6th Grade Poetry Analysis and Poet Research Presentation

Students will create a Google Docs slideshow presentation including a total of six slides. Students MUST use LISD Log
Ins. The purpose of each slide is as follows:

Title Slide:

Names the poem and the poet

Slide 1:

Explains the meaning of the poem, including the poets purpose and message.

Slide 2:

Gives examples from the poem of one or more poetic elements, which may include: (1)
figurative language (such as personification, metaphor, simile, or hyperbole), (2) imagery
and/or (3) sound devices (such as alliteration, onomatopoeia, repetition). Explains purpose and
effectiveness of poetic elements.

Slide 3:

Lists biographical information about the poet, including dates of birth and death, or whether
the poet is still living, place of birth, and where the poet has spent her/his life.

Slide 4:

Gives the educational background of the poet, a list of prominent works and a notable quote by
the poet.
