An Intelligent Pumping System

That Is Easy to Use
The Flowserve IPS Tempo is pre-engineered
specifically for pumps, making the benefits of variable
frequency drive (VFD) technology more accessible to
pump users. By incorporating pump-specific system
optimization software*, an industrial grade AC drive and
intuitive menu-driven user interface*, IPS Tempo offers
protection, reliability and ease of use not possible
with other variable frequency drives. Most importantly,
IPS Tempo enables end users to lower their total cost
of pump ownership.

Pump Optimization and Protection

in a Fraction of the Time
With immensely complex manuals and hundreds of different
programmable parameters, the set-up and configuration of
a typical variable frequency drive is a daunting task. Even
experienced users require considerable time to set up a
standard AC drive.
Thats not the case with IPS Tempo. With the most common
pump-specific parameters (capacity, head, etc.) built in and
its pump-specific Quick-Start set-up wizard, a typical user
can configure IPS Tempo in less than 30 minutes a fraction
of the time it would take to set up a typical VFD. That means
easier, faster and more reliable implementation.

Process Control

Condition Monitoring and Control

Users can utilize the process control function to adjust motor

speed to maintain a user-established set point. In doing so,
IPS Tempo can optimize plant output and pump availability.
Process control parameters include:

IPS Tempo also can monitor four condition variables for

advanced system control. An analog input can monitor one
additional external sensor against a signal level set point
(e.g., vibration threshold point[s]) or against a signal range
set point (e.g., min/max temperature range). Additionally,
IPS Tempo can monitor up to three limit switches via three
digital inputs. IPS Tempo can vary pump speed as specified
by the user and alert operators of the condition.

Mounting the IPS Tempo, Grounding and
Determining Wire Routing Locations
This chapter provides information that must be considered when
planning an IPS Tempo installation and provides IPS Tempo
mounting information. Installation site requirements, IPS Tempo
requirements and wiring requirements are presented.
ATTENTION: Only qualified electrical personnel familiar with
the construction and operation of this equipment and the
hazards involved should install, adjust, operate or service this
equipment. Read and understand this manual and other
applicable manuals in their entirety before proceeding. Failure
to observe this precaution could result in severe bodily injury
or loss of life.
ATTENTION: Use of power correction capacitors on the output
of the IPS Tempo can result in erratic operation of the motor,
nuisance tripping and/or permanent damage to the IPS Tempo.
Remove power correction capacitors before proceeding.
Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to
or destruction of the equipment.
ATTENTION: The user is responsible for conforming with all
applicable local, national and international codes. Failure to
observe this precaution could result in damage to or
destruction of the equipment.

6.1 General Requirements for the Installation Site

It is important to properly plan before installing an IPS Tempo
to ensure that the environment and operating conditions are
satisfactory.
Note that no devices are to be mounted behind the IPS Tempo.
If air-cooled devices are mounted near the unit, the hot air exhaust
may raise the ambient temperature level above what is allowed for
safe operation.

6.1.1 Verifying Power Module Input Ratings Match

Available Power
IPS Tempos are suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering a
maximum of 200 000 rms symmetrical amperes and a maximum
of 600 volts (nominal).
ATTENTION: To guard against personal injury and/or
equipment damage caused by improper fusing or circuit
breaker selection, use only the recommended line fuses/circuit
breakers specified in section 4.4.

6.1.1.1 Unbalanced or Ungrounded Distribution Systems

ATTENTION: IPS Tempos contain protective MOVs and
common mode capacitors that are referenced to ground.
These devices should be disconnected if the IPS Tempo is
installed on an ungrounded distribution system. To guard
against IPS Tempo damage, these devices should be
disconnected if the IPS Tempo is installed on an ungrounded
distribution system where the line-to-ground voltages on any
phase could exceed 125 percent of the nominal line-to-line
voltage. Failure to observe this precaution could result in
damage to or destruction of the equipment.
ATTENTION: To avoid electrical shock hazard, verify that
the voltage on the bus capacitors has discharged before
removing/installing jumpers. Measure the DC bus voltage
between the +DC terminal and the -DC terminal of the power
terminal block. The voltage must be zero.
For ungrounded distribution systems, disconnect the MOVs and
common mode capacitors by removing or disconnecting the
jumper(s) shown in Figure 6.1.

The area behind the IPS Tempo must be kept clear of all control
and power wiring. Power connections may create electromagnetic
fields that may interfere with control wiring or components when
run in close proximity to the IPS Tempo.
Read the following recommendations before continuing with the
IPS Tempo installation.

transformer, the cable between the transformer and the drive or
an additional transformer or reactor.

6.1.1.3 AC Input Phase Selection for Single Phase

Operation (Frames 5 and 6 Only)
ATTENTION: Ensure that all power to the IPS Tempo has been
removed before performing the following. Failure to follow this
precaution could result in a shock hazard.
ATTENTION: DC bus capacitors retain hazardous voltages after
input power has been removed. After disconnecting input
power, wait five minutes for the DC bus capacitors to
discharge and then check the voltage with a voltmeter to
ensure the DC bus capacitors are discharged before touching
any internal components. Failure to observe this precaution
could result in severe bodily injury or loss of life.
Moving the Line Type jumper shown in Figure 6.2 will allow
single- or three-phase operation.
Important: When selecting single-phase operation, input power
must be applied to the R (L1) and S (L2) terminals only. Refer to
Figure 2.2 and Table 2.5 for the terminal block location and Figure
5.2 for the terminal layout.
Note: Single-phase operation requires derating the IPS Tempo to
50 percent of its rate current.

