Ideas are dangerous things.

In the case of a highly traditional ritualized religious system, ideas

can be very dangerous indeed.
Just under 2000 years ago, a Jewish sage walked through the streets of Jerusalem.
He came to proclaim freedom from the systems of man.
He came to proclaim salvation and healing for the eternally lost.
He came to demonstrate a divine perspective within the context of mutative human darkness, and
in a politically horrifying act, this sage invited the most neglected and marginalized of human
society to join Him, His Father, and some kind of Holy Spirit in an eternal other-world type of
relationship.
This sage became a problem for religious authorities.
The authorities were men of hyper ego-driven perspectives with limited earthly power.
The Roman Empire ruled Israel, and the Jewish religious authorities knew that a man
proclaiming non-involvement, meekness, and other-worldliness just wouldnt do.
They may have had 1/8th of of a slice of the political power pie there in Israel, but they
coveted the illusion of power and they intended to do whatever it took to keep their place in
Jewish society.
So the religious leaders concocted a scheme, paid off a traitor, and got the sage in front of a
fraudulent court.
What did the sage do when arrested, charged, and tried for blasphemy?
Nothing.
He didnt call His congressman.
He didnt call his state representative.
He didnt call the governor.
He didnt call the Jerusalem newspaper.
He didnt Tweet, Facebook, or Instagram a plea for support for His freedom.
He didnt start an internet campaign.
He didnt hire a lawyer.

He didnt phone a friend.

He didnt call his mom.
He didnt vote.
He didnt vote.
He didnt protest.
He didnt riot.
He didnt try to escape.
AND
During His trial He didnt even try to defend Himself.
Yesterday Election Day fever infected America. American hyper-patriotism leapt from every
street-sign clad intersection to every politically charged social media post.
Yesterday I, and several others chose to accept Gods call to present an alternative perspective,
and even up until 24 minutes ago American Christian citizens, still rabid from the effects of their
political infection have assaulted our message with WWF-Hulk Hogan inspired tenacity.
Heres the thing
Im not writing this to complain.
In fact, I feel blessed to be able see God glorified in the midst of the hate filled messages spewed
from the digital lips of many who claim to follow Christ.
I am writing this to ask you to reflect for a moment.
In a country supposedly founded on respect for alternative viewpoints and the opportunity for all
people to have a say in the American cultural paradigm; how was it that the groups so attached to
the constitution, bill of rights, and founding fathers so quickly rushed to attack a few disciples of
Christ who attempted to speak life and freedom into a world dominated by the corruption of
men?
Ohhh Yeah (Yeah I know that was Macho-Man Randy Savage and not Hulk Hogan)
And I am writing this to ask you to reflect on one more thing.
What was it that you were offended at?

Could it be that just like those religious leaders nearly 2000 years ago, you felt the weight your
earthly power slipping through your outstretched fingers, and before the reality of what you have
invested your money, time, trust, heart, and life into was finally dragged into the light of
examination to be shown for what it truly is; you attacked?
So what was it that offended you then?
Could it be, that it had nothing to do with us or anything we said, but rather God?
