Often times when we believe Satans lies it is because we doubt Gods

character; it is because we doubt that God is trustworthy. Jesus came to give us life
abundantly but unfortunately, too often, we allow Satan to kill, steal, and destroy
our relationship with God and with others (John 10:10). We would rather hold on to
our man made securities (Satans lies) rather than letting go of our intellect (our
own reasoning) and have faith in Gods promises. Faith is being sure of what we
hope for and certain of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Faith means to trust
God and his attributes even when our circumstances or our physical reasoning
would tell us that God has abandoned us and that He has broken His promises of
faithfulness and love to us. Faith is the key to dispelling Satans lies of doubting
Gods character. We need to take our intellect off the throne and ask God for the
faith to trust His promises (Mark 9:24)
Lies I Believe and how to dispel them:
Read the lies and the exposures of the lies below, along with the power statements.
Choose at least one set of Power Statements to memorize/read to yourself and to
pray every day as you dispel Satans lies and claim Gods truth. (NOTE: If you see a
character quality like this, boldness, please refer to the Character Teaching
section at the bottom of this section.)
I dont fit in.
-

The lie in this statement is that we are supposed to fit in with our
secular culture. It is not our job to fit in to our corrupted culture but to
change it, to conform to the universal standards of Gods ways of life. Fitting
in is the mentality of a follower. Standing up and doing the great work for
which God created us should be our passion and purpose in life. This action
requires GODS boldness.
Power Statements:
o
o

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the

renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God. (Rom 12:2 NKJV)
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what
fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion
has light with darkness? ... Therefore "Come out from among them and
be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will
receive you." (2Cr 6:14, 17 NKJV)

I am inadequate.
-

The lie behind this statement is that we must be self-sufficient with our
own abilities and resources in order to be adequate. The truth is that
God delights in demonstrating His power through our weakness and
inadequacies. Those who have had mental or physical inadequacies have
often experienced great spiritual abilities, because God is a God of
compensation. If our natural abilities are damaged, our inward person is
renewed with great energy.

Power Statements:
o

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus. (Phl 4:19 NKJV)

And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is
made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in
my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2Cr 12:9
NKJV)

I am all alone.
-

The root of this lie is based on the false idea that God is far off and that
being alone is something to be feared and avoided. We think that
being alone will result in loneliness and vulnerability. Loneliness is not the
absence of people but the inability to share our innermost thoughts,
emotions, and desires with another person. This is what our Creator longs for
us to do with Him. God is as near to us as we need Him to be. If he seems far
away, is it not Him who has moved away from us, but we who have strayed
away from Him. If we are not a believer, God is always near to hear our cry
for salvation. If we are a believer, we can be confident that He is always by
our side.
Power Statement:
o

For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hbr
13:5 NKJV)

One [thing] I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may
dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the
beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. (Psa 27:4 NKJV)

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence [is] fullness of joy; At
Your right hand [are] pleasures forevermore. (Psa 16:11 NKJV)

Character Teaching:
Once a person has identified the lie they believe and the verses to dispel the lie,
often the practical action steps of living in Gods truth requires character. For
example, say you believed the lie that you dont fit in. Then you found out the truth
that you are not supposed to fit in with the culture but transform the culture and
the power verse is Romans 12:2. In order to live out and take a stand for Gods
truth, you may need boldness to accomplish Gods plan. This character teaching
section below will give greater insights into different character qualities. (NOTE: I
will statements are key points to applying the character qualities.)
Boldness vs. Fearfulness:
Boldness is:
[1] The confidence that what I have to say or do is true, right, and just.

Page | 3
[2]- Welcoming any suffering that comes from doing what is right, because it will
produce a greater power of love.
I will:
-

Not be afraid to speak the truth.

Keep a clear conscience.
Support others when they are right.
Be willing to stand alone.
Speak with humility.
Fears that I have and how to cast them out:

Below are the fears you marked and action steps to cast out the fear in your heart
and replace it with Gods love (1 John 4:18).
Fear of Rejection:
-

Love Gods praise more (Isaiah 51:12-13)

Love your design (Psalm 139:13-14)
Greet all with enthusiasm (Proverbs 15:13)
Express love with gifts (Proverbs 19:6)
Give God your reputation (Luke 9:23)

Fear of Failure
-

Delight in Gods Word (Psalm 1:1-2 and Psalm 119:97-99)

Seek Gods kingdom first (Jer 45:5, Mat 6:33)
Get power for great works, such as showing Gods truth, love, and healing (2
Tim 1:6-7)

Painful Memories and Stresses I have and how to tear down strongholds:
God wants us to take the painful incidents in our lives and transform them for our
good. God wants us to conquer the strongholds in our lives and share our victory
with others to encourage them on Gods path.
How to transform painful memories?
1. List the benefits from an offense
2. Bless your offender
3. Forgive your offender
4. Ask forgiveness for your offenses

Why did God let it happen? Was it to:

-

Help us conquer pride

Let us show Gods love

Give us compassion

Teach us leadership

Develop patience in us

Experience Christs power

Stop generational sins

How to Conquer Strongholds:

Jesus came to give us life abundantly but Satan wants to steal our life from having
eternal significance, kill the hope that is within us, and destroy our relationships
(John 10:10). This is Satans purpose for a stronghold. A stronghold is anything that
isnt right that has a hold on our life. Strongholds occur because of a deep
wounding that happened; often this initial wound takes place during our childhood.
This could have happened in the area of family, friends, education, media, or
religion. Painful memories cause us to believe lies, which cause fear, which result in
stress. Strongholds are often seasonal, meaning that lies can be sown in our
childhood which does not show signs of development until years, or even decades,
later.
1. Repent of exalting our soul (intellect, will, and emotion)
A continuous war goes on in the soul. Wrong choices cause us to
surrender ground to Satans control.
2. Claim Gods forgiveness (1 John 1:9)
3. Cry out to God to reclaim surrendered ground
4. Tear down strongholds with truth
We can demolish strongholds by:

Dispelling lies with knowing and believing the character,

promises, and Word of God.

By taking our thoughts captive through the rhemas of

Gods Word (2 Cor 10:3-5). (A rhema is something that
God reveals to you from His Word as a practical
application.)

In addition, He says in Hebrews 12:1-2 to throw off the sin and weight
that entangles us. Sin is defined as things we know that breaks Gods
law, while weights are anything that hinders us (or slows us down)

from Gods work. God wants us to gaze at Jesus and glance at the
world.

How to write a four part testimony:

1. Explain the problem you had. Use general terms so that others can identify
with it.
2. Describe how you tried to solve it in your own way and failed. Human
solutions made the problem get worse.
3. Tell how you applied a command of Christ. Give detailed information.
4. Report the results of Gods solution. Describe how God honored your
obedience to His Word.