6.1.2 Making Sure Environmental Conditions are Met

Frame 6 Transformer Tap Access

ATTENTION: Ensure that all power to the IPS Tempo has been
removed before performing the following. Failure to follow this
precaution could result in a shock hazard.
ATTENTION: DC bus capacitors retain hazardous voltages after
input power has been removed. After disconnecting input
power, wait five minutes for the DC bus capacitors to
discharge and then check the voltage with a voltmeter to
ensure the DC bus capacitors are discharged before touching
any internal components. Failure to observe this precaution
could result in severe bodily injury or loss of life.

Important: Failure to meet the following conditions may result in

erratic operation and/or IPS Tempo damage.
Before deciding on an installation site, consider the following
guidelines:

Step 1. Locate the small metal tab at the bottom of the end block.

Verify that NEMA 1 enclosure IPS Tempos can be kept clean

and dry.
The area chosen should allow the space required for proper air
flow as defined in section 6.1.3.
Be sure that the NEMA 1 enclosure is installed away from oil,
coolants or other airborne contaminants.
Do not install the IPS Tempo above 1000 meters (3300 feet)
without derating output power. For every 91.4 meters (300 feet)
above 1000 meters (3300 feet), derate the output current
1 percent.
Verify that the IPS Tempo location will meet the environmental
conditions specified in Appendix A.

Step 2. Press the tab in and pull the top of the block out. Repeat
for next block if desired.

6.1.3 Minimum Mounting Clearances

The transformer is located behind the Power Terminal Block shown

in Figure 6.2. Access is gained by releasing the terminal block from
the rail. To release terminal block and change tap:

Step 3. Select appropriate transformer tap.

Step 4. Replace block(s) in reverse order.

101.6 mm
(4.0 in.)

Be sure there is adequate clearance for air circulation around the

enclosure. For best air movement, do not mount IPS Tempos
directly above each other. Note that no devices are to be mounted
behind the IPS Tempo. This area must be kept clear of all control
and power wiring. Refer to Figure 6.3 for recommended air
flow clearances.

Figures 6.8 and 6.9 show the wire routing, grounding terminal and
power terminal blocks of the IPS Tempos.
ATTENTION: Do not route signal and control wiring with
power wiring in the same conduit. This can cause interference
with IPS Tempo operation. Failure to observe this precaution
could result in damage to or destruction of the equipment.
Do not route more than three sets of motor leads through a
single conduit. This will minimize cross-talk that could reduce the
effectiveness of noise reduction methods. If more than three IPS
Tempo/motor connections per conduit are required, shielded cable
must be used. If possible, each conduit should contain only one
set of motor leads.

(Frame 2 Shown)
Figure 6.8 Wire Routing and Terminal Block Locations
(Frame 2 Shown)

ATTENTION: Unused wires in conduit must be grounded at

both ends to avoid a possible shock hazard caused by induced
voltages. Also, if an IPS Tempo sharing a conduit is being
serviced or installed, all IPS Tempos using this conduit should
be disabled to eliminate the possible shock hazard from crosscoupled motor leads. Failure to observe these precautions
could result in bodily injury.

This is the safety ground for the IPS Tempo that is required by
code. This point must be connected to adjacent building steel
(girder, joist), a floor ground rod or bus bar. Grounding points
must comply with national and local industrial safety regulations
and/or electrical codes.

Shield Termination - SHLD

The SHLD terminal located on the cable entry plate provides
a grounding point for the motor cable shield.
The motor cable shield should be connected to this terminal
(IPS Tempo end) and the motor frame (motor end). A shieldterminating cable gland may also be used.

6.4 Grounding the IPS Tempo

ATTENTION: The user is responsible for conforming with all
applicable local, national and international codes. Failure to
observe this precaution could result in damage to or
destruction of the equipment.
The IPS Tempo Safety Ground - PE terminal must be connected
to system ground. Ground impedance must conform to the
requirements of national and local industrial safety regulations and/
or electrical codes. The integrity of all ground connections should
be periodically checked.

When shielded cable is used for control and signal wiring, the
shield should be grounded at the source end only, not at the
IPS Tempo end.

RFI Filter Grounding

ATTENTION: Using an optional RFI filter may result in relatively
high ground leakage currents. Therefore, the filter must only be
used in installations with grounded AC supply systems and be
permanently installed and solidly grounded (bonded) to the
building power distribution ground. Ensure that the incoming
supply neutral is solidly connected (bonded) to the same
building power distribution ground. Grounding must not rely on
flexible cables and should not include any form of plug or
socket that would permit inadvertent disconnection. Some local
codes may require redundant ground connections. The integrity
of all connections should be periodically checked. Failure to
observe this precaution could result in damage to equipment,
severe bodily injury or loss of life.

