys 66-year history. Sahrif along with the
parliamentarians was administered the oath by outgoing National Assembly
Speaker Fehmida Mirza .

Justice Kaul takes oath as new CJ of Punjab & Haryana high court

On 1st June 2013,Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul took oath as the new Chief
Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chindigarh. Justice Kaul
was administered the oath of office by Haryana Governor Jagannath
Pahadia at a ceremony held at Haryana Raj Bhavan. Justice Kaul, 54,
earlier served as the senior most judge of the Delhi High Court and was the
acting Chief Justice there in September last year.

On 3 June 2013, fire raged through a poultry plant in north eastern China
,Jilin provinces Mishazi township trapping workers inside a cluttered
slaughterhouse and killing at least 119 people.Another 54 persons are
injured.Jilin Baoyuanfeng produces 67,000 tons of processed chicken per
year and employs about 1,200 people. The plant is located outside the city of
Dehui, about 800 kilometers (250 miles) northeast of Chinas capital,
Beijing.Established in 2009, the company serves markets in 20 cities
nationwide and has won numerous awards for its contribution to the local
economy, according to introductions posted online.

Charan Das Mahant as acting president of the partys Chhattisgarh

On 3 June More than 65 countries of the world signed signed the Arms
Trade Treaty and the United States announced it will sign soon.The treaty
will require countries that ratify it to establish national regulations to
control the transfer of conventional arms and components and to regulate
arms brokers, but it will not control the domestic use of weapons in any
country. It prohibits the transfer of conventional weapons if they violate
arms embargoes or if they promote acts of genocide, crimes against
humanity or war crimes.

Nawaz Sharif sworn in as Pakistan PM
On 5 June 2013,PML-N leader Nawaz Sharief sworn in as 27 Prime Minister
to Pakistan. He became the first person to serve as prime minister for a third
term. Mr Sharif received 244 votes in the 342-seat parliament and
Makhdoom Javed Hashmi received 31 votes while Makdhoom Amin Fahim
received a total of 42 votes.In 1999 Pakistan former PM Prevez Musharaf
revolt on government, so he lost the PM post. After 14 years now he elected

First all-women police station opens in Arunachal Pradesh
On 4 June 2013 the first all-women police station in Arunachal Pradesh has
started functioning in Itanagar to specifically deal with crimes against
women.The plan to set up the maiden all-women police station was mooted

US exempted India & Eight Other Countries for Importing Oil from Iran

On 6 June United States exempted India and eight other countries from
sanctions for importing oil from Iran, noting that these countries have
significantly reduced their dependence on Iranian oil in the last six
months.US Secretary of State John Kerry announced ,India, China,
Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey,
and Taiwan have qualified for an exception to sanctions under Americas

ICMR Award for IICT scientist
Prof Upadhyayulu Satyanarayana Murty, chief scientist and head, Biology
division of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad has
won the ICMR prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Under Developed
Areas for the year 2010.Dr Murthy has been conferred with the award for
his contribution in the area of Integrated Control of Vectors and Vector
borne diseases like Malaria, Filariasis and Japanese Encephalitis in North
Eastern states of India. The award carries a citation and cash prize of
`20,000 to be presented by Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Health and

mission yet, space officials said on 10 June 2013, as the country works
towards building a space station.The Shenzhou-10 the name means
Divine Vessel will be launched on a Long March rocket on 11 June

RBI penalises ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank for violating KYC
norms

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed penalties on Axis Bank, HDFC
Bank and ICICI Bank for violating guidelines related to know your
customer (KYC) rules. The RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs5 crore on Axis
Bank, Rs4.5 crore on HDFC Bank and Rs1 crore on ICICI Bank.During
March and April 2013, RBI said it investigated scrutiny of accounts,
compliance systems, internal control and processes of these banks from the
private sector at their corporate offices and braches. The investigation
revealed violation of certain regulations and instructions including :- nonobservance of certain safeguards in respect of arrangement of at par
payment of cheques drawn by cooperative banks. non-adherence to certain
aspects of know your customer (KYC) norms and anti-money laundering
(AML) guidelines like risk categorisation and periodical review of risk

On 16 June 2013 AirAsia announced that Ratan Tata, the ex-chairman of
the Tata Group was appointed as the Chief Advisor of AirAsias India board.
In the meanwhile, Mittu Chandilya was named as the CEO of the AirAsia
India. Ratan Tata paved the way for creating joint venture between AirAsia,

Americas fastest-supercomputer reign has ended, toppled by the Tianhe-2
out of Chinas National University of Defense Technology. Tianhe-2 achieved
33.86 petaflop/s on the Linpack benchmark, earning it the title of the
worlds fastest supercomputer in the world, according to the 41st edition of
the twice-annual Top500 List. Tianhe-2, also known as the Milky Way-2, will
be deployed at the National Supercomputer Center in Guangzho, China by
the end of 2013 two years ahead of its expected deployment. The
machines achievement marks Chinas first No. 1 crown since Nov. 2010,
when Tianhe-1A was the top system.

Powers 850 mw Ratle hydro-electric power plant on the River Chenab in
Jammu and Kashmir.The 850 MW Ratle project, which is the nations first
hydroelectric project that was bid out through tariff based international
competitive bidding, will cost Rs 5,500 crore.The project was awarded to
GVK Power which offered the lowest tariff for generating power.

Beijing.State Councilor and Special Representative Yang Jiechi and Indian
National Security Adviser and Special Representative Shiv Shankar Menon
attended the boundary talks, exchanging ideas for solving border problems

Former Union Minister Bhavna Chikhalia Died
Former Union minister of state and the first woman to get elected to the
Lower House (Lok Sabha) from Gujarat for four consecutive terms, Bhavna
Chikhalia died on 28 June.She was union minister of state for tourism,
culture and parliamentary affairs from 1998-2003 in the NDA government
headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee. She was also the chairperson of the
Railway Convention Committee from 1999-02.Bhavnaben Chikhalia first got
elected to the Lok Sabha from 1991, before registering victories again in
