Your ideal option for temporary or

permanent ice installations
IceMat is the original small-diameter twin-tube
refrigeration piping system, engineered for permanent
and/or temporary ice applications (skating and curling
rinks, luge tracks, toboggan and ski runs and more).
IceMat features a closely spaced twin-tube piping system
with a unique counterflow that circulates coolant
(glycol, methanol or calcium chloride) in opposite
directions to even out surface temperatures throughout
the entire ice sheet, providing skaters and other users
with the most consistent ice conditions. In fact, The
Hockey News reported that IceMat provides the best ice
surface in the National Hockey League.

Temporary applications are easy with a CALMAC

IceMat System too! IceMat Systems can be installed
on any indoor or outdoor surface - tennis courts,
parking lots, stages, shopping and convention centers,
gym floors, pools, stadiums and even bare ground.
Most importantly, they can be removed, stored and
re-installed.
For permanent installations, IceMat II provides
design flexibility and superior ice quality with
significant savings from construction forward. In
permanent installations IceMat II systems benefit users in
terms of reduced costs and enhanced design options
during construction. Whether they are embedded in
concrete, or covered with sand for year-round or
seasonal use, owners will enjoy reduced operating
costs and superior ice quality through the life of the
completed facility.

Thinner, smoother ice even in the middle

of the Summer
IceMat Systems provide a much greater heat
exchange surface area than conventional indirect or
direct refrigeration piping systems. This exceptional
design feature allows IceMat Systems to make good
quality ice, even when temperatures reach 90-100 F
(32-38C).
Additionally, IceMat Systems use lower flow
rates, less coolant, and promote a thinner ice sheet than
conventional systems which employ larger diameter
plastic or steel tubing. Smaller headers, pumps, motors
and tanks can be used, reducing construction and
operating costs. Thermal lag is also reduced and
the shorter heat transfer path of the thinner ice sheet
helps to minimize energy consumption.

IceMat...
Easily customizable to your specifications
Each IceMat System component is available in
standard or custom configurations. A standard IceMat is
four feet wide, with 50 sections required for a standard
85 x 200 foot rink. The length can be fabricated from 20
to 200 feet for any size or shape installation. Standard
measurement for IceMat II is seven feet wide, with 13
sections required for a standard 85 x 200 foot rink. The
length can be fabricated from 30 to 250 feet for any size
or shape installation.

IceMat & HeatMat ...

The ideal solutions for rink
repair or upgrade
IceMat Systems can also provide a costeffective option when replacing damaged, heaved
and/or leaking ice rink piping, or when converting direct systems utilizing freon or ammonia to an
indirect system using glycol, methanol or calcium
chloride brine.
Surface heaving has been a long standing
problem for ice rinks and a host of other applications including roadways and airport runways. In
permanent installations, CALMAC's HeatMat
Sub-Floor Heating System eliminates heaving by heating the ground under the ice slab via a
gridded tubing system much like our IceMat, but
designed and engineered to circulate a much
higher range of fluid temperatures.