For installations within a cabinet, a single safety ground point or

ground bus bar connected directly to building steel should be
used. All circuits including the AC input ground conductor should
be grounded independently and directly to this point/bar.

Features
Acceleration/Deceleration
Accel/Decel settings provide separate adjustments to allow either
setting to be adjusted from 0.0 seconds to 3600.0 seconds. A
second set of remotely selectable Accel/Decel settings is accessible
through digital inputs. Programming capability allows the user to
produce acc/dec profiles with linear or "S-Curve" characteristics
that provide changing accel/decel rates. S-Curve profiles are
adjustable.

Adjustments
The digital interface is used for all set-up, operation and
adjustment settings. All adjustments are stored in nonvolatile
memory (EEPROM). No potentiometer adjustments are used.
The drive provides EEPROM memory for factory default values
and user stored drive configurations.

Auto Economizer
This feature automatically reduces the output voltage when the
drive is at a constant speed and partial load. The voltage is reduced
to minimize flux current in a lightly loaded motor thus reducing kW
usage. If the load increases, the drive will automatically return to
normal operation.

Auto / Manual Mode

The Operator Interface Module (OIM) shall have the ability to
switch between Auto (remote signals) and Manual (local control
form the OIM buttons) for both speed reference and start control.
Auto / Manual transfer of either speed reference, start control, or
both, shall be programmable. The feature shall be compatible with
both two-wire and three-wire digital input run / start assignments.
The user has the choice of preloading the OIM with the current
auto frequency reference before transferring control to allow for
smooth transitions without speed jumps.

If applications require additional braking, the 7th IGBT is capable

of driving an externally mounted resistor cage that can provide
maximum DB capability up to the drives rating. Resistor protection
for external cages shall reside in the cage itself.
Flux Braking
The drive can provide additional braking power by eliminating
additional regenerative energy as flux in the motor. This can be
used during all decelerations including stopping.
Fast Braking
The drive can provide additional stopping power by using advanced
slip control and eliminating additional regenerative energy as in the
motor. This can be used for stopping actions.

Bus Regulation:
DC Bus regulation is available to reduce the possibility of drive
overvoltage trips due to regenerative conditions. The drives
reaction to a Bus voltage increase is programmable to one of
5 options.
Disabled: Faults the drive on Overvoltage Fault
Adjust Frequency: Adjusts the drives output frequency to
maintain bus voltage at a predetermined regulation level.
Dynamic Brake: Dissipates the excess energy on the bus
through the internal DB chopper and connected resistor.
Both DB 1st: Begins by actuating the dynamic brake.
If more response is needed, the drive will then adjust the
output frequency.
Both FRQ 1st: Begins by adjusting the output frequency.
If more response is needed, the drive will then actuate the
dynamic brake.
Two bus regulation levels are available and are accessible through
the digital inputs.

Auto Restart

Communications

The drive provides up to nine automatic fault reset and restarts

following a fault condition before locking out and requiring manual
restart. The automatic mode is not applicable to a ground fault,
shorted output faults and other internal microprocessor faults.
The time between restarts is adjustable from 0.5 seconds to
10 800.0 seconds.

DPI Peripheral Interface

The drive has a Drive Peripheral Interface (DPI), which allows up to
four independent peripherals to be connected to the drive at one
time. This protocol operates between 125K and 500k baud and
allows for connection to other networks via third party suppliers.
Connection and identification of DPI port addresses require no
user adjustments.

Braking Options
Dynamic Braking
The drives have either a standard or optional built in 7th IGBT for
use as a dynamic braking chopper. This IGBT can provide at least
100% braking torque on a continuous basis. Drives less than
30 HP, 480V also have an optional drive mounted dynamic
braking resistor for low level braking applications and interactive
software to protect the internally mounted resistor from abuse.
If the resistors duty cycle or power rating is exceeded, the drive
software manages the operation of the 7th IGBT to bring the
loading below the resistors maximum level.

Property of Flowserve

10-4

Communications Interface
The drive has the capability for either internally mounted or
externally mounted communications interface cards. Internal cards
use drive power and can operate at higher speeds. Externally
mounted cards are separately powered and connected to the drive
via a cable. The following are available:
DeviceNet
EtherNet/IP
ControlNet Coax
Others - Other open control and communication network interface
cards are available, including Profibus and Interbus-S, and
Modbus-RTU.

Control Mode

Limit Switch Inputs

Programming provides the ability to select Vector Control,

Sensorless Vector or V/Hz modes. The Vector Control and
Sensorless Vector modes use motor nameplate data plus motor
operating data such as IR drop, nominal flux current and flux up
time to tune the motor / drive for optimum torque performance.
The volts per hertz mode can be programmed for constant torque,
fan/pump curve or full custom patterns.

Digital inputs can be selected to accept end limit switches and

decel limit switches. When an end limit switch is opened, it will
stop the drive and not allow it to proceed past this switch. It can
operate in the reverse direction. When a decel limit switch is
opened, it will slow the drive to a preset speed in the direction
of travel but allow the normal reference speed in the opposite
direction.

