APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
This form is to be used to apply for funding from the Swedish Institute (SI) to arrange local network for
Future Global Leaders (NFGL) events in your town/city of residence during January until May 2015. For
each application, a maximum of SEK 15,000 can be applied for.
The application form must be completed, signed and returned by e-mail to SI by 1 December 2014 in
order to be taken into consideration. Please remember that SI is a Swedish public agency, which means
that any document received is open to and can be requested by the general public.

The application form must be completed electronically, printed, signed, and scanned as a PDF
file.
The application must be sent together with the enclosures according to the above.
The application and enclosures must be marked with registration number 19856/2014
A completed form and attachments must be sent by e-mail to si@si.se by 1 December at the
latest.
Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
SI will not have any possibility to support you with assistance with your application.

WHAT CAN YOU APPLY FOR?


This call is to support local NFGL networks. We recommend that events have a clear thematic approach.
Events could include several components, together forming a programme, and should be described in
general in Section B: SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY PLAN.
For example, an event could be an expert seminar on a certain topic, followed by an interactive
workshop and a small reception/coffee mingle afterwards. It could be a series of events, approaching a
set of questions from different perspectives. The purpose of the events is to strengthen platforms for
professional networking, to start up mentorships, and to highlight experiences of relevance to the topics
discussed.
Seminars/workshops within the following thematic areas will have priority:
- Innovation, creativity, CSR and entrepreneurship
- Modern leadership and management skills
- Employment and career development
- Leadership, management and networking
- Sustainable development
- ICT and e-solutions
- Democracy and human rights issues
Please note that the events cannot be targeted to a specific country or region in the world. It must
follow the aim of the SI Network for Future Global Leaders: to focus on themes such as innovation,
sustainability, democracy, human rights, society, creativity and culture, in order to create mutual

understanding and to create relationships with other countries around the world in order to reach a
sustainable democratic society.
A SI NFGL local event could also have external partners (e.g. NGOs, universities, companies, or other
organisations).
WHO CAN APPLY?
The local network should have a board with a chairman and a minimum of four board members. Board
members should preferably be current SI Scholarship holders; however, local SI Alumni residents are
also welcome. The application must be completed and signed by the board which intends to manage the
local NFGL network.
Please keep in mind the continuation of the board when your scholarship period is over so you have a
plan for the future for the local network.

WHAT CAN BE COVERED BY SI FUNDING?


The grant from SI can be used for various purposes within the framework of the proposed local NFGL
network. Costs must belong to one of the following categories in order to be covered for by SI funding:

Rent of event venues


Food, snacks and coffee break
Seminar and office props, supplies
Payment for key-note speaker, lecturer, expert

Travel by members of other NFGL local networks cannot be sponsored by the grant. Travel by members
of the SI NFGL Local network cannot be sponsored by the grant. The idea is that the events should take
place in the city of the university.
RESTRICTIONS
The proposed local NFGL event must:

Take place in the applicants/associations city/town of residence or in the nearby region.


Be carried out through the timeframe indicated in your event proposal. For example, JanuaryMay 2015.
The invitation to the event must be sent to all SI Scholarship holders at the university and
preferably to all SI Alumni who still reside in the city/town.

REPORT TO SI
The NFGL local network must report back to the Swedish Institute no later than 10 June 2015. The
report should contain (1) Final programme per each individual event, (2) Final participant list per each
individual event, (3) Evaluation and financial report per each individual event and a maximum of e.g.
2500 words describing the result and outcome of the activities arranged by the association.
In the report to SI you should include copies of invoices, receipts etc. to verify your distribution of the
grant given by SI. All of the remaining funding should be returned to SI account number:
Bankgiro: 5210-3918 or bank account number: 12810105014 reference our SI Local network name.
Since this is a pilot we will review the result of this test period before we announce another call of
applications.
REPORT TO NFGL FACEBOOK
Two weeks prior to the event an invitation and programme of the event should be posted on SI NFGLFacebook, in order to spread the information and also to inspire other NFGL members to initiate local

NFGL activities. AFTER EACH EVENT please post a report and pictures at NFGL-Facebook, no later than
one week after the event.
