: Persuasive Speech

1. Goal
Students will be able to give persuasive speech in front of the class in a
specific subject and able to persuade people that listen to what they say.
2. Objectives
By the end of the class the students are able to speak up their persuasive
opinion in front of public and able to tell what is do and dont when delivering
persuasive speech.
3. Material and Equipments
- Materials : Persuasive Speech 101 presentation by E.Zulhilmi and video of short
persuasive speech from YouTube.
- Equipments : sound systems and projector set, persuasive speech guideline sheet
for individual activities.
4. Procedures
a. Pre-class activities 5 minutes
Teacher starts the class with a brainstorming on persuasive speech with the
students. After students have some ideas about persuasive speech, teachers start
explaining the persuasive speech with the presentation prepared before.
b. In-class activities 15 minutes
1. Whole Class Discussion
The Class discusses presentation on persuasive speech together with an
interactive learning process in a mediocre pace. After 10 minutes of
presentation, the teacher plays the video on persuasive speech as prepared
before. When the video is up, teacher started the second brainstorm about
the topic that will be discussed on group activities which later on will be
presented by each group. The topics are decided by the group on their
own.
2. Group Activities
The students form a group of 4 (approximately there are 5 groups)
and discuss the topic which later on will be presented as a 5 minutes
persuasive speech by the groups spokesperson and when a group is
presenting their speech the other group make some notes on how the
presenting group presents their speech and after the presentation is up the
feedbacks are discussed together.

3. Individual Activities
After all group presenting their speech, teacher distributes the
guidelines form to each student and asks them to prepare an individual
persuasive speech for following week. The guidelines form helps them to
construct their ideas and topic. The form will be submitted after two days,
the Monday class will submit the form in Wednesday and the rest as
follows.
c. After-Class Activities
The students after class are expected to brainstorm on their own
with the help of the guidelines that given in class previously. The guidelines
also give the essentials information about the assignments (the individual
presentation).
5. Evaluation
The evaluation is carried out through class objective observation using an
evaluation form for each student during in-class activities . The evaluation in this
topic is focused on the following criteria:
a. Group Activities