All three modes can be used with an encoder feedback option for
tighter speed regulation.

Links (Parameter Linking)

Current Limit
Programmable current limit from .1 amps to 150% of drive rated
amps. Current limit is active for all drive states: accelerating,
constant speed and decelerating. Both the source of the current
limit value and the gain for responsiveness adjustment are
programmable. The drive employs PI regulation with an adjustable
gain for smooth transition in and out of current limit.

The drive includes the ability to link parameters to pass values to

other parameters. This provides additional flexibility for process or
machine control.

Memory Storage

Drives have the ability to reduce output speed based on load.

This assists with applications such as load sharing.

The drive stores the factory default settings in non-volatile memory

(EEPROM) so that the user can return the drive to a known state.
Additional memory storage locations in the drive, known as User
Sets, can also be stored in the drive's non-volatile memory. Three
User Set locations are offered. The user can name the sets per the
process / application and recall the configuration to active drive
memory as needed. These User Sets can also be activated
dynamically via digital inputs or communication networks.

Fault Memory

Motor Overload Protection

The last 16 fault codes with respective times are stored in

the fault buffer. In addition, information about the drives condition
at the time of the last fault such as operating frequency, output
current, dc bus voltage and 27 other status conditions are stored
at the time of fault. Information is maintained in the event of a
power loss. A power up marker is also provided at each power up
time to aid in analyzing fault data.

The drive will provide UL Listed Class 10 motor overload

protection to comply with N.E.C. Article 430. Overload protection
is speed sensitive and adjustable. To accommodate a variety of
motors with different speed range capabilities, the frequency at
which the overload begins to derate is programmable. Two
different levels of accumulated overload can be signaled as alarm
conditions, allow the user to adjust a process to eliminate an
overload trip. A parameter is available to directly read the level of
accumulated overload.

Droop Control

The last 16 alarm codes are also stored for additional

troubleshooting reference.

Flying Start
The drive is capable of determining the speed and direction of a
spinning motor and adjusts its output to "pick-up" the motor at the
rotating speed. This advanced feature can connect to a spinning
motor almost instantaneously. It does not rely on a slower speed
search algorithm.

Inertia Ride Through

The drive can respond to a loss of AC input power by adjusting the
output frequency to create a regenerative situation in the motor.
This regenerated energy recaptures the mechanical energy and
converts it to electrical energy to power the drive logic during the
power outage. This allows the drive to retain control of the motor
during the power outage. Performance is based on the amount of
system inertia and the length of the outage. The amount of voltage
drop required to trigger inertia ride through and the level at which
regulation occurs are both adjustable. Inertia Ride Through can be
enabled or disable via programming.

Process PID Control

The internal process PID regulator has proportional, integral and
derivative gain adjustments as well as error inversion and output
clamping functions. The feedback can be configured for normal or
square root functions. If the feedback indicates that the process is
moving away from the setpoint, the regulator will adjust the drive
output until the feedback equals the reference. Process control can
be enabled or disabled with a hardwired input. Transitioning in and
out of process control can be tuned for faster response by
preloading the integrator.
Protection is provided for a loss of feedback or reference signal.
A signal can also be provided to indicate that excess error exists.

Ride Through
The control logic is capable of "riding through" a power outage of
at least two seconds in duration. The inverter section is shut off
after an 18 percent drop in bus voltage to conserve power for the
drive logic. The ride-through method and trigger point are
adjustable by the user.

Scale Blocks

Sleep / Wake Mode

The drive includes four scale blocks which allow gain and offset
control of any analog value.

The Drive has the capability to use an analog input as a

Start - Stop command. This input can be a separate input or
also used as the speed reference. Signal level below the sleep
level acts as a Stop Command and signal level above the Wake
level acts as a Start Command. Sleep / Wake time and level are
fully programmable and can be inverted.

Speed Regulation
The programmable speed regulation modes include the following:
Open Loop
Slip Compensation with speed regulation from 0.1 percent to
0.5 percent depending on selected motor control mode
Encoder feedback control with speed regulation from
0.001 percent to 0.1 percent depending on selected motor
control mode
Process PID control

Test Points
Two electronic test point parameters are available to examine data
within the drive memory that is not available through other
parameters.

Torque Regulation

Skip Frequencies

The programmable torque regulation modes include the following:

Three adjustable set points that lock out continuous operation

at frequencies, which may produce mechanical resonance,
are provided. The set points have a bandwidth adjustable from
0 Hz to 60 Hz.

Encoderless control with +/-5% torque regulation.

Encoder feedback control with +/-2% torque regulation.

Start At Power Up
A user programmable restart function is provided to automatically
restart the equipment after restoration of power after an outage.
A maintained two-wire start input is required for this function.

