EN ISO 15614-1 : 2004

The tensile strength of the test specimen shall not be less than the corresponding specified minimum value for the
parent metal unless otnerwiso specified orlor to testing.
For dissimilar parent metal Joints the tensile strenoth shall not to be less than the minimum value specified for the
parent material having the lowest tensile ::trengi l ,

7.4.3 Bend test

Specimens and testing for bend testing lor butt joints shall be in accordance with EN 910.
For thicknesses < '12 rmn two root and two face bend lest 51 .ecirnors shall be tested. For thicknesses 212 mm : ':r
side bend specimens are recommended instead of root aId 'aco bend tests.
For dissimilar metal joints or heterogeneous butt joint rn plates, one root and one face longitudinal bend test
specimen may be used instead 0/ four transverse bend tests.
The diameter of the former or the inner roller shall be 4/ and the bending angle shall be 180' for parent metal with
elongation A 2 ?O %. For parent metal with elongation A < 20 % the Iollowirq formula shall be applied:

d=

(fOO~_(
A

where

d is the diametr of the

Iorrnor or tl Inr.c-" roller

t, is the thickness 01 .he bend test spec.men

A is the minimum {ensile elongation requir d by the material specification
During testing, the test specimens shallnot "Neal anyone single flaw> 3 mrn in any riirection. Flaws appearing at
the corners of a test specirnen during testing shi.i11 be ignored in the evaluation.

Macros.::opi(~

examination

The test specimen shall be prepared and etc.od in accordance willr Ei, i321 un on" side to clearly reveat u.e
fusion line, the HAZ and the buiid up 01 tllu runs.
The macroscopic-examination "hall include unalloeted parent metal and I'hall be recorded by at least one macroreproduction per procedure ;OSt.
The acceptance levels shall be in accordance '.:

specimens.
Specimens with Charpy v-notch shall be used and sampled from a maximum of ;, mrn below the surface of the
parent metal ami transverse to the weld.
In the HAZ the notch shall be at 1 mm to 2 mm from the fusion line and in the weld metal the notch shall be at the
weld centreline.
