The Sun
is the star at the center of the Solar System.

MM723
It consists of hot plasma interwoven
with magnetic fields. It has
a diameter of about 1,392,684 km, about
109 times that of Earth, and its mass
(about 21030 kilograms, 330,000 times
that of Earth). Chemically, about three
quarters of the Sun's mass consists
of hydrogen, while the rest is
mostly helium. The remainder (1.69%)
consists of heavier elements,
including oxygen, carbon,neon and iron,
among others.

Life phases
The sun today is roughly halfway through the most stable part
of its life, has not changed dramatically for several billion years,
and will remain similar for several more. However, before and
after this spell as a stable star burning hydrogen in its core, a
star is a very different object.

Earth

Earth is the third planet from the Sun,

and the densest and fifth-largest of the
eight planets in the Solar System. It is
sometimes referred to as the world, or
the Blue Planet.
Earth formed approximately 4.54 billion
years ago, and life appeared on its
surface within one billion years

About 71% of the surface is covered by salt
water oceans, with the remainder consisting of
continents and islands which together have many
lakes and other sources of water that contribute
to the hydrosphere. Earth's poles are mostly
covered with ice.

The planet's interior remains

active, with a solid iron inner core,
a liquid outer core

The Moon

The Moon is Earth's

only natural satellite.
It began orbiting the
Earth about4.53 billion
years ago (bya).
The Moon's gravitational interaction with Earth stimulates
ocean tides, stabilizes the axial tilt, and gradually slows the
planet's rotation.

Moons average distance from the earth is 384,403 km. The moons
period of revolution is about 27.32 days long.
The average distance from the
Earth to the Sun is 150 million km.

What is wind?
Wind is air in motion. It is produced by
the uneven heating of the earths
surface by the sun. Since the earths
surface is made of various land and
water formations, it absorbs the suns
radiation unevenly. Two factors are
necessary to specify wind: speed and
direction.
As the sun warms the Earth's surface, the atmosphere warms too.
Some parts of the Earth receive direct rays from the sun all year
and are always warm. Other places receive indirect rays, so the
climate is colder. Warm air, which weighs less than cold air, rises.
Then cool air moves in and replaces the rising warm air. This
movement of air is what makes the wind blow.

Wind is moving air. We can use the energy in wind to do work.

Examples:
1. wind to sail ships.

Cones and Pros (Wind Energy)

Wind is Clean Energy
Wind turbines dont burn fuel, so they dont pollute the air.
Wind is a renewable energy source and it is free.
Older wind turbines can make a lot of noise as they spin, but
new ones do not.
One wind turbine doesnt make much
electricity.
Most wind farms have many wind
turbines.
Wind farms take up a lot of land;
most of the land they are on can still
be farmed or used to graze animals.