Start Up Routines
Start up routines allow the user to commission the drive more
quickly and accurately.
Start Up routine to aid the user in commissioning the drive asking
simple Yes/No or Enter Data questions. The user is guided
through the Start Up to reduce the amount of time necessary
to get the drive up and running. The following are included
in start up:
Input Voltage Ratings
Motor Data
Motor Tests & Auto-tuning
Speed/Torque Control & Direction Limits
Speed Reference
Start & Stop Modes
Ramp setup
Digital and analog I/O
Auto-Tune is available independently or as a part of Start Up to aid
in setup of the Sensorless vector and Vector control algorithms.
Both a static (motor does not rotate) and a dynamic (motor
rotates) routine are available. If tuning is not desirable, the drive
can be instructed to calculate the values for tuning directly based
on entered motor data.

IPS Tempo Typical Applications

Typical Applications
Target Applications:
Any installation that utilizes VFD to increase efficiency or to
minimize required pump sizes.
Eliminate need for control valve
Eliminate need for motor starter
Can utilize maximum size impeller (i.e., no need for trim
impellers)
Operating RPM will be lowered which will increase life of
pumps wet end where abrasives are present
Tank Load-out Application
Utilization of the ASAM feature to maximize flow while at the
same time eliminate cavitation caused by insufficient NPSHa due
to low liquid levels or vortexiing at the end of the pump-out cycle.
Utilization of the Pump Power Monitor to guard against dry
running due to closed discharge or suction valve as well as allow
automatic shut-off of pump when tank is empty. Auto retry
feature can be engaged to make sure the tank is empty.
Multi Service Pump (multiple flow and head demand)
Optimize efficiency and pump availability due to utilization of
varying speed to meet system demand rather than control valve.
Utilization of Process Variable Protection to detect unexpected
system conditions such as change in process fluid or system
characteristics, loss of adequate suction, and / or equipment
failure or wear.
Mag Drive Pumps
Utilization of Pump Power Monitor to protect against dry running,
blocked suction, closed discharge or suction valves, mechanical
failure or wear
Utilization of Pump Condition Monitor to detect excessive
vibration, high temperature, high or low pressure or poor
lubrication health
Variable System Pumps (i.e., filtration system that causes
increasing TDH due to filter clogging)
Utilize Pump Power Monitor to alarm the end-user that the TDH
is approaching maximum acceptable limit
Utilize Process Variable Monitor to alarm the end user if the
process variable (pressure, flow) cannot be obtained even though
the maximum pump speed has been achieved

IPS Tempo Competitive Analysis

Competitive Analysis
There are other manufacturers who manufacture smart type
variable frequency drives (VFDs) for pump systems similar to the
IPS Tempo product (though not many as compared to the number
of VFDs on the market); they include Grundfos, ITT Goulds, ITT
Flytt, ITT Bell & Gosset. As time goes on, certainly the number
of competitors is expected to grow.
There are two considerations when trying to compare the IPS
Tempo to the competition. First, is the drive an industrial grade
drive designed for the process industry (reliability, cost, enclosure,
etc.)? Second, what features does the drive have with regards
to software (user interface design, ease of start-up, pump
optimization, control, and protection features)? Certainly, standard
VFDs (that are not designed specifically for pumps) can only
compare to the first category relating to the hardware design.
From a software perspective, IPS tempo wins hands down.
From the hardware prospective (when comparing to other smart
VFDs designed for pumps) IPS Tempo shares the same hardware
platform as the reliance GV6000 and Allen Bradley PF700. The
design is robust and cost competitive because only the required
hardware features, for industrial grade applications, have been
utilized in the hardware construction. Rather than focusing on
the other drives on the market and trying to negative sell,
Flowserve takes the position that the IPS Tempo, from a
hardware perspective, is what the industrial customer needs
in the process industry with regards to robustness and cost
competitiveness of the design.
From the software prospective, IPS Tempo is the most user
friendly drive on the market for pump applications. The user
menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. With regard to pump
system optimization programs, the IPS Tempo is designed to
increase the Mean Time Between Repair (MTBR) of pumping
systems. The monitors are designed specifically for pumps and
incorporate pump logic required to protect pumps from a multitude
of potential adverse operating conditions.

The two features that are unique for the IPS Tempo as compared
to the other smart drives on the market, designated for pumps,
are the Pump Power Monitor (PPM) and the Auto Set-point
Adjustment Monitor (ASAM):
PPM: This monitor is unique as it utilizes similar input information
as the Flowserve KW 941 PowerMonitor and has delay features
that are similar in operation. The user selects a standard speed
such as 1800 or 3600 rpm and inputs the minimum and maximum
acceptable brake horse power corresponding to the rpm. The IPS
Tempo has built-in programming (if this feature is selected) to vary
the selected minimum and maximum acceptable break horsepower,
based on the pump affinity laws. The competition (ITT Goulds
PumpSmart) requires the end-user to put in the BEP point and
then calculate a percentage of the BEP to set the min and max
levels. This method is not as user friendly and makes viewing the
actual brake hp and comparing to the min / max not as practical.
Also, it should be noted that the PumpSmart unit utilizes torque
in lieu of horsepower, which is not the universal power unit used
for pumps.
ASAM: The Auto Set-point Adjustment Monitor is a unique
program that Flowserve designed to enable the end-user to
incorporate pump curve properties, by means of a scalar routine,
that are used to control the speed of the pump so as to avoid
detrimental operating conditions or to optimize the pump
performance. Competitors such as ITT Goulds PumpSmart PS200
utilize different methods which are not as easy to implement and
are not as versatile. The IPS Tempo ASAM feature can be used to
optimize tank load-out applications or multiple pump operations.

