Know & Plan - IBPS PO Exam Syllabus

Most of todays youngsters are aspiring to be bank employees and IBPS PO is the most attempted bank exam. IBPS
PO Exam Syllabus is considered one of the most difficult among all the bank exams. With the increase in the
competition everyone is vying to succeed.
As the IBPS PO exam is scheduled this year in the coming months of October and November (tentatively), students
are barely breathing. IBPS PO exam though considered tough, is easy to solve with proper insight into its Syllabus
and sufficient practice.
The paper setters of IBPS PO exam certainly have some favorite topics in the entire syllabus. With analysis of
previous years papers, it is observed that these favorites are changing every year. It is advised for the aspirants to
have a general idea on all the topics at the same time have proficiency in certain categories of questions.
With the IBPS PO exam being conducted online from last year, there have been certain changes in mark allocation,
but however most of the IBPS PO exam syllabus remains almost the same. While the marks in English language and
General Awareness are reduced by 10 marks each, descriptive paper on English is completely removed. The
maximum marks allocated for Computer Knowledge came down from 50 to 20. This only clarifies that basic
information is looked for in the attempting candidates.

1. Reasoning:
This section of the IBPS PO Syllabus tests the candidates analytical thinking and mental aptitude. There are two
types of questions: Verbal and Non-verbal. The questions under each are mentioned below:

minutes. Most of the achievers have shared their opinion of solving this difficult section in the end.

English:

The questions in IBPO exam syllabus have 40 marks based on English section. This section mainly aims to analyze
the language and grammatical abilities of the candidate. More emphasis is on topics Grammar, comprehension
and sentence arrangement.

English Section is the biggest winner of marks and also the time saver in the entire IBPS PO syllabus. It can make up
your shortcomings in harder sections like Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.
Tips: Allocate as less time as possible to this section, skipping the doubtful questions. Most the times there is never
a need to revise this section because known answers are marked as soon as they are read.
3. Quantitative Aptitude:
This section is considered the toughest in the entire IBPS PO syllabus. Among all the topics qualified in the syllabus,
the maximum weightage is carried by Data Interpretations and simplifications. However, lengthy calculations in DI
can be time consuming. Same is the case with simplification. Some students instead follow a strategy by preparing
only in selected topics and attempt the same. But the result however is ambiguous.

Tips: It is suggested to take up this section before the Reasoning section. It is tougher than other sections but
easier than Reasoning. The time saved in sections like English and General Awareness can come in handy here.
4. General Awareness:
This section is all about how much time you spent on keeping yourself updated about the current happenings
around you. The difficulty level in this section is independent of the IBPS PO syllabus and depends on your
preparation on the subject. Competitive magazines, newspapers, selected chapters from Economy Survey, and
current affairs from 2-3 months before the exam are good sources for this section of IBPS PO exam Syllabus.

Tips: The only tip that helps to clear this section is Memorize, Be updated.
5. Computer Knowledge:
Computer Knowledge is considered one of the easiest sections in IBPS PO exam Syllabus.
The topics that come in the purview of IBPS PO syllabus for Computer Knowledge are:
