HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Dear parishioners,
I am excited to share with you
about a little endeavor. I pray
that all of you will be open to
participating in this. Next
week is the Solemnity of Jesus
Christ King of the Universe. In
order to celebrate we will be
having a Eucharistic procession.
In 1925, Pope Pius XI encouraged us that "by public adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed and
by solemn processions, people unite in paying
homage to Christ, whom God has given them for
their King.
Wednesday, 26th:
Parish Office Closes at Noon
Thursday, 27th
9:00 am Mass
There will be a blessing of the wine and bread that
you will be serving at your Thanksgiving Dinner
Recent popes have encouraged that these processions take place again with renewed fervor and go
into the streets. I am blessed to announce that we
will take our Eucharistic procession into the
streets of Casa de Oro.

ARE YOU IN A RELATIONSHIP THAT MAKES YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT YOURSELF?
This is a Safe Place Faith Community: Santa Sophias team provides faith-based support to parishioners, family
and friends who suspect or know of violence in their relationships. Call (619)663-9785 and leave a message. A team
member will call and offer resources that can help in situations of child, elder or intimate partner abuse.

O Jesus,
I pray for your faithful and; fervent priests;
For your unfaithful and tepid priests;
For your priests laboring at home or
Abroad in distant mission fields.
For your tempted priests;
For your lonely and desolate priests;
For your young priests; For your dying priests;
For the souls of your priests in Purgatory.
But above all, I recommend to you
The priests dearest to me;
The priest who baptized me;
The priests who absolved me from my sins;
The priests at whose Masses
I assisted and who gave me
Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
The priests who taught and instructed me;
All the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way
(especially...)
O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,
And bless them abundantly
in time and in Eternity,
Amen
Charity email frauds. This is especially prevalent at the holidays. Fraudsters send out emails
soliciting contributions-often using the name of
legitimate charities-with links to click on. The
victim unwittingly provides a bank account number and other personal information to the con
artist.

sity of America.
The veil does have benefits that are notable, but choosing not to wear one does not
mean you are unable to fully participate in Mass. Women have shared with me before that it helps them to
stay focused during the Mass and not be as distracted by other things going on around, as if it becomes
their own little personal chapel of prayer. It is also a visible sign to other people that we are in a prayerful
place, which helps us all to stay focused.
The chapel veil is a sign of purity and humility before God. If you feel moved to wear one and would like
more information you could always contact the parish office. This weekend at the bake/craft sale one of our
parishioners will be having some on sale for your purchase also.
Helping Local Hungry Children
Common Ground Collaborative works through the La Mesa/Spring Valley school district to provide goods and services needed by students and their families, to ensure a positive learning environment. School will once again be out
for the Thanksgiving holiday week very soon. That means for many children who rely on their school for lunch and
breakfast, they may have to go without. Yes, its that dire for more than 50 families who need help feeding their children right here in our Spring Valley neighborhoods. Next weekend on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday 16th,
Santa Sophias Common Ground ministry will invite you to dip into your pocket on the way out of church to help put
food on the table for the Thanksgiving week. Thanks to the generosity of area stores and food producers, who are
providing big discounts to us, we are able to obtain the needed food for much less than you could buy it in the store.
So, your dollars will go a long way. This is a powerful sign to these families that somebody really does care!
Thank you for the generosity you have always shown.