Manual Override
Manual Override is an IPS Tempo feature that enables the end user
to manually take control of the IPS Tempo drive in lieu of allowing
the drive to operate in automated speed or process mode.
IPS Tempo logic allows the end-user to choose whether to keep
the IPS Tempo pump protection monitors enabled or disabled
while manual override is in effect.
ITT Goulds Pumpsmart has the manual override feature.
However, all PumpSmart protection monitors are disabled if
the drive is in manual override mode. This can be detrimental
to the pump.

Warranty Procedure
The warranty policy for the IPS Tempo will be similar to that of
other accessory items (Non-Flowserve Manufacture) that are sold
with standard pumps.
Customer Contact: The IPS Tempo User Manual (D2-3553)
instructs the customer to call the nearest Flowserve sales office
for technical assistance.

Procedure:
1. Flowserve sales must determine if the problem is with the IPS
Tempo Monitors (application, set-up, etc.) or if the problem is a
drive problem (hardware and/or electrical).
IPS Tempo Monitor assistance should be handled by the
local sales office with assistance, as required, from the
IPS Tempo Design Engineer.
Drive hardware and/or electrical problems should be directed
to the IPS Tempo Design Center. The Design Center will
contact Reliance Electric to get the customer in contact with
the drive specialist.
2. In the event that the customer feels as though the problem is
due to a manufacturing defect, which is covered under
warranty according to the terms and conditions of sale
agreement with the particular customer, the sales office:
a) Should get a return authorization number (RA#) from
Memphis Operations.
b) Send the (RA#) along with shipping instructions to the
customer.
c) Have the customer ship the IPS Tempo in question freight
pre-paid to the designated service center.
d) Obtain a Purchase Order for a new IPS Tempo drive if an
immediate replacement is required.
e) Obtain the inspection report from the designated service
center so that it can be determined if the original drive is in
fact covered by warranty.
If the original IPS Tempo is determined to have a
manufacturing defect, then a credit will be issued for
the original drive.
If the original IPS Tempo is determined to not have a
manufacturing defect, then the drive will be shipped
back to the customer, pre-paid, and the customer will
potentially own two IPS Tempo drives (the original plus
the replacement IPS Tempo).

WORLDWIDE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE

1. Applicability:
Except for the application of overriding General Terms Agreements previously executed between Buyer and Seller, any purchase order covering the sale of Sellers equipment or
services (Order) shall be governed solely by these Conditions of Sale and other written provisions mutually agreed upon. Any oral understandings are expressly excluded. Seller
shall not be deemed to have waived these Conditions of Sale if it fails to object to provisions appearing on, incorporated by reference in, or attached to Buyers Purchase Order

or addition to these Conditions of Sale shall be effective unless agreed to in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Buyer and Seller. Seller reserves the right to
reject any Order submitted for its acceptance.
2. Definitions:
Order means any purchase order covering the sale of Sellers equipment or services.
Equipment means all equipment and parts manufactured by Seller.
Buyer means the company who accepted Sellers offer or is named in the Purchase Order.

3. Delivery:
Delivery of the Equipment hereunder shall be made Ex-works (Incoterms 2000) Sellers plant. Shipping dates are approximate and are based on prompt receipt of all necessary
information at Sellers plant. In case of delay in furnishing complete information, dates of shipment may be extended for a reasonable time based on conditions at Sellers plant.
In the event Seller provides transport services these will be quoted as a lump sum price based on destination and shipping mode.

