Introit
Call to worship (read together)
Eternal God, we would see Jesus.
Be with us as we watch and wait expectantly
for the signs that he is near.
Lord, as we light our first Advent candle,
we pause to acknowledge
the things that have passed away in our lives.
In the coming days of this glorious season
we commit ourselves anew to watching and waiting for you.

Our father in Heaven, hallowed be your name,

Intercessory prayer
Lord, you have given us peace. Help us to extend that peace in our lives, in our neighbourhood
and in the world. We remember especially
Lord, you have shown your grace to us. Help us to show love and favour to others. We pray for
Lord, you are everywhere. Help those who feel cut off from your presence. Be with those in
Lord, you have given us language and the ability to speak. We think of those with the special
responsibility of using words
We pray for ourselves as we tell others the good news.
Lord, you have given us knowledge and you are truth. We remember those who handle truth in
their daily life
Lord, you change lives and give us new life. Strengthen those who turn to you. We pray that our
changed life can be obvious to others. Help us to obey you in each area of life, especially
Lord, you have given your people spiritual gifts. Especially we pray for the use of Lord, you
