Sandwich panel systems

Choose a lightweight sandwich

panel system it adapts precisely
to your needs
Our Panel 3Lock lightweight element is a sandwich
panel with a mineral wool core. It is particularly
suitable for use in facades with high requirements
for thermal insulation, fire resistance, strength, speed
of installation, and superior appearance. The 3Lock
tongue and groove joint locks the seams between
panels together extremely tightly and makes the
seam resistant to deformation.
The lightweight sandwich panel can be used not only
in walls and facades but also in compartmenting
structures, partition walls and ceilings. Typical
applications are industrial and commercial buildings,
sports facilities, warehouses and power plants. The
panel is also suitable for use in construction for the
food industry and for demanding clean room applications.

Cost-effective business concept

Ruukkis business concept and sandwich panel system
form a versatile, all-embracing package you decide on
the scope and contents, including services, according to
your needs. If you wish, we will take on full responsibility
for a project, so that you do not need to negotiate with
several different parties. If required, we can be involved
from the design stage right through to the finished wall
and faade.

Total Solution

The scope of a total solution with the Panel 3Lock

sandwich panel system is decided on a case by
case:
- external and partition walls
- compartmenting structures
- cladding
- ceilings
- glass facades
- installation fittings
- design
- additional structures
(eg. windows, doors and blinds)

Benefits of the lightweight

sandwich panel systems for you

Delivery

Versatility
The versatility of the sandwich panel enables a wide
range of architectural solutions. The long spans and
variety of surface patterns, the choice of horizontal,
vertical or diagonal installation, the extensive selection of flashings and wide range of colours together
these give designers a wealth of possibilities.

Strength and quality

The excellent strength and rigidity properties enable
long spans. The strength of the panels means they can
be used in the wall and faade even of high buildings.
The high, consistent quality of the sandwich panel is a
benefit for the client. The panel system has been studied
and tested and is subject to authorized quality control.
The mineral wool used in the panels means that even
thin panels give excellent thermal insulation. The panels
also absorb noise well.

Ease of installation
When premises are needed for use quickly, the
sandwich panel system is a safe and simple solution, as
it is so quick to install. The tight seam structure also
means high quality when installing the panels
vertically. The lightweight structure gives savings in
costs for the foundation, frame and installation.

Fire-resistance
The tongue and groove joint, with its resistance to
deformity, gives the Panel 3Lock sandwich panel a
tight and fire-resistant structure. The non-combustible
surface material also protects other structures, so that
fire does not spread. The panels can be used to create
structures that meet very high fire requirements.

and diagonally

For the lifting stages of the installation work we hire

out a patented CE-marked lifting tool. The lifting tool
can be used for installing elements of different
thickness in the horizontal position. We have another
special lifting tool for lifting the panels when the
lifting tool cannot be attached to the tongue and
groove joint, for example when installing panels in the
vertical position and for panels that have been cut.

Further technical details

The typical span for a faade is 5-8 m and for partition

walls in vertical installation about 9 m. The panel is
lightweight, weighing only 18-35 kg/m2. manufactureng
tolerances: effective width 1200 mm 2 and length 5
Sandwich corner panel

Separate corner panels that highlight the appearance of

the wall can be manufactured for the external and
internal corners of buildings. The corner panel can be
adapted for all panel types and thicknesses. The angle of
corner is 90. The surface patterns for corner panels are
the same as for other sandwich panel elements.