for a length of time equal to the period of the delay.
In the event Buyer requests a delay in completion and shipment of the Equipment or any part thereof for any reason, the parties shall agree upon any cost and/or scheduling
impact of such delay, with such costs to the account of Buyer. Any delay period beyond thirty (30) days after original scheduled shipment date shall require Buyer to take title
and risk of loss of such Equipment, thereafter to make arrangements for storage of such Equipment with the Seller or other party. Sellers invoice, which is contractually based
on shipment, shall be issued upon Sellers readiness to ship the original Equipment.
4. Warranty:
Nonconformance means failure to comply with, or failure to operate due to noncompliance with, applicable Seller drawings or having defects in workmanship or material.
Normal wear and tear, erosion, corrosion and the need for regular overhaul and periodic maintenance do not constitute a Nonconformance.
Seller warrants at time of shipment to Buyer its Equipment will comply with applicable Seller drawings and will be free from defects in workmanship and material. Any equipment
and parts supplied by Seller but manufactured by third parties carry the warranty that the manufacturer of such equipment and parts conveyed to Seller which can be passed on
to Buyer. These warranties run to the Buyer, its successors, assigns, and customers. Suppliers obligations under this warranty shall expire one (1) year from initial startup or
use of the Equipment or eighteen (18) months after shipment, whichever occurs first. Seller warrants that the Services shall be performed in accordance with industry practices.
Sellers warranty obligation for service work shall expire ninety (90) days from the date of the initial start-up or six (6) months after completion of the service work, whichever
occurs first.
Buyer must notify Seller in writing during the defects liability period of a Nonconformance and, within 30 calendar days of discovery of the Nonconformance.
Sellers obligation and Buyers sole remedy under this defects liability period is repair or replacement, at Sellers election, of any Equipment Nonconformance. All Equipment
repaired or replaced will be warranted only for the unexpired portion of the original defects liability period.
Seller agrees to repair or replace Ex-works Sellers plant any Equipment or part thereof manufactured by Seller which does not conform to the warranty for Equipment. Equipment
claimed to be defective must be returned, freight prepaid and allowed by Buyer and in accordance with Sellers instructions to the point of manufacture, unless Seller directs
otherwise. Title to and risk of loss of any equipment being repaired shall remain with Buyer at all times.
In connection with the performance of any corrective work, all removal and reinstallation of the Equipment shall be performed by Buyer at its expense. Buyer shall, at its expense,
be responsible for removing, reinstalling, replacing or supplying any equipment, materials or structures which are necessary to provide reasonable access to the Equipment to be
repaired or replaced. Any decontamination or radiation protection necessary in connection with the removal/reinstallation or on-site repair of the Equipment shall be performed
by Buyer without cost to Seller.
Seller will not be liable under this warranty if the Equipment has been exposed or subjected to any (1) maintenance, repair, installation, handling, packaging, transportation,
storage, operation or use which is improper or otherwise not in compliance with Sellers instructions; (2) alteration, modification or repair by anyone other than Seller or those
specifically authorized by Seller, (3) accident, contamination, foreign object damage, abuse, neglect or negligence after shipment to Buyer; (4) damage caused by failure of a
Seller supplied Product not under warranty or by any hardware or software not supplied by Seller; (5) use of counterfeit or replacement parts that are neither manufactured nor
approved by Seller for use in the Equipment; or (6) Equipment which is normally consumed in operation or which have normal life inherently shorter than the warranty period

THESE WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER WRITTEN, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT
NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, AND FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
5. Payment:

contract of purchase, Buyer agrees to pay all collection costs, attorney fees and expenses incurred in collecting payment, including interest on the amount due at the maximum
legal rate. All transportation, insurance and similar charges incident to delivery shall be paid by Buyer. Seller shall issue its invoice upon shipment, or upon notice to Buyer that
Seller is ready to ship, whichever is earlier. Depending on the value of the order, Seller may at its sole discretion require progress payments.
If Buyers financial condition is or becomes unsatisfactory to Seller, Seller reserves the right to: a) cancel shipment at any time prior to delivery of the Equipment without further
obligation or liability on the Sellers part (b) or require a letter of credit or other acceptable security before shipment.

