Hong Kong

^^^^'september
Dear Friends, Family and Fellow Christians,

We have enjoyed our stay here in Hong Kong very much. We have been blessed by
the Lord and His people. On Sundays we meet from 8:30 in the morning and we don't
leave until after 9:00 that same evening. The Church meets in the living room of a rented
house, and the attendance this Sunday was 32. Magdalena and I have been responsible for
bringing the leaching morning, afternoon, and evening.
Most of the congregation is made up of Filipino mothers who come here to work in
homes on a two-year contract before they can return home. The congregation is supporting
one or two Filipino ladies that have gone forth from the Fairview Christian Church here in
Hong Kong. In the Philippines they have begun Bible studies with their own children and
family members and have begun three Sunday Schools for children in at least two mission
churches near where they live.
Brother Ken Smyth, who has been the missionary here for over 23 years, gives
Bible Studies and teaches each member how to make disciples. Magdalena and I are
having Bible studies with him every day for about 2 to 3 hours. The Lord has greatly
blessed us because we will be able to share in Mexico and else-where the methods that Ken

uses to teach how to disciple and to give Bible studies.

We will be returning to the States this coming September 27"*. We should be bacR^
in Mexico after the I' of October. Lord willing we will be preaching in aHispanic church ]
in Dallas, Texas before we return to Mexico.

Out Fall schedule is very busy on all weekends up until New Year's. We are /
scheduled for revivals, Colegio Biblico's Alumni Reunion (Magdalena has been the v

president for the last two years), and the Mexican Christ in Youth conference near Mexico (
City near the Pyramids of Teotihuacan.

Then we have the Continuation Committee \

Meeting for the National Mexican Christian Convention as well as a revival meeting in j
Blue Island, Illinois near Chicago with an Hispanic congregation.

'

we do plan to be home in between some of these activities. Our children do miss us

(so they say), are very supportive and happy that we have had this blessing to have come to

Hong Kong after nearly 20 years of having been invited by missionaries Ken Smyth and
Wong Yang Wing. Both were my roommates at Piatte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff,
Nebraska.

Dear friends and family-please continue to pray for us. Continue supporting God's
work in every way possible. Pray for God's children that He has placed under our c^are for
these few short years. Children that we call our own, Berenice, Ana Silvia, Mark Caleb, and
Sheila Maysel. Our children are active in the Lord's work in Mexico on a local as well as
national level. Mark Caleb especially requires ourprayers as he decides how to use his life.

We had the blessing of leading our children to the Lord, but they still need our support and
prayer.

Continue to pray for my mother, Maysel. She especially helps with our children

when Magdalena and I are traveling. She takes time everyday to teach them English and
piano lessons. She shares her experience and love with her grand kids. She is a very
valuable resource for us and the work in Mexico. May the Lord still grant her good health
and years of life on this earth.

I give my sincere, "Thank you" to all of you who have had a part in the Lord's
ministry through the Northrup families. We pray and invite others to join forces with us so
we might still do more and better what the Lord expects us to do before He too calls us
home to Him.

Love in Christ,

Mark and Magdalena Northrup

NORTHRUP
Mark is the son ofRodney and Maysel Northrup, missionaries
to Mexico since January of 1950. Mark was five months old
when he arrived on the Mexican mission field. He and his two

sisters that followed, Anita and Sylvia grew up learning two

languages. When Mark was eight years old he gave his life
over to the Lord and years later he decided to become a full

timemissionary. Mark andMagdalena are bothBibleCollege

graduates and they were married in Mexico, August 15,1975.
Their four children are very involved in doing missionary
work too! Berenice, Ana Silvia, Marie Caleb and Sheila have

learned by example and by doing. The whole family helps in

whatever capacity they can in camps, evangelistic and revival
meetings, conventions, youth rallies and Christ in Youth
