Procedure
ACTIVITY I Warmer Five things (team work)
Aims: - to warm Ss. up;
- to engage Ss. in using the English language;
Time: 5 min.
Procedure: Two teams are formed. Each team chooses a number from 1 to five. Each
number represents a category. Each team must think of five things which belong to that
category. The team who finishes first gets a point and each correct thing means 1 point.
e.g.. Things that: 1.can fly, 2. move fast, 3. you keep cold, 4. make a lot noise, 5. can be
full or empty.

ACTIVITY II - Reinforcing and checking the previous knowledge Can you?
(pair work)
Aim: - to practice asking and answering what they can / cant do
Time: 10 min.
Procedure: Pairs are made. The teacher gives each pair Worksheet 1. They must ask
each other questions to find out whether they can or cant do the activities shown in the
pictures. Answers are checked with the class.

PRACTICE
ACTIVITY III Talent teams (whole class)
Aim: - to practice asking / answering about what they can do.
Time: 30min.
Procedure: The object of the game is for the class to group themselves into four
groups, by finding the other people described on their TEAM CARD. The students get
a talent picture (Worksheet3) and a team card (Worksheet 2). They must walk around
the classroom asking other students Can you.? questions.
e.g. Can you cook? The players can answer Yes, I can. or No, I cant cook but I
can sail a boat! Can I join your castaways team?

When they find someone who has one of the abilities described on the card, they should
join together and go in search of more people to join their team. When everyone has
joined a team, the teacher asks the four teams to go to different corners of the room. The
teacher asks each team to describe their abilities of the person standing next to them.
e.g. He can make furniture. She can spin and weave. The other teams must guess
what the team does.
e.g. You are the castaways team.
The winner is the team that gets together first.

ACTIVITY IV Evaluation & Homework assignment
Aim: - to evaluate the Ss. work
- to assign Ss. their homework
Time: 5 min
Procedure: After completing the tasks, the teacher grades some students.
As homework the students are asked to draw a poster with the abilities of their team.
