Electronic Resource Evaluation
1.) Educreations:
Year after year just like our generation and the ones to follow, it can be said that as a
society we are moving in the direction of a more technological resource friendly era. Whereas
instead of completing certain tasks that may demand a lot of the individual that is trying to
complete them. We are creating and using technologies that make getting the job done so
much more efficient, easy and less time consuming to a point where it even opens a window for
inspiring creativity. This also applies in the educational field where electronic resources are
being integrated in to everyday lesson plans and evaluation. With multiple electronic tools and
applications being created everyday there are various outlets for teachers to find tools that can
help them with their base goal of teaching their students in an efficient progressive manner.
One of the electronic resources I would like to bring to attention that I personally find to be the
best from past experience with education friendly applications as a student and aspiring
teacher is Educreations. Educreations is an IPad and regular computer compatible application
that alike a lot of the new applications that can be downloaded on an IPad; it transforms the
device into a new creative tool that can open doors for the user in a tech. friendly sense.
Educreations is an application that turns your IPad into a recordable whiteboard, with multiple
extra features that surpass what can be done on a regular white board. Providing very efficient
tools with the application such as it records your voice, hand writing, saving pictures giving a

feel for pretty much creating your own video lessons that can be shared online and accessed by
the students via IPad or computer.
Looking at this application one advantage that can be noted that facilitates learning is
that since you can pretty much record a whole lesson and share it, whenever you might be
absent as a teacher you can have students go online and watch the lesson along with the
assignment. So that if there is a substitute in, they wont have to teach they can actually follow
along online or on their IPad with the lesson while also being able to make sure students are
still learning and staying on task. In a sense it can be seen as the application can replace the job
of a teacher being present so that no matter where students and the instructor are they can
access and follow or create a lesson plan that works as if the teacher was right beside the
students teaching. Understanding that a lesson can be recorded also take in the fact that it can
be modified with this application for certain students for example, if you have a non-English
speaker or a student with a learning disability you can translate the lesson and or record voice
comments that work interactively with the student therefore making it easier to reach a diverse
group of students. Another way this application can be used to help non-English speaking and
English speaking students in class is it allows students to record themselves repeating and
listing any kind of vocabulary as it is written on the interactive white board. I am a firm believer
that repetition of any aspect is key when trying to achieve and make progress in the
educational field. The best thing about this application I think money wise is that it is free on
iTunes for download, therefore making the application that much more cost effective for the
school or classroom if their trying to integrate this electronic tool into their teaching curriculum.
On top of that it is a very easy to use application with multiple tutorials that can be found on

www.appsinclass.com/educreations.html. If I were to think of the grade levels where I would


see most teachers using this application I would probably say from grade 3 all the way up to the
college level. For example I could see Educreations being a very helpful tool in my core class,
say my professor records a video lesson plan where he explains out in detail the actions of two
different main characters from two different books. Like the similarities and differences of
Achilles in The Iliad and Socrates in The Trial and Death of Socrates in their beliefs of being
Just in ones actions. With him being able to use the interactive white board to record him
teaching a lesson, that would give the students an outlet for not only a study guide for a test
but something to re-touch base on if they did not understand what was talked about in class or
in the book. All in all I would rate this electronic resource the highest, because of how easy it is
to use and how much it has to offer to the everyday curriculum of any teacher that wants to
incorporate easy reach anywhere interactive lesson plan technology for their students.

2.) Splash Mathematics:


The next electronic resource I would like to talk about is Splash Mathematics. Splash
Math is a math based application that is accessible on the IPad and the computer. This
Application is an easy way for teachers to offer their students a fun colorful comprehensive
solution to making math practice enjoyable for kids grade levels kindergarten to grade five.
Another thing that makes it that much easier for a teacher to get this electronic tool
incorporated into their curriculum is that its not only easy to use and to access but its also a
free download making it very cost effective for schools no matter what the demographics of the

school may be. The application along with tutorial on how to use can be found on ITunes and
on https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/splash-math-grade-1-5-fun-learning-games-forkids/id672658828?mt=8. Splash math offers numerous math skills that line up exactly with the
common core state standards, giving it a plus in the reasons why a teacher might want to take a
stab at recommending this tool for their students to use for practice at home or in the
classroom.
Researching on this electronic tool if I could give an over view of the main features that I
like the most from this tool it would be how with this electronic tool students have the option
to practice math content from grades Kindergarten through grade five. Giving the students the
option of if a student completes all of the math content required for their grade level, they can
go forward and beyond to practice a higher grade level of math content. Looking at these
options this also helps students who might need to revise and practice previous math skills
from past grade levels. Another feature this application has that helps with progressing the
math skill performance of the students is, it gives performance reports using a graphical
dashboard for visual representation making it easier for teachers and both parents to identify
the students strengths and struggle areas as they practice. I ranked this electronic resource
second in my list because I did not think it was on a level of advancement as Educreations, but
dont misunderstand for a teacher trying to emphasize on teaching mathematical skills with
their students this application would work wonders. Splash math is a very wonderful electronic
tool that in the same sense of Educreations connects the teachers, parents and students as far
accessibility and keeping up on the students progress with their practice and learning of math
criteria. Its just Educreations can be broad enough to be put in to any type of educational field

and used, where as there is more specifity and boundaries with splash math and that is why I
ranked it second out of the electronic resources that are being reviewed.

3.) Endless Reader


The last Electronic resource I would like to talk about is Endless Reader. Endless Reader
is pretty much an electronic tool that brings in sight words in to the electronic English
educational side of the field. The sight words that are used in Endless Reader mostly consist
of words found in school, library, and childrens books. This electronic tool understands that not
every child recognizes words just by saying them, but that kids at a young age need to see
words by sight in order to achieve fluency through repetition. With features that Endless
Reader offer where students will enjoy an interactive word puzzle with letters that come alive
when clicked. Other features such as with sentence puzzles that have words that become what
they describe so that the child reading the sentence or word will have a live interactive visual
representation of what is being described. This Electronic tool can reach so many children
whether they are young readers, non-English speakers or have a learning disability. With the
representations along with sight words it will be made easier for non-English speaking
students to better the way they learn and pronounce new vocabulary. While also making it
easier on the non-English speaking students to understand words context and usage with the
help of the avatar like endless monsters included in the program.
Now one of the main reasons why I rated this electronic resource so low was because
Endless reader is free for download on I-Tunes but the catch is you only get to use but so many

word lessons and features before your restricted to what you really want to achieve. The
Electronic tool restricts you by pretty much forcing you to buy add-ons to get a full experience
like word packs, word puzzles that reinforce using lower case letters and sentence puzzles that
teach definition and usage. Understand the tool is very easy to use and is mostly directed for
students at the age of five and under. From what was understood and seen in reviews on the
electronic tool this tool has a lot of potential and was a hit on I-Tunes becoming an editors
choice. A lot of people said it was well worth the money and very effective in teaching their
students word and context with sight words, but my only thing is how long will it be used in
the classrooms or wanted to be incorporated by schools that cannot afford to have the I-pads
that would be needed for every student for this tool. Which brings another negative point to
attention in the cost of this electronic resource for schools; not every school can afford the
technology needed use this electronic resource. Therefore posing another major restriction
that hurts the outlook on a great electronic tool such as this one.
