AIM with US
Happy Holidays! Welcome to
the fifth issue of The Arc Carroll Countys adult autism
newsletter, Autism in Motion.
This is a shortened newsletter
this month because we are in
the process of developing a
new curriculum for the Spring
2015! Job Hunters, our job
development course for
adults on the spectrum, will
remount in February 2015!
The Division of Rehabilitation
Services (DORS) has approved
this for their fee schedule. If
you or someone you know has
DORS funding, check with
them to see if you qualify!
While our courses may be on
winter break, Social Club will
be continuing throughout the
months of December and
January. Last months social,
a Thanksgiving potluck, was a
HUGE success. Plenty of food

If you want your ideas incorporated, come out to our

social on December 18th!

and plenty of fun! Our next

social will be a White Elephant Gift Exchange Party on
Thursday, December 18th
from 6:30-8pm at The Arc
Carroll County. The cost is
FREE! We do, however, request you bring a wrapped $5
gift for the exchange. At the
social, we will be brainstorming ideas for our next series
of autism courses. These
ideas will be coming directly
from the social club! Weve
already had some great input
revolving around gaming,
creative writing, drama, art,
music, and exercise & fitness.

Birdies with Britt will still

be every Wednesday morning
from 8-9am at Birdies Caf on
233 East Main Street in Westminster. This will be a great
opportunity to ask questions
about the upcoming courses.
And finally, on Saturday, April
25th at The Arc Carroll
County, we will be having our
first autism 5K! We need your
help so we can continue to
raise funds to support our
wonderful growing Adult Autism Program.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Achieve with us.

The Arc Carroll County was founded in 1955 by a

small group of parents of children with
developmental disabilities. At that time, these
children were excluded from public education and
there were no structured social, recreational or
educational activities.
This group of parents was committed to forming a
community-based system to provide necessary
services for their children. That first year special
education programs were established in the
basement of the Davis Library on Main Street in
Westminster and in the Mount Airy American Legion.
Since that time, The Arc has advocated for and
worked to provide support to people with
developmental disabilities and their families. Today
The Arc is one of Carroll Countys largest non-profit
organizations serving nearly 700 adults and children
with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