Rev. 4 January 11, 2008

6. Changes:
Buyer may request modifications as to the amount, scope and/or nature of the Equipment to be supplied by a written change request. Buyer may also request modifications,
including but not limited to drawings, models, instructions, specifications, quantities, method of shipment, packing, place of delivery or delivery dates for the Equipment. If, in
the opinion of Seller, any modification will affect the agreed fixed price and/or time of delivery, Seller will notify Buyer thereof in writing and will not be obligated to perform any
modification unless agreed to by Seller. Buyer shall confirm that such change is authorized and accepted by issuing a Purchase Order revision.
7. Setoff:
All amounts that Buyer owes Seller under an Order shall be due and payable according to the terms of an Order. Buyer is prohibited from, and shall not set off such amounts or
any portion thereof, whether or not liquidated, against sums which Buyer asserts are due it, its parent affiliates, subsidiaries or other divisions or units under other transactions
with Seller, its parent affiliates, subsidiaries or other divisions or units.
8. Cancellation:
Buyer reserves the right to cancel any portion of an Order affected by a default of Seller or any insolvency or suspension of Sellers operations or any petition filed or proceeding
commenced by or against Seller under any state or federal law relating to bankruptcy, arrangement, reorganization, receivership or assignment for the benefit of creditors.
9. Non-Disclosure and Non-Use of Sellers Information:
Buyer agrees that it will not use Sellers data for the manufacture or procurement of products which are the subject of an Order or any similar products, or cause said products
to be manufactured by, or procured from, any other source or reproduce said data and information or otherwise appropriate them without the written authorization of the Seller.
Buyer agrees that it will not disclose or make available to any third-party any of Sellers data or other information pertaining to this Order which is proprietary to Seller without
obtaining Sellers prior written consent.
10. Patent Indemnity:
Except insofar as an Order calls for equipment pursuant to Buyers designs, drawings or specifications, Seller agrees to pay the amount of any final judgment against Buyer
resulting from a suit claiming that any commercial equipment manufactured or furnished hereunder, by reason of their manufacture, sale or use, infringes any United States
patent which has issued at date of an Order, and Buyers reasonable costs and expenses in defense of such suit if Seller does not undertake the defense thereof, provided Seller
is promptly notified of the threat or commencement of such suit and is offered full and exclusive control to conduct the defense or settlement thereof.
Sellers indemnity shall not apply where infringement would not have occurred from the normal use for which the equipment was designed. Sellers liability for damages hereunder
is limited to those computed solely on the value of any equipment sold to Buyer. In no event shall Seller be liable for consequential damages or costs applicable thereto. In the
event of any claim that equipment furnished hereunder infringes any United States patent, Seller may at its option and expense (a) procure for Buyer the right to continue using
the product, or (b) replace or modify the product so that it becomes non-infringing, or (c) grant Buyer a credit for such product, less a reasonable depreciation for use, damage,
and obsolescence upon its return to Seller. Buyer agrees to pay all costs and expenses incurred by Seller in its defense and the amount of any judgment against Seller, in any suit
or proceeding against Seller based upon a claim of infringement, resulting solely from the Buyer combining any equipment furnished hereunder with any item not manufactured
or furnished by Seller or from the sale or use of any such combination by Buyer. Seller shall also indemnify Buyers customers and agents for such infringement if, and to the
extent that, Buyer has agreed so to indemnify them, but to no greater extent than Seller has indemnified Buyer herein and under the same conditions as set forth herein. In the
event any equipment to be furnished under this Order is to be made in accordance with drawings, samples or manufacturing specifications designated by Buyer and is not the
design of Seller, Buyer agrees to defend, indemnity and hold Seller harmless to the same extent and subject to the same requirements as set forth in Sellers obligation to Buyer
as above. The above is in lieu of any other indemnity or warranty, express or implied by Seller, with respect to intellectual property (patents, trade secret, mask works, trademarks,
copyrights, or the like).
11. Special Tooling and Data:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all material, software, data processes, equipment, facilities and special tooling, which term includes but is not limited to jigs, dies, fixtures,
molds, patterns, special taps, special gages, special test equipment, other special equipment and manufacturing aids and replacements thereof, used in the manufacture of
products covered by an Order shall be and remains the property of Seller. Seller retains all rights, title and interest in drawings, engineering instructions, specifications, and all
other written data, if any, furnished with equipment.
12. Import Permit or License:
In the event an import permit or license is required by Buyers or End Users authorities for the Equipment sold hereunder, performance is subject to Sellers prior receipt of
evidence satisfactory to Seller that an appropriate import permit or license has been granted. As to any such permit or license Buyer shall advise Seller of the validity, number, date
of issue and whether the expiration date refers to clearance from the port of departure or arrival at the port of destination. Buyer assumes all responsibility for the procurement
thereof and any expenses incurred therein related to any import permit or license. In the event currency exchange controls exist in Buyers country, Buyer shall so state.
13. Export License:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Buyer shall be responsible for compliance with the export control laws and regulations of the U.S. Government or the jurisdiction where
Sellers manufacturing facility accepting the Order is located, and when required by such laws and regulations shall obtain export and re-export licenses required for goods,
services and technical data delivered under an Order. Seller shall not be liable to Buyer for any failure to provide goods, services or technical data as a result of any of the following
governmental actions: (1) refusal to grant export or re-export license; (2) cancellation of export or re-export license, or (3) any subsequent interpretation of the export laws and
regulations, after the date of an Order, that limits or has a material adverse effect on the cost of Sellers performance on an Order. Sellers performance hereunder is subject to
Sellers prior receipt of evidence satisfactory to Seller that an appropriate export license has been granted. If Seller assists in obtaining any export license, Buyer shall reimburse
Seller for all expenses.
14. Taxes:
Sellers price does not include, and Seller is not responsible for, payment of any tax levied for sales, use, excise, value-added, goods and services, business (franchise or privilege)
or any duties, charges or other such taxes. Seller is only responsible for any tax imposed on Seller, by taxing authorities in Sellers jurisdiction, which are based on Sellers
revenue, income, net income, net assets, net worth, or capital or any taxes imposed in lieu thereof. Seller accepts sole responsibility and liability for the payment of any and all
contributions or taxes for unemployment insurance, social security payments, or other assessments for those persons performing work for Seller hereunder. If Seller is required
to pay any taxes or other charges that are the responsibility of the Buyer, then Buyer shall promptly reimburse Seller those amounts.
15. Assignment:
Neither party shall assign an Order or any portion thereof without the advance, written consent of the other party, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld. The nonassigning party shall not have any obligation to an assignee of the assigning party unless such consent is obtained.

Rev. 4 January 11, 2008

16. Waiver:
Failure by Seller to assert all or any of its rights upon any breach of an Order shall not be deemed a waiver of such rights either with respect to such breach or any subsequent
breach, nor shall any waiver be implied from the acceptance of any payment of service. No waiver of any right shall extend to or affect any other right Seller may possess, nor
shall such waiver extend to any subsequent similar or dissimilar breach.
17. Severability:
If any portion of these Conditions of Sale is determined to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, for any reason, then such provision shall be deemed stricken for purposes of the
dispute in question and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Disputes:
Except as otherwise specifically agreed in writing by Buyer and Seller, any dispute relating to an Order placed by a Buyer incorporated in the United States which is not resolved
by the parties shall be adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction in the state of Texas. For Orders placed by a Buyer incorporated outside the United States, the parties shall
resort to binding arbitration under mutually agreed procedures.
